Vallentuna municipality in Stockholm County, is planning to develop a management plan for a forest area owned by the municipality. The property is an urban forest and the hiking trail Roslagsleden runs through it. Hence the municipality intends to take extra care of the outdoor recreation interests, as well as forest biodiversity, but at the same time use the area for forestry. This study discusses how these three interests, recreation, biodiversity and forestry, differ in their views of how a forest should be managed, where they disagree and how they can coexist in the management of this area. In this study, a vegetation mapping of the area and an assessment of the forest?s conservation values was carried out.

We are surrounded by sounds. There is always something that makes a sound: a breeze through the leaves, traffic on a distance or your own blood rushing through your veins. Human will always be surrounded by sounds which makes it an important part of our lives. Therefore the sound should have a big influence on how we perceive our surroundings and interpret our world. This essay inquires into what sounds can mean to an open space and urban spaces.

The title: ?Klara färdiga GÅ? can be translated as ?Ready steady GO?, and is ment as a request to start move. In this project I want to invite people to walk more by creating creative, demanding and playful walkways and paths, where the body can be allowed to work just a tiny bit harder.It?s because walking means exercise and fresh air, for free and without spetial equipment. Walking can also be fun, it allows people to stop, change direction and experience things.I think activity should be fun, inspired by children playground my project is a contribution to how adults might stay healthier in a city, where too often healthy activity is solely confined to the gym or sports fields.

We travel more nowadays. The increasing travel rate generates greenhouse gases which in the long run cause an increasing number of natural disasters over the world. Car traffic is a major contributor to this development. Out-of-town shopping centres have historically good accessibility for car traffic. This study aims to look into what are the factors that influence the choice of transport mode for dwellers in the outskirts of a town when going to out-of-town shopping centres.

This study aims at using discourse analysis to analyze SFI students attitudes to religion and religiosity in an SFI-context. The questions are: How is the discourse constructed and maintained by religion and religiosity of SFI students in an SFI context? How do SFI participants experience that their religion has affected their time at SFI?Using a case study approach, interviews were conducted with a group of SFI students. The results show that the religious discourse in SFI is influenced by the SFI-context and affected based on the current education discourse that exists there. Furthermore, the discourse is designed and maintained by the participants private religious beliefs and the religion of the majority of the group, One canhere speak of a strong social unit forming a plausibility structure The power structure that emerges is that the majority has the power to define the significance of religion and place within the SFI context. In the SFI-context the participants view is that religion is something private that should not be expressed in the school environment.

My work deals with large scale design of the urban fringe. The thesis is divided in three parts; ?Current viewpoints?, ?Infra City ? conditions ? and ?Infra City ? project?. In the first part, I go through the history of trade shortly. Then I discuss the concept of nature, which ends up in a linkage between natural science and aesthetics in landscape architecture. The link between those two makes a project stronger and more multifunctional. The object of my case, Infra City, is a mall situated north of Stockholm on both sides of the E4 motorway going to Arlanda airport.

Skogen är inte bara en viktig ekonomisk resurs för Sverige och en livsmiljö för många växt- och djurarter. Den bidrar också till stora upplevelsemässiga och rekreativa värden, det vill säga sociala värden. Skogen ska tillgodose många behov och konflikter kan uppstå mellan olika intressenter. Fokus i detta examensarbete var ett skogsområde i byn Dalasjös närhet i Vilhelmina kommun i norra Sverige där en intressekonflikt uppstått mellan skogsägarens planer på att föryngringsavverka och den lokala befolkningens önskan om att behålla området intakt för rekreation och sociala aktiviteter. Huvudsyftet med studien var att genomföra en kartläggning och beskrivning av skogens sociala värden i Dalasjö och den aktuella intressekonflikten.

De flesta svenska skogar, även i reservat, har under lång tid påverkats mer eller mindre av människan. De fjällnära barrskogarna i norra Norrland har i vissa fall utnyttjats till husbehov av samer under lång tid och av nybyggare från 1800-talet och framåt, men spår finns även efter senare industriellt bruk. I slutet av 1800-talet förändrades skogbruket till ett industriellt brukande vilket också förändrade de norrländska skogarnas struktur och landskapsmönster i stor utsträckning. Dimensionsavverkningen förändrade både natur och kulturvärden genom att de större träden, oftast tall av hög kvalité men även döda träd, avverkades. Området som låg till grund för denna studie ligger i norra Norrbotten och har tidigare varit en kronoöverloppsmark ägd av Domänverket.

Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva det första skedet av introduktionen av ekologisk landskapsplanering (ELP) i svenskt skogsbruk. Detta har gjorts genom att försöka besvara ett antal frågeställningar: ? Vad är ekologisk landskapsplanering? ? Hur har framväxten av ekologisk landskapsplanering skett? ? Varifrån kom ideerna? ? Vilka var orsakerna till att man började med ekologisk landskapsplanering? ? Vilken roll har ekologisk landskapsplanering haft för förändringen mot ett mer miljöanpassatsvenskt skogsbruk? Dessa frågor har diskuterats vid intervjuer gjorda med forskare, företrädare för storskogsbruket och representanter från övriga skogssektorn. ELP anses vara ett värdefullt redskap i arbetet med att kombinera produktions- och miljömålet i den nu gällande skogspolitiken och har kommit i gång inom flera skogsbolag under de senaste åren. Dess huvudsakliga inslag är att ta fram beslutsunderlag som beskriver hur skogslandskapet ska skötas och utvecklas efter vissa uppställda mål.

Grönstrukturen är en av de övergripande strukturerna i vårt samhälle tillsammans med bebyggelsestruktur och infrastruktur. Alla olika funktioner som grönstrukturen har kan i sin tur delas in i tre övergripande grupper med: sociala, ekologiska och kulturella funktionsvärden. Det är ofta så att de sociala och kulturella värdena inte får lika stor tyngd vid beslutsfattande. Då är de främst de ekologiska funktionerna som går före eftersom den befintliga naturen har t.ex. skyddsvärda arter. Det finns olika sätt att planera ett områdes grönstruktur som saknar befintlig grönska: Patrik Grahns åtta parkkaraktärer tillsammans med typaktiviteterna med sina tydliga inriktningar och konkreta innehåll kan ligga till grund för och inspirera till nya parker och grönområden.

The goal was also to make a flexible space for public spaces that could be used in different ways. Today many libraries want to be more than a library, they will work as a meeting place and you can find several activities to join in.

?Development of methods for the planning and implementation of ditch clearing with modern methods?, is a long title for an exam work but that is what this report describes. In Sweden, we have a limited area available, and with the present development with increasing market oil prices, and enormous forces on the renewable energy sources, we need every hectare possible to protect the output of the forests. So with this in mind, many people are now considering how to increase the production of the forests that are already available. A part of production increases is to manage the existing forests, and not to allow this area to go to cultivation or become marshland. We manage our forests in a way that benefits the environment, and we consider that our working practice over the years has shown us to be correct and well functioning. A part of our way of producing forests is to ensure that we have functioning drainage systems in the forest holdings which we administer. The responsible at Holmen Skog requested a good method to make inventories of the drainage systems of Holmen forests. This Degree Project is about ways to identify and implement drainage systems with modern methods. It deals with authorities regulations, and how they operate in different counties.

Uppsatsen är skriven som en del i de studier i krigsvetenskap jag erhållit på Yrkesofficersprogrammets sista termin.Syftet med uppsatsen är att bidra till utvecklingen av de soldatutbildningshänvisningar som nyttjas vid Artilleriregementet. Frågeställningarna lyder: -          Tränas soldaterna vid Artilleriregementet, enligt utbildningsdokumenten som nyttjas, för att klara av de krav som ?Three block war? ställer? -          Kompletteras eventuella brister vid utbildningen på Artilleriregementet, genom utbildningen som sker inför internationell tjänst? Metoden som använts är deskription med tekniken litteraturstudier. Begreppet "Three block war" beskrivs därefter analyseras utbildningsdokumenten för att besvara frågeställningarna.  Analysen visar att soldater som gjort värnplikten på Artilleriregementet och därefter genomgått den gemensamma utbildningen som ges utlandsstyrkan fortfarande har ett behov av utbildning. Detta kopplat till om soldaterna skall klara av att verka i ett område som karaktäriseras av "Three block war"..

The objective of this work was to compare the environmentally gentle soil scarification technique Huminmix (with possibilities to do track-grinding/HMMspår, long-scraping/HMMlångfläck and mounding/HMMhög) with conventional disc trencher, concerning seedling establishment and growth of direct seeded and planted Scots pine seedlings. Inventories were made during June and July 2005, in 34 seeded and 6 planted stands from 2000 ? 2004 (1- 5 years old) of lichen- and myrtillus/vaccinum-type in Holmen Skog AB´s district Norsjö in Västerbotten. The Huminmix-technique had been used for HMMspår in the seeded stands and for HMMhög in the planted stands (HMMlångfläck has been used from the year 2006 for direct seeding). The studied stands had been seeded with the same amount of seeds according to stand data.

Politiska och ekonomiska svängningar samt geografiska förutsättningar präglar stadens fysiska planering samt dess uttryck och form. För Lund och Köpenhamns räkning har planeringsprocessen under drygt femtio år tillbaka skett utifrån ett antal plandokument, upprättade för att kontrollera stadens utveckling. Studier av dessa dokument visar hur städerna fysiskt brett ut sig i landskapet samt argumenteringen kring denna tillväxt. Under 50- och 60-talen bredde städerna ut sig för att kunna erbjuda fler och bättre bostäder under devisen ?välfärd åt alla?.
