Detta examensarbete har utförts hos Volvo Personvagnar och handlar om ett emissionsrelaterat problem som visar sig genom att emissionerna av kväveoxid i bensindrivna bilar ökar vid längre testkörningar, utan att några yttre parametrar ändrats. Problemet har främst observerats vid intern emissionsprovning men kan leda till problem med certifiering av bilar på fältet då emissionerna kan överstiga tillåtna nivåer. Den forskning som utförts på Volvo visar att svavel i bensin kan ackumuleras i katalysatorn och nedsätta dess förmåga att omvandla kväveoxider till ofarliga ämnen. Målet med detta examensarbete har varit att finna vilka faktorer som styr ackumulering av svavel i katalysatorn samt finna vilka faktorer som styr regenerering av denna, och om möjligt även undersöka möjligheten att regenerera katalysatorn under normal körning. Ett delmål har varit att finna ett tillförlitligt sätt att förgifta katalysatorn.

?ÄTA-work? (Changes, Supplementary and Retiring works) is more or less common in all construction projects whether it is about houses, roads or railways, in the planning stage, or in the construction stage. For the Swedish Transport Administration, which is the largest purchaser of infrastructure in Sweden, ÄTA-work is a hotter topic than ever.Economists and managers want to draw conclusions on the projects share ÄTA-work, while the project manager is concerned about whether it is possible to draw any conclusions at all as each project is unique in itself and has its own merits. There is a big variation in the amount of ÄTA-work in different geographic districts in the Swedish Transport Administration.This study shows that the Swedish Transport Administration does not have a unanimous approach regarding the management of ?ÄTA-work?.

AbstraktMiljöfrågor är idag något som engagerar människor världen över. Både företag och privatpersoner har insett att vi måste ta hand om miljön för att uppnå en hållbar utveckling. Sedan början av 1990- talet har antalet miljöredovisningar ökat i stadig takt. Företag har idag i större utsträckning konkreta miljömål och bedriver sitt miljöarbete efter fastställda miljöpolicys. Anledningarna till att företagen utformar miljöredovisningar är många.

The company now wants to investigate the possibility of changing their present softstarters to frequency inverters to supply power to their pump engines. They also want to investigate the possibility of future use in so called ?intelligent? houses.The purpose of this report is to investigate these possibilities..

Construction projects are generally designed as a general contract or a complete contract. In a general contract the commercial contract that is being used is AB 04 and related advice and instructions, AMA AF 07. In AB 04 there is an insurance requirement that stipulates that the contractor shall take all risks and liability insurance for the contract where the client must be co-insured.Construction law is almost exclusively regulated by the various standard contracts, one of those is AB 04. The Construction Contracts Committe is an organization that has published the standard contracts in this area of law and also the advice and instructions to help the parties to understand the agreements. The insurance requirement occurs in an area of law that is complex and the meaning of the concept is not entirely clear, nor which of the parties? interests and responsibilities that are covered by the types of insurances that are provided by the insurance requirement.

Today there is a widespread opinion that the woodmarket and the forest industry are dominated by a traditional way of thinking and not adapted to the customers of today; a lot of products are produced purely on routine. Also, there is a demand for improving the quality of sawn woodproducts. AB Karl Hedin wants to sort this out by increasingly adapt their products to the demands of the market, i.e. through introducing a short wallstud of standard length, "Hedinregeln". At tirst, the wallstud will be produced in lengths of 2,70 m and of guaranteed quality.

Detta examensarbete är utfört vid Volvo Cars Torslanda i Göteborg. I Torslandafabriken produceras fyra olika bilmodeller, S80, V70, XC70 och XC90, vid ett och samma monteringsflöde. Då monteringsarbetet sker vid en driven line upplever de anställda att produktionstakten är hög. Dessutom innebär de olika modellerna ett stort antal arbetsmoment. Problemet för Volvo är att nå uppsatta kvalitetsmål då det höga arbetstempot och det stora antalet arbetsmoment begränsar montörernas möjlighet till att snabbt komma upp i nödvändigt arbetstempo.

This final thesis is carried out at BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik. The mission was to construct and integrate a new semi-active damping unit in the terrain vehicle BvS10. Questions that came up during the process, among others, was how to mount the damping unit to the vehicle in a flexible way without exposing it to unnecessary wears.A generation of the concept is made in 3D using CATIA V5 of a possible solution to the problem. The idea is to weld the unit to the skid girder which is one of the main constructions of the track system. In this way the damping unit will come closer to the track system, which will partly protect it from impacts from below and minimize current problems with breaking forces in the torsion shafts.The complete construction was then analyzed, first by theoretical calculations and then with the FEM-tools in CATIA V5.

This thesis analyses how a radiology department at the largest hospital in Sweden, Karolinska University Hospital, most profitably could expand its capacity for investigating cancer patients using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The queues today for patients waiting to be scanned are long, which delays the start of cancer treatments. Meanwhile the hospital has a budget deficit of half a billion SEK, which make any expansion hard. In this thesis we evaluate the alternatives of investing in new machinery; utilize the current machinery better by using them more days annually or through a shift work system. Finally we evaluate a combination of these.

In conjunction with today?s increasing competition within the construction sector, more pressure is being placed on building contractors. Efficiency and improvements are necessary but without impairment to an ergonomic and safe construction site. This in is in order to reduce the construction costs and time but to retain the ability to deliver a high-quality contract.Various methods and prefabrication degrees are used, depending on the project's requirements and conditions. This analysis sets out to investigate and exhibit what qualifications are important when choosing a construction method for curtain walls.Advantages and disadvantages with each method have been analyzed and recommendations have been given to show when different methods are best suited.

Husums plant has a selection of different pulp pumps at bleaching plant 4 and 5. The displacement- (HC-pump, Sund Defibrator PTD-60) and centrifugalpumps (MC-pump, MCA 42-200, MCP 30/20) are of interest in this report. The centrifugal pumps are controlled by throttle valves, which result in an energy loss. Chemical mixers are used to mix ClO2 into the pulp before proceeding into a holding tower where the bleaching process occurs.The energy demand of the different positions has been measured or calculated to be used in comparisons against new equipment. Quotations were requested and delivered from Valmet and Sulzer.

Företaget kan använda dem som styrmedel för att verkligen minska sin miljöpåverkan. Motivet kan också vara att bli accepterat av omgivningen genom att upplysa att de, precis som många andra, också bryr sig om miljön.

Husqvarna is a world leading producer of chainsaws with a well-established brand name. Husqvarna now has an interest in investigating the possibiltiy to expand their production of chains and guide bars to include cutting equipment for timber-harvesters.This project is a technical study which aims to answer questions about cutting equipment for timber-harvesters that have been decided in cooperation with Husqvarna. The questions have mainly been focused on forces, cutting speeds, service and maintenance -as well as general questions regarding the size of the Swedish market.Two methods have been applied to answer the questions. Interviews with retailers of harvesters, producers of harvester heads and harvester drivers.The main findings in this project show that there is a relatively small selection of harvester chains on the Swedish market. In contrast to the selection of harvester chains the selection of guide bars is quite large.

NCC Construction Sverige AB är ett byggföretag inom NCC AB. Företaget är verksamt inom hus- och anläggningsbyggande, bostadsbyggande, bostadsutveck- ling samt service i Sverige. År 2004 hade man en omsättning på cirka 17,3 MDR SEK och antalet anställda var cirka 7 600. I varje byggprojekt finns alltid olika risker, vissa får större konsekvenser än andra. Ansvars- och entreprenadskador som inträffar i projekten kostar mycket pengar för NCC Construction Sverige AB.

Volvo Human Monitoring (VHM) is an ongoing project at Volvo Cars where they measure, amongst other parameters, inhalation and exhalation through a device called Respiratory Inductance Plethysmograph (RIP), on drivers. RIP measures changes in the cross-sectional area of the chest and abdomen. When the driver is in motion, such as when she is turning the vehicle, the cross-sectional area changes and noise in the RIP signal may arise.The noise results in a large number of manual adjustments in the analysis of the RIP signal, which is very time consuming and the validity of the device for measuring inhalation and exhalation is questioned.The purpose of this study was to improve the efficiency of the analysis of the RIP signal. The goal was to create a new data processing tool in Matlab that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation from a RIP signal with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.In this study, nine tests were performed on drivers while they were driving in different scenarios such as highway, country road and in city traffic. Inhalation and exhalation was measured using a RIP, a pneumotachograph with a tightly sealed facemask and a thermocouple placed between the nose and mouth, which was used as reference to the RIP.The result of this study was a data processing tool that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.
