With a new digital world that runs parallel with our physical one, we are also facing a new type of architecture and new materials that this new architecture is built on. In this thesis I examine pixels and vectors, two of the digital materials used to create pictures. By approaching them as digital materials, I have mapped their different qualities, when and where one or the other is more or less applicable and the reason behind it. My main research question asked was the following: Are the (digital) materials challenged outside their primary fields of application, and in that case, in which way? With this question in mind, I carried out a semiotic picture analysis on four pictures, later on dividing them into four different categories, based on their different qualities and their ability to deliver information.

GIS är inte längre en ny teknologi utan har funnits i snart fem decennier. Trots det har GIS inte hittat sin plats i den svenska gymnasieskolan, jämfört med t.ex. webb-design och andra datorteknikkurser som har funnits under en kortare tid. På den tekniska gymnasieutbildningen på Polhemsskolan i Gävle har GIS-utbildning bedrivits sedan 1999.De slutsatser som framkommer i rapporten är att en teknisk GIS-utbildning inte enbart är för elever på tekniska gymnasieutbildningar utan även för elever på andra gymnasieprogram eftersom de har samma förutsättningar att lära sig verktyget. Det konstateras även att det genom åren har funnits både nationella och internationella problem med att införa GIS-undervisning i gymnasieskolan.

Det här arbetet innefattar webbtillgänglighet med avseende hur väl ett antal utvalda universitet och högskolor följer de riktlinjer för personer med läs- och skrivsvårigheter. Problemet med att inte ha en webbtillgänglig webbplats är att en stor grupp av personer som går miste om innehållet. Det är dessutom inte bara personer med läs- och skrivsvårigheter som blir drabbade, utan det är även personer med andra livssituationer som drabbas. Syftet med arbetet är att ta fram rekommendationer och finna lösningar som gör att universitet och högskolors webbplatser blir tillgängliga för alla. Analysen som görs i arbetet är baserad på W3C WAI:s riktlinjer om tillgänglighet och är avgränsad till användare med dyslexi.

In today?s society, it becomes more common with tablets, that makes us interact with computers in a whole new way. For example these are used to read and write e-mails, surf the web and playing games. Another manner of use of these tablets is to read and edit PDF documents. PDF handling is often meant to be used in books and inregular text documents, but it could also be used in the management of drawings.An industry that would benefit greatly from the use of tablets for this purpose is the con- struction industry.

I uppsatsen presenteras resultatet av en undersökning av platsannonser och de kompetenser som innehas av personerna som anställdes. Syftet var att jämföra hur väl kraven och kvalifikationerna stämde överens. Utgångspunkten var litteratur om arbetsmarknaden och rekrytering. Där framkom det att platsannonser ofta formuleras otydligt och att kraven som ställs ibland är överdrivna. Undersökningen bestod av ett urval platsannonser för yrken där en kombination av IT-kompetens och humanistisk kompetens behövs och där webbpublicering är en arbetsuppgift.

The purpose of this master´s thesis is to examine how the cultural exchange function of Swedish libraries may be perceived on their websites. A further intention is to examine how the library websites are used at the present. Two quantitative web-based surveys have been sent out to a great number of Swedish public libraries. The first survey was directed to the webmasters of the libraries, in order to review the different services offered by the Swedish library websites of today. The second survey was conducted with library directors, in order to visualise what services they consider ought to be present on their own library website.

Idag finns det en mängd olika mobiltelefoner tillgängliga på marknaden och många av dessa har olika sorters stöd för ljud. Detta kan leda till stora problem för bland annat spelutvecklare, eftersom det är till fördel om spelet som skall publiceras kan fungera på så många olika mobiltelefoner som möjligt. Målet med detta arbete är att skapa en ljud- och musikhanterare för Furiae med MMAPI, Mobile Media API. MMAPI är ett API, Application Programming Interface, där v1.0 introducerades den 24:e Juni, 2002. Idag finns v1.2 som kom ut den 22:a Maj, 2006.

Studien syfte var att beskriva fotbollstränares verbala beteende samt analysera vilka förutsättningar dessa beteenden skapar för utveckling av spelarnas exekutiva förmågor (EF) som, enligt Vestberg et al (2012) är en avgörande faktor att bli elitspelare. För att komma fram till resultatet av fotbollstränarnas verbala beteende användes kvantitativ observation med inspiration från observationsschemat Coach Analysis Intervention System (CAIS) (Cushion, Stephen, Bob & Lee, 2012). Därefter analyserades vilka förutsättningar resultatet skapar för utveckling av exekutiva funktioner hos spelarna genom kvalitativ bedömning utifrån Annerstedts (2001) teoretiska perspektiv och tidigare forskning (Jackson & Beilock, 2008; Pearson & Webb, 2006;Williams & Hodges, 2005). Resultatet visar att tränarna har högst frekvens på instruktioner, lägst frekvens på reflekterande feedback och få divergenta frågor. Analysen visar att förutsättningarna för spelarna att utveckla EF är störande. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur Internet fungerar som arena för alternativ offentlighet och för kommunikativa utövningar om mode- och skönhetsideal. Avsikten är att förstå hur Internet, och i synnerhet bloggen, fungerar som en plats där man kan tillämpa alternativa praktiker på.Undersökningen fokuserar på svenska modebloggar som skiljer sig från mängden, det vill säga de privata bloggar som innehållsmässigt sticker ut och är nischade. De alternativa modebloggar som väljs ut för studien jämförs med Sofi Fahrmans (Aftonbladet) och Ebba von Sydows (VeckoRevyn) bloggar. Anledningen till att valet kom att falla på just Fahrman och von Sydow är att båda är välkända moderedaktörer som ofta figurerar i svenska medier; i TV, tidningar och på Internet.Uppsatsen bygger på såväl beskrivande som komparativa innehållsanalyser av sex modebloggar och kompletteras med en öppen enkät som besvaras av ett antal strategiskt utvalda modebloggare. Syftet är att, genom att skapa en bakgrundsbild kring fenomenet modeblogg, få kunskaper om hur modebloggar upprättade av medieföretag samt privata och alternativa modebloggar skiljer sig åt.

This master thesis aims to examine the methods of the conservation field and their visionabout maintenance and change, in terms of liturgical values. This is to be able todetermine if there is a need to develop the methods that the field of conservation has tosafeguard the intangible cultural heritage of the churches.This is mainly a literature review, focusing on different tutorials from the Swedish nationalheritage board, and different texts on liturgy aswell as Unesco's Convention for theSafeguarding of intagible Heritage (2003), ratified in Sweden in January 2011. A casestudy of the practical work has been carried out on three churches that have undergonechange. The application process and the results were important for this study.The conclusion is that the conservation field have ambitions to preserve the liturgicalvalues, but they do not have sufficiently developed methods to do so. Nevertheless, itappears that most cases of change in churches, increases the liturgical values..

Mobile Arts have a technical platform for handling maps and community-featured Points of Interest in cellular phones, where the users themselves can share locations with other users either in groups or public. Development of the platform regarding network communication has been included in this paper. The work evaluates different feasible business models regarding packaging the platform as a commercial application and also faces issues users have when using the product. Even if users found maps and POI interesting and cool in cellulars, the technical difficulties and lack of product focus during beta testing, were present. Therefore, the writers recommendation is more development of the platform and using a business model where Mobile Arts deliver to existing communities.

Data retrieved from airborne laser scanning represents a new source of forest data. Today, the technology has matured so that it can function in an operational environment. The aim of this study was to compile areas of application of laserdata in forestry. Moreover to analyze costs and accessibility of laserdata. The goal was to provide private forest owners information to support assessments of possible benefits of laserdata.

The case method is a relatively new pedagogical method in Sweden that is based on students exercising their skills in the analysis of complex situations and problems that are based in reality and that help students to see a broader perspective and context.The purpose of this study has been to investigate, through interviews with students and teachers, the advantages and disadvantages of the case method in teaching geography.The results of the study show that both teachers and students share almost the same opinion. The conclusion is that the case method is a didactic method that is well suited for teaching geography, as it is based on reality and develops the students? ability to analyze, argue and find solutions in several areas within the subject of geography. If a student is strong in these skill areas they can really benefit from the application of the case method in the teaching of geography, but for students who are weaker in these skills, the case method can be a disadvantage.
