In this thesis we have examined if some Young people's identity is influenced by television programs. We chose to illustrate this from a gender perspective and have made use of social construction theory. We did group interviews with 13 youngsters, in three groups, to find out how much insight they had in what they watch, if they believe that they are affected and how they believe that gender roles in television programs often look. Our questions are: Does Young people's identity take influence of the TV program? How? Creates a social construction of gender in the television programs that Young people are watching? Is there awareness among Young people on what they watch and how is this in this case out? Important to emphasize is that our results are not necessarily representative of youngsters in general when we only had the opportunity to interview a few.

Due to the decrease in obtaining driver?s licenses among Young people, the main purpose of this study was to acquire a deeper understanding of Young people?s attitudes towards driver?s license and towards driver?s education. This is a qualitative study with a theoretical approach, which combines Bourdieu with post modern theories. By using focus groups a wide rage of attitudes among Young people have been gathered. Having a driver?s license is still considered a standard among Young people even though their attitude mostly depends on their need for one.

The interest in the subject of this study was raised during our education when we read about thedifficulties for Young people to find a place at the labour-market.The aim of this study was to find out what the view of the possibilities to find a place on the labourmarketis for Young people, 16 - 18 years old, who don't follow a national program but follow theindividual program.Both quantitative and qualitative methods have been used through a survey questionnaire and agroup-interview. The results show that Young people know that education is important to get a jobbut at the same time the majority says that they would leave school if they got a job-offer. TheYoung people think that they have a relatively good knowledge about the labour-market but at thesame time they can't describe what it imply. This could mean that there is a gap between school andworking life. .

This study examines social workers' perceptions of their daily work with Young people who abuse alcohol and drugs. The purpose of this study was to examine how social workers' perceptions are affected by gender and main drug of choice of activities for Young people who abuse. Methodically the study was conducted with qualitative interviews with social workers active in youth substance abuse treatment. The study was carried out a review of previous research in relation to empirical data for the reason to have a discussion of possible explanations of social workers' perceptions and their daily work with Young people who abuse alcohol and drugs. The results showed that social workers' perceptions of their daily work with Young people are about attitude, reflection and development opportunities in the practical session with the youth.

The main purpose of this thesis was to examine how hospital librarians worked with Young people at a children?s and Young people?s hospital in Sweden. We wanted to see how they promoted their health with culture and cultural means such as book trolleys. We did a case study, and made three qualitative interviews with the hospital librarians. The purpose was also to find out what the hospital librarians thought of Young peoples.

The aim of the thesis is to study Young peoples, defined as boys and girls between 14 and 16 years old, attitudes to library in two municipalities. Notwithstanding the fact that Young people, and children, often is given priority in library work, the reality often seems to be another. Attitudes are founded primarily in childhood and therefore it is of great importance to examine how Young people regard libraries. Besides studying former research about Young people and libraries that has been performed on library and information science, we also have been using concepts and theories from social science. We give a brief outline of youth research and its development and look at official records and legislation to see if and in what context Young people are mentioned.

How do the police prevention methods work against juvenile delinquency? The purpose of this study is to see how the police work to prevent juvenile delinquency in two municipalities in Stockholm, Södertälje and Sundbyberg. Additionally, the purpose of this study is also to find out if there are any similarities or differences between the police methods the police use in these two municipalities. We have used qualitative method in which we have interviewed the police and Young people from the communities. We interviewed Young people to see their attitudes to the police and the area to find their perception of police work in the fields as well as the police forces attitude toward the Young people.

The aim of this study is to examine how Young people look at and perceive drugs by studying how they discuss and reason about drugs. The essay's main interest is not whether Young people use drugs or not. We are primarily interested in how Young people talk about drugs. The questions that we want to get answered are:What are the beliefs that Young people have about drugs, drug use and drug users? More specifically we seek answers to which images, symbols and attributes that Young people links to drugs, drug use and drug users.What is important in Young people's construction of beliefs about drugs and drug users? More specifically, which are the information sources and reference groups that Young people assigns significance?We used focus group interviews as the research method.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to study librarians? views on children and Young people as Internet users in Swedish libraries. It examines what types of problems and possibilities the librarians see with children?s and Young people?s use of the Internet, how these problems might be solved, and what they think about regulations and filters. Qualitative interviews were conducted with nine librarians, and their statements were analysed with David Buckingham?s After the death of childhood as a theoretical foundation.

The aim of this masters thesis is to examine the supply of magazines and periodicals for Young people at the library. We also examine Young peoples reading of magazines and periodicals and compare the librarys selection with what Young people read. The main questions of this thesis are: What do Young people do at the library on their spare time? What weekly magazines and periodicals do Young people read? What range of magazines and periodicals do the city- and the school library have? Where is the department located and how is it designed? What kind of relationship is there between Young peoples reading and the selection? To answer these questions we have done an interview with a librarian and a questionnaire among 13-16 year old children. We found that it is not often that Young people read their magazines and periodicals at the library.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the library habits of Young people, age 15 to 24. Our empirical data are gathered in a survey distributed to 104 young men and women at three different public libraries. The questions are about how Young people use the public library, what media and services they use and whether or not they are content with what the public library can offer them. In our analysis we have compared our results to previous research and used a model by Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hansen to determine how they use the library.

Mental health problems among Young people - causes and actions Results from several studies indicate that the prevalence of mental illness among Young people has increased recently. This paper has a qualitative approach where three counselors and a school nurse was interviewed. The purpose of this study is to try to get an idea of how these staff are working with Young people suffering from mental illness at school. The aim is also to examine whether there is an opportunity for the staff to work proactively to promote mental health..

In this paper, I am using a critical discourse analysis a la Fairclough to examin how various actors talk about the group of unemployed youths in the 52 articles from Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet. What?s written in media often portrays different ideas that individuals use in social practice. My theoretical points are social constructivism, risk-, expert-, and media society. Four themes crystallized in the analysis; young and unemployed, education, jobbgaratin and youth and labor market.
