This Masters thesis concerns difficulties experienced by Gender Studies researchers in an information seeking context. The aim is to identify, and study the cause of, these potential difficulties by asking the following questions: How do researchers in Gender Studies seek information? What difficulties may arise when information seeking is carried out in Gender Studies? What may be the cause of these difficulties? What does Gender Studies consist of? In order to find feasible answers to these questions, particular attention is paid to the context in which the researchers exist and work. The database KVINNSAM serves as an example of how libraries have tried to overcome barriers in information seeking in Gender Studies. The method used is a qualitative one based on interviews and literature studies.

Problem discussion: How should information be handled to facilitate and benefit from modularity? How should Clarkson Inc. adapt their information handling to modularity and what benefits can be reaped by doing this? Purpose: The purpose of this master thesis is to help Clarkson Inc. adapt their information handling to modularity and to extract theories, methods and tools to guide companies in similar situations.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate international students? views regarding information seeking and use of information sources. A further aim is also to investigate the possible factors influencing information seeking in relation to everyday life for international students. Interviews were carried out with eight international students, 20-35 years old from three continents. They were to stay in Sweden for at least five months for the purpose of studying.

Information mellan myndigheter och unga människor (i det här fallet människor under 25 år) kan ibland vara otydlig och missförstånd kan uppstå, då man har olika sätt att uttrycka sig på. För att missförstånd ska undvikas är det av stor vikt att den externa kommunikationen fungerar mellan dessa. För att den externa kommunikationen ska fungera krävs det att budskapet som ska ut är internt förankrat, om organisationen själv visar att det tror på det, då gör förhoppningsvis också målgruppen det. Effektivast blir kommunikationen när flera informationskanaler kombineras och i dagens samhälle är elektroniska kanaler som till exempel Internet ofta en självklar källa att använda sig av.Undersökningen i den här uppsatsen handlar om att ta reda på hur körkortsaspiranterna tar del av information om körkorts-tagning och sammanhållet förarprov B. I undersökningen som är halvårsutvärderingen av Vägverkets informationsinsatser kring sammanhållet förarprov, tar jag även reda på vad som kan förbättras.

Syftet med det här arbetet har varit att välja ut och integrera en lämplig fysikmotor med öppen källkod i simuleringsprogramvaran EWSim på Totalförsvarets Forskningsinstitut (FOI). EWSim är ett ramverk för duellsimulering i olika telekrigsscenarier. Teorin bakom fysikmotorer och några vanliga tekniker för fysiksimulering har beskrivits kortfattat. Tre fysikmotorer har presenterats och utvärderats med avseende på lämplighet för integrering i EWSim.Fysikmotorn Bullet valdes ut och integrerades i simuleringsprogramvaran. En av de huvudsakliga slutsatserna av arbetet är att fysikmotorer som Bullet mest kan bidra med ökad visuell realism i EWSim.

It is based around a questionnaire aimed towards store managers and consequently used it to run regression analysis using the software package SPSS.Main results: The main result of the essay is that the motivation among store managers is positively related to the degree to which they absorb information. Thus, a possible problem exists for the corporation in that they need to make sure that the store managers are and stays motivated. Further, it seems that the longer a store manager has been employed by the corporation the less information is absorbed. Syftet med denna uppsats är att genom textanalys av fem läroböcker i skolämnet svenska visa vilka lärstilar, ur ett perceptuellt perspektiv, som främst gynnas i böckernas övningar. Vår undersökning är därmed utförd med tre kategorier av lärstilar: auditiv, kinestetisk och visuell. Den är främst av kvantitativ karaktär men har även kvalitativa inslag.     Resultatet visar att lärstilarna inte varieras särskilt mycket i de analyserade läromedlen, dessutom finns det en avgörande mängd övningar anpassade för den visuella lärstilen i majoriteten av böckerna. De slutsatser vi kunnat dra är att det är den visuella lärstilen som framförallt gynnas, varpå de övriga två hamnar i skymundan. Det kan också konstateras att fyra av de fem analyserade läroböckerna har ett relativt liknande innehåll och upplägg..

The theses discuss information seeking with a focus on Google and social networks. Students attending the librarian program in Lund have been examined by means of two methods; diaries and information horizons, where they had to solve a specific assignment. The information horizon as a method contributes to getting a structural perspective on the information search process instead of viewing information search as a procedure. Information horizons use social network analysis.The aim of the theses is to investigate the importance of the social network in information search, with a particular focus on Google as a search tool. Our hypothesis is that Google acts as a compensator to the social network when the students search for information and in the educational program.The research indicates that there is no direct correlation between usage of the social network and usage of Google.

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine upper secondary school teachers? views of their students? information seeking practices and their perspectives on consider the concept of information literary. The theoretical framework consists of a sociocultural perspective and the empirical material has been collected through interviews with six upper secondary school teachers. The material is analyzed phenomenographically and revealed three practices. Social science teachers consider the library and librarian to be valuable resources for students? information seeking, particularly in view of information overload in society today.

The primary aim of this thesis is to examine female lawyers' relationships to information from different angles. The starting-point is that the legal information, retrieved from through different information sources, is not free from values and subjectivity. The commonly presumed objectivity of legal information is questioned, based on the fact that this kind of information has developed and changed historically in the context of, and in relation to, society. Another aim is to find out how the female lawyers experience their situation in a traditionally masculine working environment. Qualitative interviews have been carried out with seven female lawyers involving questions about their daily work about the sources that they are using.

Med denna uppsats vill jag komma till någon slutsats om vad meningsfull bildundervisning är. Jag menar att detta bör diskuteras i förhållande till skolans demokratiuppdrag. Genom skrivprocessen har jag gjort vägningar mellan olika perspektiv, men velat lägga eftertrycket på elevperspektivet.Via en litteraturstudie undersöker jag tre olika forskningsperspektiv på bildkommunikation. Bildsemiotiken, som studerar bilden som tecken, fokuserar därmed på bilden i sig. Inom visuell kultur ägnar man sig åt hur det visuella formar vår förståelse av oss själva och världen.

Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancer diseases among women worldwide. Breast cancer brings fear into many womens? life. It is a threat against life, but also to the psychological health, self-esteem and the female identity. Aim: The aim of this literature review was to describe newly breast cancer patient?s perception of information provided by healthcare personnel.

A dilemma often met by entrepreneurs is whether or not to share information about their business ideas in order to increase the probability for success. The reason for sharing information is presumed to be an increased ability to develop the business idea, whereas the reason for maintaining secrecy would be to protect the idea from being stolen. Common as this dilemma is in practice, it is not very well covered in the entrepreneurial theories. The purpose of this thesis is to elaborate the theories in this subject by investigating an entrepreneurial case. The case shows that one possible solution to the dilemma is a situation-based information sharing.

Sveriges befolkning blir allt äldre och år 2050 beräknas en fjärdedel av befolkningen vara över 65 år. Detta medför ett ökat behov av tillgänglighetsanpassade bostäder som till exempel mellanboende. Samtidigt håller sig Sveriges befolkning friskare och på grund av detta minskar vårdbehovet och efterfrågan av särskilda boenden. Trygghetsboende är en typ av mellanboende. Det är till för människor över 70 år som känner sig i behov av ett tillgängligt utformat boende och kanske känner sig ensamma men som av kommunen inte anses i behov av ett särskilt boende.
