This master thesis examines the development of the two earlier independent IR protocols Z39.50 and SR (Search and Retrieve, ISO 10162/10163), now Z39.50/SR, from the beginning of the 80s to 1996 and their functionality in the client/server environment.Z39.50 applications in library systems will allow easy access to information regardless of platform or location. The use of Z39.50 will create a new user environment. Almost all the library systems of the market support the Z39.50 and surprisingly the use of it in Sweden lied on a very low leve! in 1996. This thesis was followed-up by an interview and a questioner among the Swedish Z39.50 users. They could see a huge potential of development concerning the future IR process.

The purpose with this study was to examine six caseworkers and two clients? experiences of interaction in the investigative work of social assistance. Moreover, how the interaction between caseworkers and clients are affected by the structure of the social assistance unit. The study also wanted to show how interaction rituals contribute to the change in assessment procedure in the investigative work. The study even aimed to highlight the ways in which social exclusion occurs in investigative work from caseworkers and client?s capital and gender.

The purpose of this study is to generate knowledge about how teachers relate to students with language impairment in learning situations, with particular focus on working memory. The questions are: What kind of knowledge do teachers have regarding language impairment and working memory?, What experience do teachers have regarding lack of working memory abilities among students with language impairment and which consequences do the teachers believe such defects may have for the students? and How can teachers create a learning environment that reduces the working memory demand for students with language impairment? A review of the field shows that there are gaps to fill regarding students with language impairment and working memory. Language impairment has so far been neglected by researchers and within the public debate. How working memory capacity affects the students has only recently begun to receive attention in school and research.

Detta examensarbete har genomförts på uppdrag av Totalförsvarets Forskningsinstitut. Examensarbetet är ett av fyra delprojekt i projektet Telekommunikationer för strid i urban miljö. Detta eftersom bilismen påverkar staden negativt ur ett miljö- och trygghetsmässigt perspektiv. Då Karlskrona kommun avser att etablera ett nytt resecentrum med 450 närliggande bostäder i området Gullberna ökar behovet av ett väl fungerande gång- och cykelstråk för detta och omkringliggande områden. During the last years, the importance of sourcing in firms has increased. Globalization, fierce competition and an increased level of outsourcing are common explanations to why firms have highlighted the potential to realize savings and the value creation that the Purchasing department can generate. One trend that follows in parallel with globalization is an increased pressure from society on firms to take responsibility for the impact that its products and services have on the environment. This responsibility creates even more attention as outsourcing involves trade with suppliers in low wage countries, where the level of environmental and social responsibility is not always satisfying. The Purchasing department, the firm?s interface with suppliers should therefore, together with the firm?s Environmental department, play a key role in the firm?s contribution towards sustainable development.

This is a study of democracy on the local level. It?s a comparison between the municipalities of Mo?rbyla?nga and Mo?nstera?s in the region of Kalmar in Sweden based on most similar design. The question is if the structure of the political organisation affects the quality of democracy, with focus on the reorganisaton in Mo?rbyla?nga and the quality of the political process.

An analysis of Zolas Nana focusing on male desire. Through a study of the narrtive structure and the polemic relation between the concepts of ?Nature? and ?Culture? it is shown that opposing ideologies are imbedded in the text. Nana is a symbolic character, in large, a myth created by male desire that eventually becomes a manifestation of that desire. At the same time, however, the character Nana evolves from being a mirrored image of male desire into a more stable and real individual and this process is also an answer to when and why she dies,underlining the fact that she initially was a creation emanating from male desire and in losing those symbolic functions she loses her function in the novel..

Detta arbete är ett examensarbete om markpackning i urban miljö med fokus på att undvika, åtgärda och ett växtval. Arbetet är skrivet på 15 hp inom LTJ-Fakulteten under perioden 2009/2010. Arbetet har olika avsnitt som tar olika ämnen inom markpackning.Den första delen handlar om bakgrunden till arbetet där det tas upp att ämnet kommer i grund och botten från Alnarp förskola samt att det är ett stort problem i den gröna sektorn. Själva syftet med arbetet var att få en bättre förståelse för markpackning hur det uppstår, hur det kan undvikas och åtgärdas. Det ska kunna ge grund till kommande arbeten i ämnet eftersom det är en sammanfattning av forsknings- och rapportmateria .

Följande arbete undersöker hur regelverket angående byggnation i kulturhistoriskt värdefulla områden tolkas och vad utfallet blir av detta. Stumholmen har valts ut som fallstudie och den paragraf som undersöks är en del av 2 kap, 6§ PBL. Paragrafen talar om hur ny bebyggelse ska utformas och placeras och att ändringar och tillägg ska göras varsamt. Stumholmen har tidigare varit en sluten ö tillhörande militären. I början av 1980-talet beslutades att ön skulle öppnas upp och att en funktionsomvandling skulle genomföras. Ett omfattande arbete påbörjades från kommunens sida med områdesbestämmelser och detaljplaner.
