Individual trees can act as carriers of meaning. When a person attributes deep meanings to a specific tree, a relationship between the person and the tree is created. To avoid conflicts between users and planners, increased awareness is required of how important individual trees may be to a person. The objective of this study was to elucidate persons? relationships with individual urban trees.

This thesis analyzes the effects of different fertilization strategies on forest management at Holmen Skog in Umeå district. Harvesting volumes, net present values and fertilization intensity are presented for each fertilization scenario. The planning reserve (percentage area older than minimum final felling age) was also analyzed in this study.The thesis covers the analysis of five different fertilization scenarios, varying in fertilization intensity, from no fertilization at all, to fertilization at every harvesting operation (thinning or final felling). A sub-study was also carried out so the reader in detail can see how the different fertilization scenarios affect individual forest stands of different nature. The analysis has been done with the planning tool PlanWise, which is an application of the Heureka analysis and planning system.

This thesis is studying Stråk* in an urban contexts. Thiswill be achieved through a study of Rosengårdsstråket inMalmö based on the question "What is a Stråk?".Malmö has experienced a major change in the last 15years. From being an industrial city with economic problems,Malmö is now part of the dynamic Öresund Region,and a knowledge city with great optimism. New parts ofthe city is about to grow up that reinforces the image ofMalmö's new identity.The next step in Malmö's development is to make thecity even denser and interconnect the inner city and thesuburbs to create a more sustainable city.

In this thesis, the flows of reactive nitrogen (Nr) in Scania were investigated and quantified. The thesis was also intended to form a basis for comparison between the urban nitrogen flow and other flows of nitrogen within Scania. The management of nitrogen in society has disturbed the natural nitrogen cycle. This is linked to a series of environmental problems such as eutrophication, acidification, global warming and smog. The method used was Substance Flow Analysis (SFA) for Nr. For calculation and flow charts Scania was divided into three subsystems; air, water and society.

Den här uppsatsen har behandlat de hälsingska bonaderna, Skogbonaden och Överhogdalsbonaderna och deras rika bildvärld. Dessa bonaders tillverkningstid infaller vid kristendomens inträde och begynnande etablering i Norden. Jag har frågat mig om det går att se någon religiös kontinuitet i bonadernas bilder, och har därför studerat dem i ett syfte att söka se spår av anpassningsfenomen såsom ackulturation och synkretism i mötet mellan den fornskandinaviska religionen och kristendomen.Olika forskare ger olika betydelse åt begreppen ackulturation och synkretism. Här har jag valt att arbeta med Anders Hultgårds begrepp där ackulturation avser anpassningsfenomen och inflytande som inte påverkar de centrala delarna av en religion och synkretism avser mer djupgående förändringar som kan ske i ett religionsmöte. Jag gör detta genom att visa exempel på integrering i ett ofta försummat material i kristnandeprocessen från min egen hemtrakt, Hälsingland.

Förutsättningarna för skogsbruk och rennäring skiljer sig mycket från varandra, likaså markanvändningen och synen på hur skogsmarken bäst skall användas. Detta har lett till återkommande konflikter mellan skogsbruket och rennäringen. För att rennäringen skall kunna bedriva en uthållig renskötsel behövs tillgång till sammanhängande områden med gammal och relativt obrukad skog. Skogsbruket i sin tur måste regelbundet avverka skogen för att erhålla en hög ekonomisk lönsamhet. Inom en stor del av Holmens skogsinnehav bedrivs skogsbruk och renskötsel på samma marker.

This study aims to describe the conditions, of which some youths who live in a segregated area in Sweden, see as important for their development of an identity. The study have been conducted in a manner where we put the youths own words in focus. The youths are in charge of deciding what they regard as important for their own development of their own identity. In this study we assume certain contexts, of which we base the study. These contexts include the society, the urban districts, the school, the family, and the language.

IAS 41 är en värderingsstandard för Jord- och skogsbrukstillgångar. Detta innebär att alla jord- och skogsbrukstillgångar ska redovisas till verkligt värde vid varje bokslutstillfälle. IAS 41 har funnits sedan tidigare men sedan IASC blev IASB så har den reviderats. Den har både fått visst nytt innehåll samt en del av det gamla har behållits. Den största förändringen är dock att tillgången ska värderas till verkligt värde istället för anskaffningsvärde.Vi har i denna uppsats valt att titta på hur aktiva inom branschen har sett på IAS 41 innan, under och efter förändringen i standarden.

This work is a study in how I as a designer can create the conditions for people to work, socializing and refreshments at one place. A place that encourages creativity, where I made a suggestion at a community table designed for Urban Deli?s new business. By visiting various similar sites I have identified what I think is important in an environment like this and then gave an answer to it in a visual form.A cafe-office will draw lots of different people. Which guests come here to work? Residents, freelancers, but also those who may want surrounded by a new creative work place and maybe leave their regular offices for a day at Urban Deli.

Highly polluted urban storm water from e.g. highways can contain large amounts of heavy metals that may cause harm if they are discharged into recipients. To remove the heavy metals a possible low-cost method that does not require much maintenance, could be the use of reactive filters with filter materials consisting of industrial residues or other cheap mineral based materials. Dissolved metal ions are removed by reactive filters through the processes of ions binding to active sites on the surface of the filter materials, or by formation of insoluble precipitates.The ability of CaO-treated granulated blast-furnace slag, iron oxide coated sand, olivine and nepheline to remove seven heavy metals (Cr, Cd, Cu, Ni, Zn, Pb and Hg) from urban storm water was studied. Initially batch experiments were performed where the effect of pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and dissolved ions on the adsorption efficiency was studied.

ABSTRACTToday's modern technological society is constantly evolving and house planning is one area that is constantly creating new technical solutions. By looking back at selected architectural eras during the 1900?s, the idea is to study and analyse three building structures in Gothenburg with a focus on quality and content in the urban space.In order to provide a background for the three selected areas, their history has been studied. The main question for the research is: how do different building structures affect the content and qualities in the urban space?The areas have been selected to represent three typical epochs in Swedish building history.
