Integrering av Digitala Färdskrivare och Telematik för den nya Europeiska Standarden

This Master of Science thesis project handles issues around managing data from the digital tachographsystem. European legislation states that companies must Download the data of the digital tachograph systemand store it for at least one year for control purposes. The system stores data on the vehicle unit located inthe driving compartment and on smart cards personal for each driver.Acquiring data from the previous analogue tachograph was done instantaneously since the data wasphysically printed to a circular paper chart when driving. To acquire data from the digital system one mustperform a Download from the vehicle unit and later transfer it to some form of backup solution for longterm storage. Data must also be Downloaded from the driver smart cards.Download of data from the vehicle unit is the most time consuming task and may take up to 30minutes pervehicle.

Talböcker och nedladdning: En studie om talboksanvändares användning av och uppfattning om nedladdning av talböcker

The aim of this qualitative study is to examine how users of talking books perceive the possibility of Downloading talking books from home without visiting the library and how this affects them. Three research questions were formulated:How do talking book users reflect on their library usage?Have the subject's' library usage changed since introduction to the Download service? How have users experienced the service? To answer these questions, five semi structured interviews were conducted with five different users of talking books in Sweden. All subjects were currently using Download services which they had gained access to from their local public libraries. In analyzing the interviews, a theory established by Henrik Jochumsen and Casper Hvenegaard Rasmussen in Gør biblioteket en forskel (2000) was used.

En studie av normerna kring fildelning och piratkopiering

In this paper I have focused on the underlying reasons for people and piracy. The paper starts with a presentation of the Swedish laws of copyright as they are constituted today and the new law that is supposedly being ordained the 1st of July, 2005, a brief summary of what its effects will be for the people, according to the authorities and the critisism that has developed around it from the net-pirats. Then follows a definition of the expression "norms" and what it means here in my paper. Now comes a presentation of the research I have been doing, in the form of a survey concerning why and how often people Download copyrighted material from the net, and if they have ever sold any pirated copies to more than selfprice and, if so, to whom. The presentations shows that the majority of the people that are Downloading copyrighted material from the Internet is doing it for the own personal use and not to make any money out of selling the material on, since most people consider it unfair to charge for something that they have got for free. The survey also shows that many of those who Download copyrighted material also upload it because it gives them a satisfactory feeling of giving something in order to get something. The survey also shows that although most of the people taking the survey knows what the new law means it has not affected them in anyway.

Musik på Internet framtiden för bibliotekens musikavdelningar?

The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the possibilities of, and interest in, a digital Download service at the music departments of the libraries. I chose to conduct my study at the city library of Gothenburg. I studied the legal Download services that exist today and I did a statistical survey among the users of the music department, followed up by interviews to see how they took to the idea. From the inquiry I learned that a majority of the users was negative to having a digital service replacing the physical department, although a majority was positive to try a digital service. I also used the inquiry to compare the reasons for Downloading music to the reasons for borrowing records from the library, but there was no significant difference.

Varför betala?: En uppsats om varför vissa betalar för musik och andra inte

The end of the 20th century brought a dramatic change to the music industry. The then predominant models for music consumption and sales were forever altered when the possibility to distribute music over the internet emerged. It has now become evident that it is virtually impossible to stop the distribution of digital music files. Music has turned into a non-excludable and non-rival product, which in economic terms is described as a public good. Public goods theory serves as a starting point for this study, which explores some of the factors that might explain why some consumers pay for music, while others choose to Download music illegally.

Synkroniserad videouppspelning över Internet

The goal with this project was to achieve real-time synchronized video playback over the Internet, or in other words, that multiple clients play the same part of a video at the same time. The result shows how it is possible to build such a protocol, that gives a user experience that the video is synchronized between computers when playing a locally stored file, stream or video delivered using progressive Download. This was achieved by designing, then role playing to find weaknesses, and at last implementing the protocols to see how they work in practice. By using such a protocol, it is possible to navigate and discuss around a video in for example a telephone conference, and be sure that everybody is looking on the same picture..
