The purpose of this study has been to follow how the Swedish press covers the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest. To do so, I have followed how the image of The Ark, a Swedish rock group, changed in the press during Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. They won in Sweden, but in the big European Finale they ended up in 18th place. The study is based on a discourse analysis with the focus on the social dialogue of the band in the newspapers. I have applied the analysis on 14 articles published the day after Melodifestivalen and a week ahead, and 14 articles published the day after the Eurovision Song Contest and a week ahead.

This study examines how to translate digitally composed symphonic music to note script and how it gets readable and playable. With the help of professional musicians from the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, teachers from Kulturskolan in Norrköping as well as other musicians, I have learned how I can improve each individual stem in my composition. I also learned how to write for a real musician. My score have been analyzed by composers and a conductor which have given me a more in depth insight into composing symphonic music.The theory section describes important MIDI aspects, score preparation and note editing techniques. Thereafter is a section about the symphony orchestra and its instruments? history and how the situation is today.

Alla lyssnar vi på musik på olika sätt och uppskattar dess aspekter på skilda vis men finns det något vi har gemensamt i ämnet? En grunduppfattning tycks vara att ett musikaliskt stycke, oavsett genre, bör ?sitta ihop? och inge lyssnaren en känsla av helhet. Man skulle kunna uttrycka detta som att en ?röd tråd? bör gå att följa genom stycket. Men vad är det som åstadkommer detta? Nyckelord som repetition, kontrast och variation brukar ligga nära till hands för att beskriva musikens ingredienser men dessa ger oss endast ett mycket abstrakt svar på vår fråga.
