Rwanda och Darfur karaktäriseras som två av de mest fruktansvärda etniska krig i modern tid. Etnicitetens roll uppfattas spela en mycket viktig roll samt vara den grundläggande orsaksförklaringen till konflikterna. Detta anser vi dock vara en förenklande och missvisande bild som bör ifrågasättas. Enligt det socialkonstruktivistiska synsättet skapas etnicitet i relation till någon annan samt är i ständig förändring och utveckling. Såväl Rwanda som Darfur är starkt präglade av tidigare kolonialmakters välde, vilket bidragit till en polariserande effekt av de olika etniska tillhörigheterna.

The aim of my work was, from the point of view from my respondents and literature, to create a picture of why so many highly educated people born abroad don't have an employment that coincides with their education.The question at issue was: How come highly educated people born abroad don't have an employment that coincides with their education from the native country?In my work, I carried out interviews with six highly educated people born abroad that moved to Sweden in the 1990's. In my results and my conclusion I started with the view of the respondents and the literature, linked together to some theories I have found fruitful for my understanding of the respondents' answers.The theoretical starting point for analysis of my work was the human capital theory, the theory of growth, the signal and filter theory and Habermas' theory.The result of my studies show that there are several factors that causes many highly educated people born abroad to have difficulties in getting an employment that coincides with their education. Such factors are weaknesses in the language, the lack of networks within one's profession and the fact that it takes a long time to complement the education..

Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka musikens roll och betydelse inom event marketing. Idag är event marketing ett vedertaget och accepterat marknadsföringsverktyg och en effektiv väg att nå konsumenter. För att föstå hur hur företag inom denna sektor använder sig av musik för att påverka människor och hur strategiska val rörande musiken utförs gjordes en fallstudie på tre olika företag inom event marketing industrin. The discussion of the swedish treatment of offenders often revolves round the two contradictions punishment and care. Modern prison is described to be based on values such as humanity, care and respect, although the main task is to protect the society from criminals by keeping them locked up. This study focused on the role of the prison officer with the purpose of understanding how he sees his profesional role in an organisation influenced by punishment and care.Central questions are: How does the prison officer handle his role as caretaker in an organisation where he not only has the right to, but also is obliged to, controle and power his clients? How does the prison officer define his working role and does he find any dificulties in combining these?The research was realized during the months of April and May 2005 through qualitative interviews and conversations with prison officers working in a swedish prison. It also contained a minor fieldstudy in that same prison.The results showed that the principle conflict between punishment and care have an insignificant influence on the daily work of the prison officer.

Forskning visar att läraren ses som den viktigaste faktorn i elevers prestation. Den senaste PISA-mätningen visar att svenska elevers kunskapsresultat har försämrats. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka lärarnas upplevelser av hur lärrarollen har förändrats, vilken inverkan lärarens roll har på elevers prestationer samt vilka bakomliggande orsaker kan anses ha bidragit till svenska elevers försämrade resultat. För att kunna besvara vårt syfte så har vi valt att utföra vår undersökning genom att göra en kvalitativ studie med semistrukturerade intervjuer samt med tidigare forskning relaterad till vårt ämne. För att kunna besvara vårt syfte blir frågeställningarna följande: På vilket sätt upplever lärarna att deras roll har förändrats i klassrummet? Vad för inverkan anser lärarna att deras roll har på elevers prestationer? Vad anses enligt lärarna vara bakomliggande orsaker till svenska elevers försämrade resultat? Teorier som vi behandlat är det dramaturgiska perspektivet, idealroller såsom chefen, handledaren, coachen samt den monokratiska byråkratin.

Tail-biting in pigs is an animal welfare issue and in Sweden during 2002 the producers lost tree million Swedish crowns because of tail biting. This economic loss depends on the pigs which are discarded at slaughter because of tail biting. Tail biting can be separated into two stages, "pre-injury" and "injury". The aim of this study is to investigate if tail biting depends on environment or genetic background.A lot of research on the environments effects on the behaviour of pigs but not so much on the genetic effects has been performed. The frequency of tail biting in pig farms influence among others of environment enrichment, ventilation, gender and breed of the pig.

This study concerns congenital defects in pigs; umbilical and scrotal hernia, cryptorchidism, kyphosis, splay legs, anal atresia, intersexuality and congenital tremor. The aim was to describe and estimate the prevalence of these defects and estimate the heritability for the most frequent defects, scrotal hernia and cryptorchidism in purebred Swedish Hampshire, Landrace and Yorkshire populations. Furthermore, information and opinions from herdsmen in commercial herds was collected and analysed. A low proportion of congenital defect pigs is of importance both from animal welfare and economic point of view. The accuracy of registration of the presence of defects in the litters has a decisive role for the ability to select against these defects.

Youth unemployement in Sweden is at an all-time high, a fifth of all university and college students live in poverty and the number of young on welfare is increasing. This study attempts to answer the question of how youth deprivation has been made possible as a consequence of political action, focusing on youth unemployment.I critically examine the role of the Swedish government, the Swedish Labour Organisation (LO), and the various government departments through text analysis, in order to answer the question of how the current discourse on youth position in the labor market. Because youth unemployment is not an isolated phenomena the analysis covers several policy areas, such as education policy, labor market regulation and housing policy. I use discourse theories drawn from Laclau and Mouffe to expose how language is used as an instrument of political power.I conclude that the current situation is a result of policy choices where the young have fallen behind due to lack of political organization. Their situation is not problematized to the required degree and is often explained on an individual level rather than on a structural level..

During the 19th centaury Liverpool was an industrial city of great magnitude owing to the well-established communication and infrastructure in the area. During the 1950?s the industry decrease swiftly - and although Liverpool as a city gain interest as a result of the sensation of the Merseybeat and The Beatles - the reduction continued through the 70?s and during the 80?s the people of Liverpool suffered from great unemployment. Today Liverpool is a post-industrial city with a growing experience economy that mainly benefits from The Beatles tourism and the Merseybeat-era. The focus of these studies is the experience economy in Liverpool as a result of globalization and production in the late modernity.

Under de senaste åren har ekonomiska problem uppstått i tidningsbranschen i samband meddigitalisering av media. UNT (Upsala Nya Tidning) levererar numera nyheter i flera olikadigitala kanaler. Fokus ligger på att bli mer öppen, snabb, interaktiv och tillgänglig. Den ökadeinteraktionen med läsare ställer krav på att journalister måste förändra sin roll i jämförelse medhur man tidigare arbetat med läsarkontakter. I en fallstudie av UNT har vi gjort kvalitativaintervjuer med medarbetare på UNT samt läsare, med syfte att undersöka journalistens roll iinteraktion med läsare.

Syftet med studien är att ta del av förskollärares reflektioner, tankar och beskrivningar av hur de i förskolans verksamhet ser på barnlitteratur och i vilka pedagogiska sammanhang förskollärare använder barnlitteratur. Empiriinsamlingsmetoden är kvalitativ och vi har utfört intervjuer med åtta verksamma förskollärare. Resultatet visar att barnlitteratur sällan används som pedagogiskt verktyg men används däremot i olika pedagogiska sammanhang till exempel under vilan eller när barnen själva ber om att få en bok uppläst för sig. Slutsatsen är att det finns många aspekter som spelar roll vid en högläsningsstund tillsammans med barnen i förskolans verksamhet.

Children's Need In Focus (BBIC) is a processing and documentation system used in child welfare cases to investigate, plan and monitor interventions. The BBIC has had a breakthrough in Sweden and out of the country's 290 municipalities, there are 284 that use the system daily as a tool in cases involving children. The purpose of this study was to examine how social workers experience the BBIC as a working system and what strengths and weaknesses there are in the BBIC concept. We wanted our study to examine how the BBIC could possibly enhance the quality of childcare matters, but also how the BBIC could potentially increase children's participation in cases. We have performed qualitative interviews with eight social workers who work in four different municipalities where the BBIC is applied daily.

The aim of this essay was to examine children's experiences of having a pathological gambler as a parent, which consequences this led to socially, economically and emotionally, if those children got any help and in that case where and what kind of help.Central questions asked where:* In what way did the child experience consequences from the parent's gambling?* How did the child experience the gambling parent during the gambling period?* In what way did the gambling affect the relationship between the parent and the child?* How did the parent's gambling affect the child socially, emotionally and economically?* How did the child handle this?* What help did the child itself think it required?* Where did the child got help?This is a qualitative study of nine today adult persons that grown up with a pathological gambler as a parent. The method is qualitative semi structured interviews.The results of the study are that all of them experienced large consequences socially, emotionally and economically. The consequences varied depending on the total situation in the family. The result shows that all of them have got coping abilities and they have applied more to emotion-focused forms of coping than to problem-focused coping..

Introduktion: Att någon gång drabbas av psykisk ohälsa blir allt vanligare, därför är betydelsen av forskning inom området stor. Sjuksköterskor med sin specifika omvårdnadskompetens utgör den största personalgruppen inom psykiatrisk öppenvård men sjuksköterskans roll inom psykiatrisk öppenvård är begränsat beskriven i vetenskaplig litteratur. Detta innefattar aspekter kring sjuksköterskans egen roll samt i relation till andra yrkesgrupper inom psykiatrisk öppenvård. Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskans upplevelse av sin egen roll inom psykiatrisk öppenvård samt upplevelsen av interaktionen med andra yrkesgrupper i sitt arbete. Metod: Studien var en deskriptiv intervjustudie med kvalitativ ansats.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vilken roll skönlitteraturen fyller i svenskundervisningen i årskurserna 4-6 och hur väl den uppfyller kraven beträffande skönlitteratur i den svenska kursplanen. Jag har analyserat tre läromedel och fokus på den analysen har varit skönlitteratur på de redan nämnda årskurserna. För att få ett kvalitativt resultat har jag valt fyra frågeställningar och dessa svar baserar min uppsats på. Läromedelsförfattarna har, enligt min analys, påvisat att det finns fem olika funktioner som skönlitteraturen uppfyller i deras läromedel. Dessa har jag sedan ställt mot varandra för att undersöka om de uppfyller kraven.
