The purpose of this paper is to analyse and discuss clinch-nails found at an excavation at terrace II in the Garrison of Birka, on the island of Björkö in Sweden. This type of clinch-nails is common in Viking age Sweden and is usually interpreted as coming from Boats. The study will try to show that these types of nails could have been used in several kinds of wooden constructions. It will also show how the nails were made and what kinds of tools were used by the Viking smiths. The study has shown that this type of nails were used in several different types of wooden constructions such as Boats, sleds, cart bodies, coffins, Birka's ramparts and buildings.

This is a study that was conducted during a three day exercise of the Swedish Armed Forces called ?Amfibieförbandet?, which is shortened as AMF, in Gothenburg. During the exercise three scientists followed the crew on the Boats and this is one of the studies that became the result of the observation made during the exercise. The Boats that was used during the three days were the boat called ?Stridsbåt 90H? by the Swedish armed forces.

Due to the fact that the company only built two Boats yet, the production documentation is not complete. The drawing that does exist is not in an exact standard which makes production planning harder.The purpose of this work has been to make the production of the boat easier and simplify further development and modification. Product development in the form of optimizing details is also one of the main purpose of this work.This is all done by making a 3D-assembly of all the existing drawings. After this is done new drawings will be made and added to the main assembly.

The value of the stolen goods is estimated to several hundreds of million Swedish crowns per year. The widespread stealing creates a secondary market where Boats sometimes are sold by sellers that do not have the rights to sell the boat. The Iron Age cemetery at Tuna in Badelunda parish, Västmanland, is a complex and unique burial ground used for only 69 graves during a period of roughly 700 years, between 300 - 1050 AC. The individuals buried at Tuna show an impressive variety of gravegods as well as stonesettings formed above the grave. Who where these people that were cremated at Tuna, among the mysterious women in the Boats and the rich women in grave X? As we study the graves of the cremated individuals we reach a new understanding of the cemetery; from its social structure down to every individual. Through the analysis of the stonesettings, gravegods and bones we see a how these subjects, when analysed, show a picture of the individuals and social structure of the cemetery.

A new shipyard on the island of Beckholmen consisting of a new ship hall and complementary workshops. The program is extended with rentable industrial space for other smaller companies to take advantage of synergies with the yard and to create an active maritime cluster around Beckholmen. By building a marina and a port at the northern shoreline of the island the shipyard can expand their potential customers to non-commercial and larger recreational Boats that are becoming increasingly common in Skärgården. The port is also supplemented with a combined naval fuel station, harbor office and a small café. The boat traffic in the region gets a additional stop at the end of the port and act as an additional gateway to Djurgården. Title: Eurythmics, and building Boats -A study in tacit knowledge.The education of eurhythmics at Malmö Academy of Music, is a program where a major part of the tutoring is oral; very little written information about the method is used. This essay will examine the forms in which the current knowledge base exists, as well as the methods in which this information is transmitted from teacher to student, and in which form the knowledge about the method of eurhythmics is existing. The tools for analysis are the theories on tacit knowledge. Interviews and written surveys are used as qualitative research methods. The content of these interviews and surveys are presented in the results chapter.

Dessa material är även idag populära men på grund av den ökande kunskapen om miljöpåverkningar har fler kunder blivit accepterande av alternativa material. Detta medför att båtproducenter nu kan lansera nya ersättande material med bättre miljöegenskaper.Denna fakta bas är grunden till detta examensarbete som handlade om att utveckla och formge en nya mer miljövänlig båtinredning baserad på alternativa material.

The purpose of this study is to determine who visits the V Frölunda Library, Gothenbug,what magazines they read and why. The data presented in this thesis are collectedusing four methods: general observation and counting numbers of visitors, interviewswith 202 magazine readers, the completion of 1308 questiomaires regarding approximately350 maghes and interviews with more than 100 library visitors.The data indicates that men are significantly overrepresented among magazine readersas compared to the female visitors. These men are primarily from the white collar sectorof the community. This leads to a pronounced underrepresentation of the blue coIlarworkers. Young people visit the magazine room in the library at a rate about twice thatexpected from the population distribution.Women are primarily interested in magazines dealing with the home whereas men aremore interested in business, cars, Boats and sports.

Uppsatsen undersöker orsaker till fenomenet girting, dvs olyckor där bogserbåtar dras ned och potentiellt kapsejsar vid bogsering av farkoster. Undersökningen utgår från 14 officiella haverirapporter om girtingsituationer världen över.  Med hjälp av modellen HFACS-MA kategoriseras olycksorsakerna i en orsakskedja för att utröna vilka kategorier som är mest frekvent förekommande i samtliga undersökta olyckor. Resultatet visar att dåligt förberedda bogseroperationer (med otillräcklig eller utebliven planering och riskbedömning), brister i organisationernas dokumentation (manualer, instruktioner och procedurer), samt bristande kommunikation mellan de inblandade parterna var de största faktorerna för girting. För att minska risken för girting har rekommendationer framtagits, som bl a innefattar vikten av att hålla dokumentation uppdaterad, hålla tydlig kommunikation mellan inblandade parter under bogseringsoperationer samt planera varje operation noggrant och ge alla inblandade möjlighet till återkoppling..

Leisure Boats of today have a lot of electronics that needs battery power to work. In additionto that electric propulsion systems have gotten more popular lately, which further increasesthe demand for high battery capacity. The batteries used are mostly lead-acid batteries and toget the most out of the batteries it is important to treat them right. To optimize the electricsystem it is important to have knowledge of how the batteries and the electric motor are usedand which factors affect e.g. efficiency and recharging.A new electric drive that can replace old diesel engines is being developed and needs testingand evaluation.
