Indirekt blodtrycksmätning hos hund och katt :

The objective of this study was to study the agreement between two methods of indirect Bloodpressure measurement in dogs and cats and to establish the within-method variation for the methods. The utility and practicality in the clinical setting were also evaluated for the both methods. The techniques evaluated were the oscillometric method and the Doppler ultrasonographic method. Thirtytwo dogs and 26 cats were used in the study and seven dogs and five cats out of these animals had diseases that may effect the Bloodpressure. Bloodpressure was measured in both anesthetized and in conscious animals.

The laboratory rat : improved welfare for mothers andpups through breeding in an enriched environment?

Maternal behaviour is crucial for the development of the rat pups? behaviour and stressresponses later in life. There are numerous studies evaluating the effects of the dams?behaviours on the pups, but not many addressing what can be made for wellbeing of the ratdams when breeding. Few studies have addressed the question of how the commonly usedrearing environment effects the dams? behaviour and in the long run how it effect the ratsreared to become our research models.

The aim of the work was to investigate the possibility to combine information from PPG and bio-acoustic technology to extract information that is related to the blood pressure. The measurements have been carried out with several different configurations. First the relation between arterial sounds and the PPG-signal was studied. After those measurements with both PPG and the bio- acoustic technique was concluded on people in different positions and after riding a bike. The goal was to vary the blood pressure.

The clinical picture in the Western world is dominated by lifestyle diseases in which individual behavior and attitudes have a significant impact on the health effect. In the society cardiovascular disease is seen as an illness factor and contribution to disability. Conditions for a good life are not only good health also factors such as intimate relationships and meaningful work which affect the person's quality of life.Aim:Lifestyle changes and quality of life for patients, regarding cardiovascular disease.Method:A literature review was made. Eight articles, quantitative and qualitative were analyzed.

Bandet mellan människa och hund : hundens anpassning och den bakomliggande fysiologin

Hundar har genom historien anpassat sig till ett liv med människan och har idag en viktig roll i vårt samhälle, både som arbetsredskap och sällskapsdjur. Ett starkt band har bildats mellan människa och hund, generellt sett starkare än med våra andra husdjur. Syftet med den här litteraturstudien är att undersöka vilka egenskaper hos hunden som gjort att den kommit så nära människan och hur de har uppkommit. Studier pekar på att hundar har en stor kognitiv förmåga, de har en förståelse för mänskligt beteende och kan tolka sociala signaler. De här egenskaperna kan vara en anledning till att hunden fått en så stor roll i samhället. Studier stödjer teorin om att detta antagligen uppkom under domesticeringen.
