A common way to stabilize high rise buildings is to use an elevator core built of concrete. Today, we use to build these elevator cores of in-situ concrete. Precast concrete twin wall (double wall) is a semi-finished product that has become more common in recent years. This diploma work studies how the twin wall works out as structural elements in an elevator core. The work also shows some possible ways of designing twin walls and highlights some important parts of the design that will be vital to the stability of the building.    The result shows that it is important to think through where the element joints should be placed.

The controversial phenomenon of ?seeker-oriented? megachurches are currently transforming the American religious landscape. These churches, some housing up to 30,000 worshippers every week, are targeting religious seekers as their primary objective. Their success in attracting and converting those who usually wouldn?t even think of attending church can in large parts be explained by changes in liturgy, the removal of visible theological discussion and use of shopping mall styled buildings, designed to make the religious seeker feel like home.

Bakgrund: Många av patienterna på en neurointensivvårdsavdelning (NIVA) vårdas med respirator under en längre eller kortare period av vårdtiden. Neurointensivvårdspatienterna bedöms ibland utifrån de kriterier för urträning och extubering som används på allmänna intensivvårdspatienter. Detta kan leda till för tidig extubation med reintubation som följd. Syfte: Redogöra för vilka kriterier som ska bedömas hos neurointensivvårdspatienter inför en extubering. Metod: Litteraturstudie.

In the west part of Trelleborg, on previous farmland a new society is under construction. It is situated right next to the ocean and close to the European freeway. Eight types of villages, all with different kind of architecture will be built in the area, one of them is Torns Village built by Skanska and Ikea. A concept called BoKlok. This specific village consists of twelve houses and five apartment buildings. They are all somewhat classical in their appearance with wooden panel, but at the same time they have a modern touch.

The background to this study is to find alternative ways of size rationalization. My vision is to take the basic conditions and make the best and most profitable of them. I have chosen press of rape oil because it?s interesting and the investment to get started is relative small. Despite this, studiesfrom SP shows that few buildings meet the client?s requirements inspecific energy, which increases the risk of occurrence ofcondensation-related moisture damage.This study aims to evaluate curtain walls connections from airsecurity and moisture safety.

Teknikprogrammet på Ållebergsgymnasiet i Falköping blir mer och mer populärt samtidigt som det kommer att saknas utbildade ingenjörer. Därför väljer Ållebergsgymnasiet att satsa på en ny kurs i byggteknik och samtidigt ta in fler elever till Teknikprogrammet.Arbetet med denna rapport har främst handlat om att samla in information för att utforma ett kurskompendium för en gymnasiekurs i byggnadsteknik till Teknikprogrammet på Ållebergsgymnasiet i Falköping. Teknikprogrammet har tidigare planerat att starta upp en sådan kurs och tidigare elever har varit intresserade av densamma.Kompendiet är inriktat mot småhus med trästomme och kursen ska vara allmänbildande och skapa intresse för byggbranschen i allmänhet och småhus i synnerhet. Det inledande kapitlet av kompendiet handlar om byggfysik med bland annat fukt, energi, ljud och ventilation. Sedan följer ett kapitel om byggteknik med förklaringar till hur en byggnad kan vara uppbyggd från grund till tak, vilka uppvärmningssystem som finns med mera.

In the spring of 2014 Sweco Systems AB were commissioned to design a ventilation system for a newly built preschool in Linköping. Terms from the client was that it cost efficiency would cope with the energy demands that are placed on the building. The unit chosen was a cross-flow heat exchanger, and this work is to compare it with two other heat exchangers to see if a more energy and cost efficient could have been chosen. The heat exchangers that was chosen for the comparison was a rotating- and a counterflow heat exchanger. Simulations have been made to the different heat exchangers by the manufacturers.

The building industry are currently going through a huge alteration. The introduction of BIM (Building Information Modeling). Which also implements a lot of new ways of solving problems that building modeling can cause. This report is written for Uppsala University in cooperation with Temagruppen in Uppsala. However, it contains a comparison between two different systems that checks building models.

The industrialized timber housing process is capable nowadays to build multi-storeyhouses since fairly new changes in the Swedish regulations where made after theadmission of the European Union in 1994.The industrialized process moves parts of the construction process into a highlyeffective factory where 3D-volumes of the building are prefabricated beforetransportation to the building site for assemble.The assembly process is relatively effective compared to the completion of thebuilding service system and this is therefore the main focus in this thesis. This thesis is a case study that analyses the seaside resort Ystad Sandskog and its private architecture between 1850 and 1940. The multitude is evident in the area's architecture. The architectural development is analysed with the use of a social historical perspective, including class and hegemony. Regional as well as national affective factors are used in the analysis. Aside from the social aspects, architectural ideological developments, general development of the seaside resort and the area's committee with its prescriptions are all factors considered.By dividing the development in four different chronological phases, which all represents a certain architectural expression exemplified by a selection of buildings and the social class that it accompanies, a culmination in the architectural structural development of Sandskogen is shown.

Examensarbetets uppgift är att arbeta fram ett exempel på incitament för att motivera hyresgäster att vara med och investera i energieffektiviseringar. Arbetet innefattar en energikartläggning av en fastighet för att kunna visa vilka besparingar som kan göras och vilka investeringskostnader det innebär. Den aktuella fastigheten har alla energikostnader inbakad i hyran vilket leder till att hyresgästerna inte har incitament till medinvestering. Energikartläggningen innebar en nattvandring för att se vad som använde energi under natten när verksamheterna stod still, insamlande av timdatafrån Umeå Energi, inventering av belysning samt anskaffande av information om ventilation och kompressor. Kontakt med olika företag togs för att kunna få fram ungefärliga kostnader för effektiviseringarna.

This degree project aims to investigate the potential and possibilities for conceptual energyanalyses in the early stages of the design process. Many key decisions are made in theearly stages of a project regarding the shape and orientation of the building. Conceptualenergy analyses can provide the architects with insight regarding different design option?srelative energy performance.As the demands for more sustainable buildings increases, so does the need for earlyenergy analyses. Performing analyses in the early stage requires many assumptions andguesswork which could lead to a large margin of error.The offering from Autodesk is a module in Revit Architecture/MEP and the stand aloneprogram Project Vasari (under development).

he purpose of this master thesis is to learn more about the ancient Alexandrian Library. The method used in this thesis is methodology of history, especially a critical attitude when it comes to evaluating the ancient texts. I put forward three questions to which I desire to find answers. First: What do the sources from Antiquity tell about the Alexandrian library? Second: How do modern writers of books on the subject use these sources? Thirdly: I look into the possible historical and cultural reasons that the first of the Ptolemaic kings could have had for establishing the Mouseion and the Library of Alexandria.

This thesis focuses on the construction of drystone walls in the county of Sm?land, as well as their historical value and significance to the county. In Riksantikvarie?mbetets Plattform Kulturhistorisk v?rdering och urval, a directory for historical evaluations of buildings and objects, the first clause is to describe the object and its history. When trying to do this, the lack of literature focusing on the constructional elements of drystone walls and their history became an issue and is what prompted the writing of this thesis. With a study of different handbooks, a compilation of the constructional elements of the walls were put together.
