The main purpose of this essay is on one hand to try to find and explain the formula of success of the rock group Status Quo, and on the other to elucidate and explain the foundation and essence in the music made by Status Quo, but also to study how, if and why the foundation and essence have changed over the years. The method of investigation is partly based on a musical analysis of three albums from three different periods: Hello! (1973), Ain´t Complaining (1988) and Heavy Traffic (2002), and partly on a sociological study of the group?s career between 1962 and today, 2005.The first part of the essay concerns the period between 1962-1973 with an analysis of the album Hello!; the second part concerns the period 1974-1988 and the album Ain´t Complaining; finally, the third part concerns the years between 1989-2002 with an intensified analysis of the album Heavy Traffic. In the forth part of the essay I discuss the career of Status Quo from a sociological point of view.I run to the conclusion that the essence of Status Quo is the boogie-woogie comp on Fender guitar by Rick Parfitt, the riff on Francis Rossis´ Fender guitar in combination with the base, the piano and the drums. This has been the essence through all the years, even though it was more difficult to apprehend it during the 1980s.

Detta examensarbete är en undersökning om elevers syn på sina egna bilder och vad somhänder med den när bilderna presenteras i en utställning.Syftet med studien är att undersöka på vilket vis en utställning av elevers bilder kan habetydelse för hur eleverna reflekterar över sitt arbete och på så vis även ha betydelse förlärprocessen.Frågan som undersökts lyder ?Vilken betydelse kan visuell och rumslig presentation avelevers bilder ha för hur de själva värderar och reflekterar över bilderna??Undersökningen har gjorts på en gymnasieskola med två klasser i kursen estetiskkommunikation. Eleverna har fått gestalta bilder och efter arbetet intervjuats om vad detyckte om bilderna. Bilderna presenterades för eleverna på nytt i form av en utställning ochnya observationer och samtal gjordes för att ta reda på vad eleverna tyckte om bildernaunder utställningen.Undersökningsmaterialet har analyserats genom att jämföra hur eleverna värderar ochreflekterar över sina bilder innan och efter utställningen, för att kunna få syn på vilkenbetydelse den visuella och rumsliga presentationen kan ha.Som blivande pedagog känns det viktigt att få en fördjupad förståelse för hurpresentationen av elevers bilder kan ses som en tillgång i bildundervisningen.Tolkning och resultat har prövats med hjälp av olika teorier såväl pedagogiska filosofersom designteorier och forskning om vad utställandet gör med bilden.Jag använder mig av gestaltande metoder under arbetets gång i formandet avutställningen som presenteras för eleverna. Gestaltningen består av en sammansättning av58 elevers bilder som satts ihop i tre bilder och ramats in, och ett bildspel som visar varjebild var för sig.

The object of this study has been to establish whether there is a correlation between a teachers efforts in presenting, working with and creating a connection to ?real life? when working with fictional texts. A further hypothesis is that presentation, realization and the follow up activities has a correspondence to how well the goals for the lesson are achieved. In order to achieve the presented objects the methods of observation and interview are chosen. Firstly classroom observations are made and subsequently interviews with teachers that struggle with these questions on a regular basis are conducted.

The aim of this masters thesis is to examine the picture book canonization process in pre-schools. To succeed in this I have examined what pre-school staff believe to be the criteria of a good picture book. Together with an observation of the pre-schools current collection, other factors which can influence the collection of the picture book are included. This constitutes the foundation for a description of the pre-school picture book canon. To pursue this goal, I have used the methodology of focus group interviews with staff from two pre-schools in a middle-sized town.

Purpose: Our purpose is to describe and understand how a project-based, knowledge-intensive firm in the high-technology industry creates and transfers knowledge, seen from two perspectives.Methodology: Our qualitative case study has an explorative approach since earlier studies within our positioning are absent, thus we look at KM abductively. To gain more depth to our study, we mirror our findings from our case company with data collected from three additional organisations.Theoretical perspectives: We see a clear distinction between researchers, either seeing knowledge as an object or a process. Thus, we review theories from both sides, either focusing on the creation or transferring of knowledge. In addition, theories on KM in project organisations areaccounted for.Empirical foundation: The study is based on the empirical foundation which consists of the data received through six interviews with employees at our main case company and, additionally, two interviews at each of our three mirrorcompanies.Conclusion: The study found KM being seen from both perspectives in all four firms. Through this, we found implications for how our case company could proceed in the future..

AbstractThe author Selma Lagerlöf was born in 1858 at Mårbacka, in Värmland and died in 1940. Fifty years after Selma´s death were her correspondence released and ten thousand of letters were found in the collection. But it was just the correspondence between Selma and Sofie Elkan who interested people because they wanted to know if Selma and Sofie have had a sexual relationship. Later, in time for Christmas 2008 the Swedish Television shows a film about Selma. "Selma Lagerlöf Society" was critical to the movie and thougt that the movie focused too much on Selma`s sexual orientation.

Syftet är att stödja uppdragsgivaren, Kulturgeografiska institutionen vid Umeå universitet, och andra med dessa verktyg. Med hjälp av den egenutvecklade modellen SVERIGE kan man göra experiment i full skala med en syntetisk population som motsvarar hela Sveriges befolkning. Detta examensarbetes syfte var att ta fram möjlighet till geografisk presentation för den grafiska klienten till SVERIGE. Detta som ett komplement till de tabeller som genereras vid körningar av modellen.

SammanfattningAntalet personer som önskar vård i livets slut i hemmet har ökat i Sverige, vilket innebär att hemsjukvården och palliativa teamen fått en alltmer betydande roll. Närstående blir ofta automatiskt involverade i vården av sin närstående. Syftet med studien var att beskriva närståendes upplevelser och förväntningar vid första besöket med palliativa teamet i hemmet. Studien var en kvalitativ intervjustudie med beskrivande design. Metoden som valdes var semistrukturerade intervjuer från åtta närstående, en kvalitativ manifest innehållsanalys användes för att bearbeta insamlad data.

AbstractConcrete foundation slabs are usually exposed to unilateral drying during the curing process. The unilateral drying causes an axial shrinkage and a concave curvature of the construction. The curvature results from the fact that the upper part of the slab is drying and shrinking faster than the lower part. This is called gradient shrinkage.A problem occurs when the slab is considered fully restrained by adjoining structural parts. The deformations caused by axial contraction due to the constant part of the shrinkage and the curvature caused by gradient shrinkage of the slab are then prevented by the fact that the slab is fully restrained.

Institutionen Tillämpad fysik och elektronik på Umeå Universitet använder sig av lärandeplattformen Moodle för hantering av kurser med tillhörande uppgifter och material kring dem. På Moodle laddar studenterna upp dokument och lärare betygssätter dem, vartefter en avklarad kurs registreras hos LADOK. Detta projekt kommer omfatta teori om hur Moodle är uppbyggt (version 2.4), hur utveckling av moduler sker, samt för- och nackdelar beroende på om operativsystemet Windows eller Linux används.Utvecklingen av moduler omfattar kodning av två stycken. Den ena modulen skall gå att implementeras till Moodle för att användas till kurser av institutionen för att underlätta kontrollen av inlämnade dokument som ännu ej är behandlade av lärare.
