The aim of the study was to illustrate how single parents who want to adopt a child are described in consent investigations made by the social service. The methodology for this study was document analysis. The analysis material consisted of 23 consent investigations from family courts in 12 different municipalities and district administrations. The theoretical starting point of the study was the perspective of social construct of reality. Based on the issues of the study, background on international adoptions, theory of norms and deviation and past research the documents were analyzed.

The aim of the study was to gain a deeper understanding of the administrative officials work with assessments in home studies of adoption. To answer the purpose, we chose to focus on the guidelines for administrative official?s assessments in home studies of adoption and what assessment areas that is fundamental to the administrative official?s assessments. The study is structured on the basis of a qualitative approach where we have used semi-structured interviews. We interviewed seven administrative officials in the social services which conducted home studies of adoption.

Studiens syfte var att beskriva hur barnets bästa kan konstrueras i förhållande till lämpligt föräldraskap vid Medgivandeutredningar för internationell adoption. Som metod användes kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer. Sju utredare från sex olika stadsdelar i Stockholm stad intervjuades. Materialet analyserades utifrån ett rättsociologiskt perspektiv och socialkonstruktivistisk teori.Resultatet visade att lämpligt föräldraskap är en förutsättning för barnets bästa. Lämpligt föräldraskap preciseras som förälderns egenskaper och möjligheter att ta hand om ett adoptivbarn.

The aim of this study was to describe how the best interest of the child can be constructed in investigations concerning permission for international adopt, where adequate parenthood is investigated. Qualitative research interviews were used as method. Seven investigators from six different sections of the city of Stockholm were interviewed. The information was analysed on the basis of a sociological approach to law and social constructionism.The result showed that adequate parenthood is a condition in the interest of the child. Adequate parenthood is specified as the parent?s qualities and possibility to care for an adopted child.

Uppsatsen syftade till att redogöra för de möjliga faktorer som samverkat till att minska antalet adoptioner mellan Chile och Sverige åren 1973-2005. Antagandet som låg till grund för detta var att ökad välfärdsnivå i Chile inverkat på den adoptionsverksamhet som pågick under dessa år. Uppsatsen syftade också till att beskriva hur internationell adoptionsverksamhet i ett svenskt sammanhang organiseras på myndighetsnivå och med utgångspunkt ur olika ideella verksamheter, samt att knyta studien till socialt arbete. Studien utgick från en sociologisk och tvärvetenskaplig ansats. Vägledande begrepp var bland annat organisationer, etnicitet och identitet.
