This essay shows how the concept of virtue can deepen our understanding considering processes of empowerment. A virtue is understood as a trait of character, manifested in habitual action, that it is good for person a to have. Virtues are interpreted as socially constructed. Empowerment is presented as a process toward self-confidence and self-determination where recourses and freedom propels the development toward power for the individual, the household and the community. Why does the concept of virtue deepen our understanding? It is argued that our theoretical perceptive of empowerment needs to better encompass values, norms and practise.

Stress is common in today?s society, but the word stress has numerous connotations. The aim of this study was to investigate how dogs are effected by stress and what the veterinary nurse can do to help dogs to avoid or at least mitigate stress within the veterinary hospital. The goal was also to see how dogs perceive the environment in the veterinary hospital and what behaviours dogs demonstrate when they enter the hospital and during their stay. Studies have shown that dogs have a reluctant feeling on entering a veterinary hospital. They can feel stressed by coming to a new environment, as well as by being put in a cage with no control over what is going to happen to them.

This study is set out to examine if there is any kind of influence between the EU and Swedish gender policy. More specific the Swedish efforts within the gender policy area, especially in the area of social policy and employment, during the Swedish presidency in the Council of Ministers 2001. And also to examine the impact of Europeanization in Swedish gender policy. We have decided to delimit our study to care of elderly and children when it comes to the area of social policy. We are using a descriptive, examining qualitative method.

Thou it´s mainly due to a patient perspective should also nurses' perspectives be significant to obtain a faceted perception of the phenomenon.Aim: The purpose of this study was to describe how nurses perceive the phenomenon of anticipation of a somatic emergency department.Method: The analysis was performed using a phenomenological approach. The study was conducted in a medium-sized hospital in southern Sweden, during the latter part of 2005, and had a qualitative approach based on a lifeworld perspective. Data collection consisted of written stories from twelve nurses.Results: The results indicated that the waiting was the scene of the expectations. These expectations led to dilemmas, powerlessness and frustration, the more the phenomenon was allowed to stand.

This master thesis in economics discusses the time use of today as well as the observed trends in time use over the last 20 years in Sweden. This is done by analysing time-use and consumption data at the microeconomic level, i.e. by explaining individual behaviour given the economic assumption of a rational behaviour. We reach the conclusion that the value of time is an important explanatory variable concerning the rationality in that time is used differently by different individuals and in the changed use of time. Furthermore, other variables such as social norms and the process benefit of a certain activity, i.e.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att jämföra det retoriska spelet i media runt affären mellan Old Mutual och Skandia med affären mellan MAN och Scania för att sedan belysa intressenternas roll och betydelse. Uppsatsen utgår från Bentemark och Pedersens (2006) studie om retoriska strategier vid ett fientligt bud. Utifrån den studien genomför vi en medieanalys av debatten runt MAN:s bud på Scania. Vårt resultat jämförs med det från Bentemark och Pedersen (2006), där både likheter och skillnader upptäcktes. Därefter belyses intressenternas roll i debatten och det sker med hjälp av teorier av bland annat Rhenman (1964), om företagets intressenter, och Mitchell et al.

The purpose of this paper is to give a view of how violence and victims has been portrayed in novels. I have chosen 6 books where the main character is a child who has been exposed to physical, mental and/or sexual violence. I have asked questions to the book and I have tried to find patterns in the child's strategy to cope with violence and how the violence is described. I have also written two chapters about earlier studies of this field and theoretical standpoints. The main perspective I present is the salutogenese perspective and how people create meaningfulness in their lives.The children in the books have different ways to handle their situations.

Syftet med denna studie är att se hur pedagogerna förhåller sig till lek och hur de agerar i den. Studien tar upp olika lekteorier där bland annat Piaget, Erikson, Vygotskij och Bateson nämns. Den tar även upp pedagogens roll i leken där den vuxne är barnets första lekkamrat, pedagogen som bekräftar och skyddar leken, som tar en roll och som avbryter leken. Metoden för datainsamlingen var observationer och ostrukturerade intervjuer. Urvalet bestod av sex pedagoger på en förskola i södra Sverige.

The aim of this essay was to examine the impact that parents drug abuse have on their children´s chances and possibilities while growing up. This study is done by investigating literature written by acknowledged authors and experts in this field. The following questions were asked:How does the literature describe the influence of parent´s drug abuse on their child´s ability to develop and learn?Which factors does the literature distinguish as determining factors on the child´s ability to resist and recover, from a childhood with drug abusing parents?The result of this essay showed that having drug abusing parents constitute different types of risks when it comes to the child´s ability to develop and learn. How the child is able to cope with it´s parents drug abuse is determined by several factors such as, the situation in the family, the child´s personality and how people in the child´s surrounding react on the child´s needs..

Bakgrund: Sedan den gynekologiska cellprovtagningen startade i Sverige har insjuk-nandet i livmoderhalscancer minskat med mer än 60 %, och dödligheten i sjukdomen har minskat, genom tidig behandling. Idag går cirka 80 % av Sveriges kvinnor på gy-nekologiska cellprovskontroller. Det finns studier om hur kvinnor upplever gynekolo-gisk cellprovtagning och kunskap om varför de väljer att delta eller inte delta i scree-ning-programmet. Barnmorskan möter i sitt vardagliga arbete kvinnor som skall ge-nomgå gynekologisk cellprovskontroll. Det finns få studier baserade på barnmorskans roll i främjandet av kvinnors deltagande i gynekologisk cellprovskontroll.Syfte: Studiens syfte var att beskriva barnmorskans uppfattning av sin roll för främ-jandet av kvinnors deltagande i gynekologisk cellprovskontroll.

Äldreomsorgen står inför ständiga förändringar och i dagsläget neddragningar. I Norrköpings kommun har ett projekt startats för att kunna ta tillvara på personalens innovativa förmåga. Personalen verkar tillsammans med chefen i ett arbetsklimat som kan vara både bra och dåligt. Klimatet kan även präglas av om idéer kan genomföras mer eller mindre enkelt. Den här studien har gjorts för att bidra till att utöka kunskapen om enhetschefens roll i innovativa klimat i äldreomsorgen.Syftet med uppsatsen är att ta fram och sprida kunskap om enhetschefers roll i hanteringen av innovativt klimat.

Bakgrund: Tuberkulos (TB) är en infektionssjukdom som dödar nära två miljoner människor varje år och utgör ett stort lidande för de människor som är drabbade. Sjukdomen är en av de vanligaste i världen och fortsätter att växa globalt.Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva sjuksköterskans roll i omvårdnaden till patienter med TB och deras närstående. Syftet varockså att granska kvalitén på de i studien ingående artiklarna avseende urval.Metod: Studien genomfördes som en beskrivande litteraturstudie där 13 artiklar granskades. Varav nio kvantitativa, tre kvalitativa och en med både kvantitativ och kvalitativ ansats. Resultat: Sjuksköterskan har ett ansvar i omvårdnaden av patienter med TB och deras närstående.

Ledarens roll förutom att styra verksamhetens uppsatta mål och visioner är att se till att få medarbetarna med sig, utan dem fungerar inte verksamheten. Ledarens stil påverkar medarbetarnas välmående. Ett auktoritärt ledarskap har visat sig leda till större sjukfrånvaro både på kort- och lång sikt medan en demokratisk ledare oftare har medarbetare som mår bra, utvecklas och presterar bättre. Åtta intervjuer gjordes med ledare inom olika branscher inom näringslivet. Studiens syfte belyser ledarens tankar och agerande kring sin egen hälsa samt deras anställdas hälsa.
