Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate former Dental hygienist students? view regarding their education at Kristianstad University.Material and methods: This quantitative study was descriptive and the data collection method was used by a questionnaire. This was sent by post to former Dental hygienist students at Kristianstad University. In total, 57 Dental hygienists participated in the study.Result: The majority of the respondents (94 %, n=54) were content with their education. The education?s primary strength turned out to be the clinical activity that is conducted while at the same time there was a wish for more practice.

The aim of the study was to examine the competence of Dental hygienists among Clinic Director´s within the Public Dental Service and Private dentists in the county of Skåne . The study was quantitative and consisted of an electronic questionnaire sent out to all Clinic Directors in the county of Skåne. A total of five hundred and thirty eight questionnaires were sent out. The inclusion criteria were the Clinic directors who employed Dental hygienists who had obtained their professional degree during the last four years. Twenty nine Clinic directors responded to the study.The results showed that in general clinic directors are pleased and feel that Dental hygienists are proficient in periodontology and Dental caries diagnostics.

The aim of the study was to examine experiences and attitudes to Dental hygienist treatment in a group of patients by using the assessment tools Corah Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and Dental Hygienist Beliefs Survey (DHBS) at the Dental hygienist clinic, the university of Kristianstad. Another aim of the study was to test the reliability of the assessment tools. Methods: Fifteen respondents answered the two questionnaires at two different occasions before Dental hygienist treatment. The results showed that nine respondents reported that they are absolutely calm when their Dental hygienist is going to remove tartar, while six are a little bit worried or tensed. The categories ethics, communication, trust and control in DHBS had a positive agreement (mean value 1.1 and 1.2).

The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge of Dental erosion and the consumption habits of soft drinks among secondary school students. Differences between the sexes should also be investigated. The study consisted of 102 students, 60 women and 42 men, in the eleventh grade from a school in the south of Sweden. A questionnaire with 25 questions, divided in two parts with focus on knowledge respective consumption pattern and behaviour, was handed out and collected by the authors. The data showed that more than 50% of the participants had knowledge about Dental erosion.

The aim of this study was to examine musculoskeletal disorders among Dental hygienists inrelation to work postures (sitting, standing, and altering) and to study differences in thegroups regarding numbers of disorders, locations and degrees. A mail questionnaire wasdistributed among 200 Dental hygienists in the region of Skåne. The response rate was 79 %.The majority of the Dental hygienists were working in a sitting position. Only43 Dental hygienists were altering their working position and two were working in a standingposition. The results showed that 85 % of the Dental hygienists have experiencedmusculoskeletal disorders in the last 12 months.

The aim of the study was to describe the oral health development among patients at the Public Dental Care clinic in Bromölla who made an agreement regarding Healthy Dental Care during the years 2001 and 2004, compared with patients who did not made such an agreement. The study material was obtained from Dental journals in total at 150 patients. Data regarding age, sex, health status, tobacco use, plaque- and gingivitis values, pocket depht, initial- and manifest caries, risk assessments, preventive measures by Dental personel and acute Dental care between year 2001 and 2004 was obtained from Dental results. Almost twice as many man made an agreement compared to women. Tobacco use was higher in control group both 2001 and 2004.

The aim of this study was to examine retiared individuals view of oral health and Dental care. A questionnaire was sent to three different retirement organizations and answared by 106 participants. Our studie showed that irrespective of education or health status, the majority considered oral health and Dental care was important and will become so in the future. Most elderly individuals can consider getting help with their oral health with oral health care in the future. This studie showed that the elderly are concerned about their appearance.

Den orala hälsan tas sällan om hand på rätt sätt och behovet av orala hälsoprogram är stort. Landet har också problem med höga fluorhalter i grundvattnen vilket har förödande konsekvenser för tänderna.  Syfte: Att studera förekomsten av Dental karies och Dental fluoros samt vilka munvårdsvanor barn 6-18 år har i Tanzania Frågeställningar: Vilken är förekomsten av Dental karies bland barn 6-18 år i Tanzania? Vilken är förekomsten av Dental fluoros bland barn 6-18 år i Tanzania? Vilka munvårdsvanor har barn 6-18 år i Tanzania? Metod: En litteraturstudie Resultat: Studierna visade att kariesförekomsten i de studerade åldersgrupperna var låg. Vanligast med karies i det permanenta bettet är i djupa fissurer och andra molaren i underkäken.

The aim of the study was to describe how hygienist`s receiving their certificate during 2003 and 2004, perceive their working situation, salary and impression of their first employment as a registered Dental hygienist. A questionnaire was sent out to new Dental hygienist`s examined year 2003 and 2004 in Sweden. Most of the new examined Dental hygienist`s found the education adequate or more than adequate. A few individuals found it inadequate. The ones finding the education inadequate wanted more clinical practice and more training in administrative work.

Toothbrushing is the best available method in remaining or restore Dental health in dogs. This report treats different aspects about toothbrushing and other Dental home care treatments in dogs. This essay concerns medical- and Dental tourism. The main purpose with the essay was to study which factors that affects Swedish choices to seek medical- and Dental care abroad and therefore reach an understanding for Swedish medical- and Dental tourism to other countries. The aim has also been to try to reach an insight in how Swedish medical- and Dental tourism might develop the future. The study is based on qualitative interviews with five officials who were well-grounded in the field. The theoretical framework concerned the need of travel, push- and pull factors, Maslow?s hierarchy of needs and the thinking about needs within business activities.

The aim of this study was to examine the differences in experience of the Dental hygienist education between newly examined Dental hygienists born abroad and born in Sweden. A quantitative study was performed. The questionnaire was sent out to all Dental hygienist (n=162) examined in Sweden 2006, except newly examined Dental hygienists in Karlstad University which is a distance education. The number who answered after the reminder was 102 respondents, 24 born abroad and 78 born in Sweden. The questionnaire contained 20 open and closed questions.

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to ascertain whether there was any interest among Dental hygienists, raising their level of competence throught attending additional courses or gaining further qualifications. The study was carried out by sending out two-hundred questionarires to randomly chosen Dental hygienists. After one remainder come the answer frequency up to 66%. The study shows that many of the Dental hygienists are interested to study at college. Many wanted raising level of comtpetence by education, wich also the study shows.

The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' knowledge about diet and Dental caries. The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire consisting of 19 questions regarding knowledge of diet and caries, and preventive measures. The questionnaires were distributed to parents who were visiting a Dental hygienist or prophylaxis nurse with their children aged 0-3 years. A total of 88 completed surveys were collected. The study showed that the majority of the parents had knowledge about diet and Dental caries.

Year 2004 nearly 1000 new cases of oral cancer were diagnosed in Sweden. An early discovery increases the chances for survival remarkably. The Dental profession has an important role in detecting oral cancer. Considering that Dental hygienists probably will have a greater responsibility in the future when it comes to examinations, knowledge of oral cancer will be important for this profession. The aim of this study was to examine the Dental hygienists knowledge of Oral Cancer in the county of Blekinge, Kalmar and Kronoberg, as well as their experiences in detecting oral cancer.
