Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i att kår- och nationsobligatoriet den 1 juli 2010 ska avskaffas. Det blir då frivilligt för studenter vid Uppsala universitet att vara medlem i någon studentnation. Uppsatsen syfte är att undersöka Uppsalas studentnationers uppfattning av deras marknadsposition och hur väl deras strategier inför kårobligatoriets avskaffande överensstämmer med denna. Syftet är även att utifrån ett teoretiskt perspektiv rörande tjänsteleverantörers strategier i samband med avregleringar, analysera vilka strategiska åtgärder nationerna prioriterar i samband med kårobligatoriets avskaffande. En teoretisk referensram rörande tjänsteleverantörers strategiska åtgärder har använts i detta syfte och operationaliserats i uppsatsens metod.

This thesis is based on an exhibition at the county museum Upplandsmuseet in Uppsala, Sweden. During an internship at this museum I got a chance to produce an exhibition, with some guidance from the museum staff. This exhibition was created with the purpose of teaching about agriculture in the late 19th century and also about the magnificent workmanship of Alrik Klingberg, who have carved these wooden objects for over 50 years. Each one of the objects possesses a story and a memory. The memories that Alrik Klingberg has incorporated into the objects are mainly from his childhood at a croft in northern Uppland.

The frame extends to government agencies and authorities in the Swedish public sphere, and aims to identify ulterior motives for their work with branding.Method/Material: The material used in this thesis consists 102 graphic manuals for government agencies in the Swedish public sector. Denna uppsats är en framtidsstudie där skillnader och olikheter mellan tre olika orter lyfts fram genom ungdomars framtidsdrömmar. Undersökningen bygger på intervjuer med elever från högstadieskolor på olika orter. Syftet är att försöka besvara fyra olika frågeställningar inom tematiseringarna genus, platsidentitet, klass och tid för att slutligen göra en jämförelse mellan orterna. Orterna, som är Uppsala, Hedemora och Bergshamra, är utvalda för att få en bra storleksfördelning från stor till liten ort. Av mitt material har jag gjort en kulturanalys för att kunna studera erfarenheter, likheter och olik-heter i ungdomarnas synsätt och värderingar.

Title: Market Communication in transformation Authors: Gabriella Holm and Christoffer LarssonPurpose/Aim: The purpose of this paper is to examine how market communication at PR-firms in Sweden has changed over the first decade of the 21-century. In 2007 social media expanded on the Swedish market. This had implications for the way we are looking at communication and therefore also the PR business and how they are operating. The aim with this paper is to see how social media have affected marketing communication at PR-firms.Methodology: This paper is based on case studies from Swedish PR-firms. We used five cases from 2003-2005 and five from 2010-2012.

Tritordeum is the result of a cross between a wild barley (Hordeum chilense) and durum wheat (Triticum turgidum). Tritordeum have high viscosity and a nice yellow colour. The objective of this thesis was to evaluate Tritordeum lines HT 354, HT 361, HT 437, HT 2218 (JB3) and HT 1608 (JB1) for use as a new raw material within the food industry. Analyses made were on dietary fibre, fructan, ash, water content and colour. Compilation of data from analyses made for Agrasys an Agri-Food company in Barcelona having the commercial rights to Tritordeum, included Lutein and rheological properties.

To support, enhance and, in the future, develop the activity within the county councils in Sweden, IT support systems are currently used to a large extent. The need to document is central to the health care organizations and the counties have come a long way in the introduction of electronic patient record systems (EPR). The aim of the EPR systems is to support the care processes and the clinical professions in their work.This is a master thesis in the area of human-computer interaction (HCI), Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University. The aim of the thesis was to describe and compare the five most common EPR systems in Sweden. The comparison will focus on some usability aspects and on how well they support the users in their clinical practice.

Acute bacterial prostatitis is a common disease in older male dogs. It gives symptoms such as fever, pain, tiredness, infertility, unwillingness to mate and sometimes symptoms from the urinary tract. It is common that you do an ultrasound exam on dogs when you suspect prostatic changes. In this study 15 dogs diagnosed with acute prostatitis at the small animal clinic at SLU in Uppsala were examined. The clinical signs and the ultrasound pictures were put together in retrospect.

 This essay aim to clear the regulations that adjusts the use of non-compete clauses in contracts of employement. The historical developement shows tendencies that more employees have contracts that includes non-compete clauses. This developement does not always correspond with what is allowed concerning these clauses. Non-compete clauses is adjusted by the regulations in the collective agreement known as the agreement of 1969. The agreement has also been accepted outside its regular field of application.

In this paper, I design a new concept for a patio at Hotel and Restaurant Villa Anna in Odinslund, Uppsala, Sweden. Through this design, I examine how urban farming can thrive in a restaurant-context. The purpose of the design is to give the visitor a sense of the core values of the cuisine and to strengthen the sense of place by storytelling. My methods are comprised of a literature study on urban farming and storytelling as well as a discussion with the res-taurateur Rafael Löfstedt. I create a story of the place by examining its historical background and connect it to the current philosophy of the Villa Anna restaurant.

Denna studie inriktar sig på att belysa införandet, funktionen och tillämpningen av den kommunala utmaningsrätten. Ett relativt nytt fenomen och form av samarbete mellan privat och offentlig sektor där externa aktörer ges en möjlighet till att ta initiativ till konkurrensutsättning av kommunalt producerad verksamhet. Undersökningen genomförs utifrån policyprocessen som fasmodell och analyseras utifrån en värdebeteckning rekonstruerad utifrån den svenska lagstiftningens normativa ställningstaganden gällande den offentliga sektorns funktionspremisser. Studien tar formen av en jämförande fallstudie där införandet, funktionen och tillämpningen av utmaningsrätten i Uppsala kommun och Kungsbacka kommun undersöks och sedan jämförs. Resultatet påvisar att utmaningsrätten i båda kommunerna införts under partipolitisk oenighet, under kritik från remissinstanser och att drivkraften bakom ett införande främst grundar sig i ett resonemang om ett behov av ökad kostnadseffektivitet och produktivitet.

For several years Uppsala University together with several companies has been involved in a WISENET project aimed at improving railway transport security. By placing a sensor system near the wheels of each wagon, the temperature of the bearings can be measured and transmitted to a collector placed centrally on the wagon. This in turn transmits the collected data to RFID receivers placed intermittently along the railway.As the signals are transmitted wirelessly, problems may occur as the antennas get dirty or coated with ice and snow. To determine the effects of these coatings, several tests were performed examining the reflection coefficient S11, the impedance Z11 and the efficiency eta of an antenna, and how they varied when various coatings were placed over the antenna. Examined coatings were ice, snow and water to determine the effects of weather, and various metal-based coatings: powdered iron both pure and partially oxidized, and iron ore granules.

Den här fallstudien syftar till öka kunskapen om hur Stena Line kan förbättra service genom lärandet från en e-learning utbildning samt om personalen har ett behov av uppföljning, och i så fall hur den ska utformas. Vi ville även öka vår kunskap om hur Stena Line kan förändra de anställdas beteenden med hjälp av e-learning och vilka förutsättningar som krävs för att personalen ska bli motiverade till att förändra sitt beteende.Fallstudien har genomförts genom metodkombination. Tillvägagångssättet har varit att inledningsvis dela ut en enkät, kvantitativ metod, för att skapa oss en uppfattning om arbetsplatsen. Därefter genomfördes semistrukturerade person-, och gruppintervjuer med ett strategiskt urval, kvalitativ metod, med en intervjuguide som utformats med hänsyn tagen till enkätens resultat. Det kvalitativa tillvägagångssättet har varit vår huvudsakliga metod.Vi har kommit fram till att hur utbildningen presenteras är viktigt för hur den mottas hos anställda, vilket i sin tur påverkar resultatet av utbildningen.

Syfte: Att undersöka hur äldre personer och personal på ett vårdboende som lagar maten på plats uppfattar kvaliteten på den mat som serveras samt huruvida det förekommer några skillnader i deras åsikter.Metod: Kvalitativ design med semistrukturerade intervjuer och kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Fyra äldre och fem personal, samtliga kvinnor, intervjuades på ett vårdboende i Uppsala. Dessa valdes ut med hjälp av kostombudet på vårdboendet, s.k. strategiskt urval.Resultat: Äldre och personal uppfattade maten som god, varierad och ofta förekommande. Valfrihet, hemlagad, traditionell mat och mat som varken är för stark eller salt är uppskattat av de äldre enligt både personal och de äldre.
