Excess och kontroll : an Analysis of Annika Larsson?s Videos Pink Ball and Poliisi

The aim of the thesis is to identify and investigate central themes in two video artworks, Poliisi and Pink Ball, by Swedish artist Annika Larsson. Moreover it is an investigation of the configurations of violence, and an enquiring whether these works have a social-minded intention.Elements in scenery, framing and narration are analysed with the term ?crystalline regime? (régim cristallin), described by French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, which defines the artificial as opposed to the purely representational. Processes within the narrations of the two works are analysed as rituals, which leads to an investigation of an internal sign-system and to the question whether the rituals in these works have a function. Theory by French philosopher Georges Bataille is used to analyse the ritual with no external purpose, which aims at an intense experience of life.

In this activity you sometimes want to record the traffic transmitted on the data busses that connects different sys-tems. This traffic on the data busses is using the military standard MIL-STD-1553. This project has aimed to create a system for recording and sending 1553-data. The system is used on an ordinary personal computer, equipped with a recon- figurable I/O card that among others has a programmable logic circuit (FPGA).

Root rot causes large economical losses for Swedish forestry. The spread of root rot can partly be prevented by treating the spruce stumps in thinnings. Late pre-commercial thinning (PCT) is one of the forestry measures where stump treatment is not used. Late PCT can be defined as: The act of cleaning the stand with the aim of improving accessibility and sight within the stand, and so to increase the mean stem´s volume during the first conventional thinning. The aim of this study was to examine how late PCT is performed, its spatial extent and if it aids the spreading of root rot. The study was limited to encompass late PCT before first conventional thinnings in spruce stands in southern Sweden. Samples of spruce stumps were taken from four stands where late PTC had been carried out.

The use of computer and video games has increased immensely over the past few decades and today a majority of the Swedish population enjoys them on a daily basis. With such a large number of frequent users, the media reporting on the subject of games becomes interesting and important. How are games represented in the media, and has there been any change in the way they are portrayed as their popularity has grown? ­The aim of this study is to determine if and how the portrayal of computer and video games in Swedish newspapers has changed during the period 1995?2012. The study was conducted with the use of quantitative content analysis and the empirical data was collected from the two most widespread newspapers in Sweden ? DN and Aftonbladet.

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the process of selecting films at Bibliotekstjänst and at Swedish public libraries. The tools that have been used for analysing and interpreting the results from the interviews and the questionnaire are theory-based models describing the selection process concerning film and Carl Gustav Johannsen?s quality definitions. The result of the investigation shows that Bibliotekstjänst doesn?t really work with any quality definitions in their selection process.

The aim of this paper is to examine, by means of a quantitative method, whether using a Swedish athlete endorser in a sports advertisement will increase its effectiveness. We examine which characteristics an athlete endorser needs to be able to make people form a positive attitude towards the athlete endorser and thereby make him or her successful in advertising. We also look into whether an interest in sports can affect the advertisement effectiveness when using a Swedish athlete endorser. The results show that a well-liked Swedish athlete endorser generates highest ad effectiveness and that the most important characteristics that contribute to form a positive attitude towards an athlete endorser are trustworthy, physical attractiveness, success in sports and ?successful in respondent?s mind?.

En förstudie till kvalitetsutveckling på GD-tryck

The print- and mailroom at Gefle Dagblad (GD-tyck) is handling an increasing amount of commercial jobsalong with the newspaper production. Investments have above all been done in the mailroom to be able tooffer commercial costumers a higher degree of finishing and there are plans to expand further in the commercialmarket. GD-tryck is of the opinion that they need to secure the quality of their production to be ableto do such expansion, which is the reason why a quality system of some kind may be appropriate. Howeverthere are no plans to certify such a quality system according to ISO 9001:2000.In this exam report the present methods of working have been analysed from a quality perspective.Suggestions on how GD-tryck should be working with quality development is presented in the fields whereshortage of quality has been discovered. The suggestions taken together do not form a quality system butcan be looked at as ideas of approach to quality fields that have to be developed if a working quality systemshall be accomplished.Many of the quality fields that have been discussed do not have anything to do with technical qualitydirectly but are in some degree requirements for a working quality system.

Utbildningsmedier i undervisningen : En studie av medieanvändning och lärande

I denna uppsats har jag undersökt vilka utbildningsmedier som används på några skolori utvalda kommuner i Dalarnas län: Älvdalen, Orsa, Mora och Falun, samt vilkenpåverkan dessa medier kan ha på elevernas inlärning. Uppsatsens övergripande syfte äratt bidra med kunskap om hur utbildningsmedier kan användas i undervisningen igrundskolan samt hur elevers lärande kan påverkas av medier med audiovisuellinformation. Denna uppsats har följande forskningsfrågor: Hur vanligt är det att olikautbildningsmedier används i undervisningen och vilka typer av medier är vanligast?Vilken effekt kan utbildningsmedier ha på elevernas inlärningsförmåga? Och hur kanmediepedagogik vara ett redskap i undervisningen? Uppsatsens frågeställningarbesvaras genom kvantitativa metoder i form av en enkät och ett experiment.Enkätundersökningen visa att medier ofta används som komplettering till undervisningpå dessa utvalda skolor och de medier som används mest är video/film, bild/foto ochinternet. Experimentets resultat tyder på att det finns elever som troligtvis lär sig bättregenom att använda medier.

Today the feed for gestated sows is often composed by high energy and low dietary fiber grain products such as wheat. The phenomenon of media confusion has however earned much less attention. As a greater part of the total marketing budget is being spent on the media investments, on behalf of the actual advertising production, the more interesting it turns out to maximize the effects of the media expenses. The search for optimization is somewhat practised today by brand managers who are daringly adding a few more media channels to support their TV-campaigns. Buying ad space in TV is nevertheless much more expensive than the radio equivalent.

This is a study of the work of a Danish music teacher at a free school (grade 1 9) in Copenhagen. The teaching is based explicitly on playing in ensemble and the pupils play at a high artistic level compared to a normal school. Data collection was made during three days with the help of observation, video recording and qualitative interviews. The report contains video clips where the pupils and the teacher play together. The great differences between this model of teaching and the normal, lie in the teacher participation in the music making, the central role of the rhythms, the early start (grade two), the form of songs and arrangements and the lack of notation in favor of music making by ear.

Tillgång eller ägande : En studie i konsumentvärde på marknaden för digital underhållningsmedia

Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att genom kvalitativa intervjuer lyfta fram motpolerna kringdagens konsumtion av digital underhållningsmedia och fastställa om konsumenters syn på värdekan relateras till deras val av att antingen betala för ägandet eller för tillgänglighet av den. Metoden har bestått av åtta stycken kvalitativa intervjuer där respondenter fått frågor om sinkonsumtion av digitala underhållningsmedia inom; musik, video, spel och podcasts. Uppsatsen kommer fram till att konsumenter ser värdet i användningen av mediet och inte iägandet av det. Konsumenterna vill således hellre strömma sin media än att ladda ner den. Deväljer därför mer eller mindre obehindrat den tjänst som har bäst utbud.
