The food-safety legislation in Sweden were changed and updated in 1996, much because of demands from the European Union for a common legislation regarding the food-safety issues in the EU. This report discusses how the Swedish authorities are dealing with the new legislation in Sweden. Further on the report presents how the food safety officers in the municipalities in Sweden are implementing this new legislation in their daily work, especially the requirements regarding the HACCP, Hazard Analysis Control and Checkpoints. The report shows that the implementation is quite slow and that many foodsafety-officers don?t implement the legislation in the same way all over the country.

Estimation of the variation in the integrated hydraulic conductivity around the Tunåsen infiltration facility - An investigation of the effects of uncertainties in existing informationAlmost half of Sweden?s drinking water volume is produced from groundwater. The main fraction of this is extracted from eskers, some of which allow for very large extraction rates. Despite this, the groundwater volume is not sufficient in some areas. This has led to an extensive use of artificial recharge.In Uppsala, the total volume added through artificial recharge is divided between four infiltration facilities.

The reason for the study was to look deeper into employees? motivational factors, this with a focus on salary as motivational factor in structures of salary boxes where it is possible for the employee to work towards goals which affect their salary. The primary purpose of the study was to look into if employees? ability to advance their performance had any connection to the impostion of salary boxes.Methodology: In order to collect as much data as possible for the measurements one of the largest occupational groups in Uppsala municipality was chosen, which represents the group of pre-school teachers.

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur offentliga och ideella samhällsaktörer som möter våldtäktsdrabbade kvinnor uppfattar stödet till dessa kvinnor. Frågeställningarna är hur aktörerna upplever kvinnornas stödbehov, sitt eget stödarbete gentemot kvinnorna samt samhällets stödarbete gentemot kvinnorna. Studien bygger på intervjuer med fyra informanter från Uppsala Tjejjour samt fyra informanter från Kvinnofridsenheten vid Nationellt Centrum för Kvinnofrid i Uppsala. Materialet har analyserats genom innehållsanalys och genom detta har olika teman utkristalliserats. Med hjälp av socialkonstruktivistisk och feministisk teori strävar vi i resultatet efter att skapa förståelse för informanternas upplevelse av stödarbetet till våldtäktsdrabbade kvinnor.

Bakgrund: Utbudet och försäljningen av ekologiska livsmedel har ökat de senaste åren. Detta har medfört att distributionskanalerna blivit fler. Utbud och pris är två viktiga faktorer vid inköp.Syfte: Syftet var att undersöka om konsumenter i Uppsala är nöjda med utbudet av ekologiska livsmedel samt priset på dem, och även att undersöka om de upplever att de kan påverka utbudet av ekologiska livsmedel.Metod: Undersökningen var kvantitativ och genomfördes i form av en enkät med frågor med fasta svarsalternativ. Vid genomförandet användes ett bekvämlighetsurval. Av 120 insamlade enkäter inkluderades 107 stycken.Resultat: Konsumenterna anser priset vara för högt, både i Uppsala med omnejd samt den matbutik de oftast handlar.

Vattenfall district Heating power plant in Uppsala produces district cooling with absorption heat pumps which leads to a large amount of waste heat that has to be cooled with evaporative cooling towers. The Environmental Court has ordered Vattenfall to survey the possibilities to recover the heat, which is the focus of this thesis.The study begins with an overview of the system, and conditions and limitations for waste heat recovery is examined. In the next step alternatives to recycle the heat is evaluated, either by direct recovering or by upgrading.First, the technical possibility of each alternative is discussed, and then the operation time and the amount of recovered heat is calculated. Those alternatives which are possible are brought further to an economic analysis.The cost of investment for each alternative constitutes the basis for a present value analysis. The results are put together in a table where the total amount of recovered heat is compared with the present value for the different alternatives.

I denna rapport har jag redogjort för hur jag gått tillväga i skapandet av ett illustrerat handledningsmaterial som kan förklara för elever i årskurs 4-9 hur olikablomväxter och deras livscykel ser ut. Uppdraget har varit ett samarbete mellan mig och Uppsala botaniska trädgård. Detta handledningsmaterial som skapats ska användas av lärare eller handledare under studiedagar på Uppsala botaniska trädgård i undervisning om blomväxter. Informationen i arbetsmaterialet innefattar hur blomväxters livscykel kan se ut, hur blommor kan sprida sina frön och hur blommor pollineras.För att komma fram till hur dessa kretslopp och företeelser kan illustreras för att visa den väsentliga informationen har jag använt mig av teorier inom informationsdesign. En omvärldsanalys och målgruppsanalys har också genomförts för att undersöka hur liknande material kan se ut, och vilka förutsättningar målgruppen har för att ta till sig informationen..

I denna uppsats belyses Polisen i Uppsala län ur ett varumärkesbyggande perspektiv med syfte att undersöka om teorier avsedda för företag i konkurrenssituation även kan appliceras på en offentlig myndighet. En kartläggning av Polisen Uppsalas arbete med personifiering av sitt varumärke i sociala media görs genom intervjuer, innehållsanalys och sekundärdata. Insamlad data avseende hur deras varumärkesbyggande stämmer överens med teorier om corporate brand, corporate brand personality och corporate brand personality traits avser besvara uppsatsens syfte. Resultatet visar att en stark koppling mellan Polisen Uppsalas varumärkesbyggande och uppsatsens teoretiska ramverk finns. I undersökningen framkommer att arbetet med personifiering är grundligt utformat genom Polisens värdegrund.

This Master's thesis work was done at SLU, Uppsala, Sweden in cooperation with Upplandsstiftelsen and Uppsala County Council. The studied area is pointed out as an area for EU´s LIFE project, NATURA 2000, concerning the Scarabid beetle Osmoderma eremita. The studied area lies in an agricultural landscape rich on deciduous trees, about 15 km south of Enköping in the County of Uppland. The species is dependent on large, old, hollow trees, which are exposed to sunlight, usually oak trees in this area. I studied the area in detail concerning large old trees (>70cm ø), middle-aged oak trees and young oak trees.

Today, there are few industries left in our cities. Industrial areas thatare located in urban settings close to water or city centers are oftenreplaced by housing. In my thesis I want to explore how such industrialsite located in an urban setting can be transformed into anindustrial park where the industrial structures are saved. By approachingthis type of environment in a positive manner, I wish tohighlight the potential aesthetic and functional value in the existingindustrial structure. Through the transformation and design of anexisting industrial site I will convey the previous use and history ofthe place.The wastewater treatment plant, Kungsängsverket, is located in thedistrict of Kungsängen in the southern part of Uppsala.

The organized and controlled form of collecting consumption taxes and toll from the import and export trade goes back to the 17th century in Sweden. The customs administration and procedure were regulated by royal announcements, and the majority of the documents found in the customs archives represent thus records stipulated by such notifications. The customs archives can be used for research on several levels; the announcements reflect currents within both the domestic and foreign politics, while the account lists for financial statistics portray the extent of the trade. The various lists of compilation can be further used to follow for instance the development of different units of measurement, the expansion of tax rates, the value of trade goods or the changes in monetary units or systems. The diaries, architectural plans of the customs offices and maps of the toll areas place the customs officials and their work within the local scenery.The thesis focuses on archives deriving from customs located at harbors and on the Swedish-Norwegian border in the county of Dalarna.

Denna rapport är en del i ett självständigt arbete där en pedagogisk produkt utformats för Evolutionsmuseet i Uppsala och är även en del i projektet ?Kulturarvet som högskolepedagogisk resurs vid Uppsala universitet?. Produkten kommer att ingå i Evolutionsmuseets utställning Svensk fauna och behandlar skalbaggar som nedbrytare på markytan i naturen. Produkten består av ett informationsblad skrivet som en berättelse och ett tittskåp. För att undersöka behovet av samt utvärdera vår produkt har vi använt oss av semi-strukturerad intervju och deltagande observation som metod.

In health care today at Uppsala County Council the daily work involves spending time at the computer. IT-systems were implemented to support and aid the care givers in their work. Around these systems there is a support organization to support the users in using the system. The aim of this thesis is to investigate this organization in terms of how well it works and how successful it is in helping the users. This has been done by investigating the flow of information trough the organization and by focusing at the role of IT-coordinators with responsibility for support, process development, education and statistics.

This article starts with a review of the literature regarding the normal reproductive physiology of the mare, normal luteolysis, different causes of prolonged luteal phase and theories behind these. The article also presents a study where it was examined if treatment with human choriongonadotropic hormone (hCG) during the luteal phase induces prolonged luteal phase in mares, thus preventing estrus. The study consisted of two parts: one intensive study of eight mares at the former Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at SLU, Uppsala, Sweden and one field study of seven mares at a stud farm 70 km north of Uppsala. The mares in the intensive study were divided in two groups: one with four mares that were injected with hCG in luteal phase when they had a follicle of minimum 30 mm and a second group with four mares that were injected with sodium chloride at the same time. These mares were examined with ultrasonography and blood samples.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur socialtjänstens lokala förebyggare i Uppsala kommun arbetar med ungdomar i åldern 12-16 år gällande droger. Studien är begränsad till fyra, av kommunen prioriterade, stadsdelar i Uppsala kommun. Förhoppningsvis kan studien bidra till ökad kunskap om, och diskussion kring, det förebyggande arbetet med ungdomar gällande droger. Metoden var kvalitativ och bestod av halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Resultaten som analyserades med hjälp av tidigare forskning visade att de lokala förebyggarn arbetar på flera nivåer, strukturell-, grupp-, och individnivå.
