Den digitala skuggan : En studie om mediekritik och unga mediekonsumenter i ett digitalt nyhetslandskap

The purpose of this study is to examine Young peoples' perception of their media criticial competence in relation to digital news. The study is based on quantitative research interviews with Young people (15-17 years) and qualitative interviews with people in the same age group as well as teachers and international media professionals. This study's theoretical point of departure is McQuail´s observation that peoples' values and views to a great extent are influenced by the media. Another source of theoretical inspiration was Haberman's ideas about how a diversity of views and arguments increase the citizens' ability to reflect critically on social developments - maybe even more so than in societies with  independent media and "neutral" news. The study shows that the Young generation of web based news consumers assumes that it is very important to be an aware and critical consumer but also that they do not feel sufficiently equipped with the right tools required to understand the long-term impact and effect of the media reporting online. Young people basically seemed to acquire their knowledge about media by doing and learning on their own. Surprisingly, according to the Young people that were interviewed for this project, the schools seemed to play a secondary role in the development of their media critical capacity.

Sexualiserade rykten - en del av vardagen? : En studie av några unga kvinnors förhållningssätt till rykten.

The purpose of this thesis is to understand the ways in which rumors affect the everyday lives of a few Young women. The questions are: What kinds of rumors do the Young women find are the most common? How do they respond to these rumors? Do the rumors affect their everyday lives and if so, how do they react to them? Do they resist them? Do they feel limited by them? The empirical data was collected through unstructured interviews (focus groups) with three groups. The groups discussed different themes without prompting questions by the interviewer and it was clear that rumors played an important role, in multiple ways, in the lives of the Young women. The most common rumors were sexualized and were mostly concerned with the view that the Young women should not engage in ?too many? heterosexual relations ? preferably none.

Offer, aktör eller överlevare? : En diskursteoretisk analys av unga tjejers utsagor om att leva med sex som självskadebeteende

The purpose of this study is that through a discourse theoretical perspective, analyze Young girls 'statements about living with self-injuring by sexual behavior. The aim is to locate the discourses that surround them, visualize how discursive constructions affect these Young girls' identity as victims and/or actors in relation to self-injury, the sexual violence and in meetings with the professionals within the health authorities. In addition discourse theory as an analyze method, the authors also use Nils Christie's (2001) theory of the ideal victim and Ingrid Landers (2003) theoretical perspectives on normative femininity. The authors of the study show a diversity of discourses that surround the Young girls. All discourses contain normative actor- and victim?s positions that Young girls constantly are obliged to relate to, which partially conflict with social constructions of the idea of victim and femininity.

Våldtäkt och våldtäktsoffer. Analys av unga kvinnors synsätt.

AbstractThis essay concerns Young women´s point of view and discussions about rape and rape victims. The purpose was to examine Young women´s view on rape and rape victims. By Young women we mean 17 to 18 year-old-high school-students.Our main questions were how Young women define rape, if there are any circumstances were they blame the victim and/or consider her less trustworthy and how they explain rape. This study is based on one qualitatively oriented group interview, with six Young women, and four individual interviews, as compliment to the group interview. We have used our interviews and earlier research to answer our questions. The analysis is based on a feministic point of view and Nils Christies article on "ideal victims".The result that appeared was that the Young women´s broad definition of rape narrows down through the different circumstances concerning the alcohol consumption, the woman´s way of living and what clothes she was wearing, the acquaintance-level between the victim and perpetrator and how the woman says "no" to sex.

The aim with this study was to find out how Young people at age 16-19 years in Kalmar, Sweden use and interact through Facebook. The questions in our questionnaire were based on three themes, these are; friendship relations on Facebook, what influence Facebook has on Young people and how they choose to present themselves on Facebook. The theory that was applied on this study is of social-psychological kind. We chose the theory because we figured it would be suitable to further explain and dispute the aim of the study. The result shows that many different variables can matter in a study like this. We chose to look at a few, such as for example sex and age and we found out that there is a great difference between the way girls and boys use Facebook and how they choose to present themselves in this social media. Another conclusion that our study led to is that Facebook is an important tool for Young people, in the meaning that they use it since it makes it easier to communicate with their friends and it also strengthens their relationships with their friends. Keywords: Facebook, Young people, Friendship, Facebook and Social Relations, Facebook use among adolescents & Facebooks? impact on adolescents..

This is the first of the two parts that I have devided my thesis into. The second part is qualitative and examines four Young politicians, and their thoughts on holding a position that is so unusual to hold at their age. This is the basis for my analysis where I bring up age as a form of discrimination.

Att bli synad i sömmarna : en studie av fyra ungdomars upplevelse av att vara utredningsplacerade på en institution

The purpose of the essay is to, in retrospect, take a closer look at how the Young people experienced their placement for assessment at Albogården and what it resulted in. With this purpose I inadvertently came to look at other aspects, for instance their lives before and after the placement. The underlying questions were:* The Young people social situations before the placement?* The experience of being locked up?* What was it like being analysed?* What are the Young people's thoughts on the methods of working at Albogården - rules, procedures, methods etc.?* What were the results from the placement at Albogården? Did something change in the Young people's social situations? To answer my questions I interviewed four persons that previously were placed for assessment. To ascertain information on how the assessment is done I also interviewed the director of Albogården. I also studied relevant literature. The investigation showed that a majority of the Young people didn't understand the purpose or felt participant in the assessment, being restless and locked up felt extremely arduous and violating.
