The Röhsska museum in Gothenburg has recently launched a new work method, Backstage, that is studied and paralleled to the museums permanent exhibition on Japanese design. In Backstage the museums routine work is executed in full view of the museums visitors in an exhibition area. The study has focused on the museums intentions and the visitors? interpretations in Backstage and Japanese design, as well as the staff?s experience of the work method?s public aspects. The study?s empirical material has been collected through interviews with the museum staff as well as observations and interviews with visitors in both Backstage and Japanese design.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out how young adults experience the library and the space that they have access to. I used semi-structured interviews to find out about this and interviewed eight youths between the ages of 15 and 18 in a medium sized city in the province of Västra Götaland in Sweden. I then analyzed the material with the help of Goffman?s theory about front stage and back stage. I also did a small comparison with results from previous studies.The result showed that the youths generally liked the library and the staff but they had opinions on some issues.

The aim of this study examines how two groups of social workers at two workplaces reflect to their own clothes in various work situations. We want to gain an understanding of the variables that affects social workers choice of clothes at work. In a qualitative approach the study is based on two focus group-interviews and four semi structured interviews. Empirically analyzes relate to Pierre Bourdieu?s "la distinction, Ervin Goffman?s "frontstage-Backstage", and of Michele Foucault?s power concepts.

With emphasis on women's magazines and men, this essay will revolve around the image of the ideal woman. Our purpose was to examine whether men have a distinct image regarding the appearance and behaviour of the ideal woman. Next step was to establish whether the women's magazines also presented a specific image to their readers.The answers were found through a qualitative study that included ten men, and through an extensive analysis by women's magazines. The result indicated that both the men questioned and the women's magazines presented a clear view of an ideal woman. The views held by the men, were then compared to the images presented by the women's magazines and were found to be very similar.We used Erving Goffmans sociological theory to describe the actual woman and the ideal images of women that the men questioned and the women's magazines presented.

Ett mänskligt liv som vi, blivande landskapsarkitekter och stadens planerare och utformare, kan måna om och välja att göra utrymme för. För ?livet? uppstår inte bara av sig självt.

Detta är en undersökning med syftet att ta reda på vad en groupie är, vad det är som driver unga kvinnor att bli groupies samt hur det har sett ut från 1960-talet fram till idag. Detta då groupies fått dåligt rykte som några som enbart är ute efter att ha sex med rockstjärnor.Jag har utifrån intervjuer och litteraturstudier av biografier samlat in empiri från Lexa Vonn, Nikki McWatters och Pamela des Barres till undersökningen. Detta material har jag sen kopplat ihop med teorier om fans och fanskap för att komma fram till en slutsats. Resultatet visar att groupies drivs av kärlek till musiken och rockkulturen samt att de känner en samhörighet med musikerna de beundrar. Deras egen definition av vad en groupie är stämmer väldigt bra överrens med Sandvoss definition av fans.

The aim of this study has been to examine how a few members of the Finnish and non- Scandinavian Romani subgroups experience their own, and their groups, situation on the Housing- and Labour Market. We´ve studied our respondents? experiences of discrimination, which difficulties they think there are, what strategies can be used to deal with these difficulties and also their own ideas on how to improve the situation for the Romani people in the Swedish society. This has been done by six individual structured interviews which have been analyzed with concepts from Symbolic Interactionism, including Goffman?s Dramaturgical Role Theory, definition of Stigma and Kelly?s theory of Personal Constructions.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to explore how prison officers in Sweden manage their feelings in remand prisons versus inmates and colleagues. Due to changes in the prison officers occupational role and work environment we found it profoundly interesting to study how prison officers perceive and reflect on their emotion management, that relates to the work they perform. The prison officers occupational role includes tasks that corresponds with security work and rehabilitative labor towards inmates, this tend to create a complexity as the occupational role consists of contradictive tasks. They need to uphold safety by physical means simultaneously as they need to become more intimate with inmates to accomplish the rehabilitative tasks. The study proceeds with a qualitative inquiry with six interviews from three different remand prisons around Sweden.

One's cultural identity can be seen as a life-long project.The purpose of this paper is to do an in-depth text analysis to examine how Swedish politicians constituteand construct identities, with a focus on "the self" and the "mediatization self" on the micro-blog Twitter.The theoretical ground for this study is from a discourse analysis point of view that focus on ?the self? andthe ?meditization self?.

Purpose of this study is to describe and analyze school social work in rural area and being alone in social work at the school welfare/health team and how this affects the individual, professionally and privately.The theoretical framework highlights the empirical data through Goffman's dramaturgical perspective. The study highlights school social workers role on the scene as Goffman divided as the front and rear arena and how school social worker find strategies to cope with it alone work it takes to be a counselor in rural areas.One way to handle her role involves acting in one of the following three characters: the self-employed, infiltrator and tough guy.The study describes how the social worker harboring the stress in the profession; through recovery - physical and mental, on the back stage, Backstage.On stage there are other players such as student health team, which also acts and affect what happens on the front stage.School social workers are working hard to position itself in relation to other professions in student welfare/health team and to have a mandate to act.In the analysis, it appears that the school social workers want a clearer role profession/ occupation profession and mandate to act, which may be complicated by today is the only counselor in student welfare/health team lacking identity. There is also a desire for further/ continuing education, but this is seen as an organizational pitfall when the manager does not have the same educational background as school social worker.Ultimately, it is the peripatetic life as a social worker at the school who is considered the most exhausting part of the work as a school social worker in a rural area. There is a great desire among the interviewed school social workers to have fewer schools to relate to and work on..

Den snabba befolkningsutvecklingen i Stockholmsregionen orsakar stora problem i form av bland annat bostadsbrist och trängsel i transportsystemet. Nacka kommun är en av de kommuner i Stockholms län som växer snabbast varvid man planerar en omfattande förtätning i en del av kommunen, men för att detta ska vara möjligt krävs utbyggd kollektivtrafik. En förhandling inleddes 2013 mellan kommunen, landstinget och staten som kom att kallas för 2013 års Stockholmsförhandling och som resulterade i beslut om en förlängning av tunnelbanan till Nacka.Syftet med denna uppsats är att skapa ökad förståelse för hur förhandlingar vid planering av större stadsutvecklings- och infrastrukturprojekt som denna kan gå till och hur makt kan utövas inom dessa förhandlingar. Uppsatsen är ämnad att synliggöra hur maktrelationer inom dessa förhandlingar kan se ut, vilka typer av makt som kan utövas och hur detta kan gå till. Detta eftersom att förståelsen kring hur dessa komplexa förhandlingar går till är viktig för att skapa en transparens som i sin tur är viktig för demokratin.För att uppfylla detta syfte studeras flera olika teorier kring maktbegreppet och 2013 års Stockholmsförhandling studeras i en fallstudie.

Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att belysa hur bilden av socialtjänsten förmedlas på internetforumet Familjeliv.se. Vårt fokus har legat på barnfamiljers kontakt med socialtjänsten. Vi har undersökt om vi kan se några mönster i hur socialtjänsten beskrivs och om detta skiljer sig åt om är en ?klient? eller en socialarbetare som skriver inlägget. Syftet har också varit att belysa hur ett internetmedie påverkar sättet att kommunicera.

Denna uppsats behandlar frågeställningarna hur upplever och hanterar sjuksköterskor känslor i sitt arbete samt förekommer det psykologiska konsekvenser vid starka känsloupplevelser? Syftet är att belysa sjuksköterskors egna upplevelser och känslohantering kring deras vardagliga arbete. Vidare diskuteras psykologiska konsekvenser som kan orsakas av starka känsloupplevelser på längre sikt.Jag har genomfört en kvalitativ studie där jag använder mig av semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra sjuksköterskor som arbetar på ett sjukhus i Stockholmsområdet. Intervjuerna har analyserats utifrån Erving Goffmans teori Det dramaturgiska perspektivet och Arlie Hochschilds teori Känsloarbete. Begrepp som tas upp i analysen är bland annat front- respektive Backstage, roll, surface acting och deep acting.
