In the Kolmården area, northeast of Norrköping in south-central Sweden, it was discovered that shoots of spruce Picea abies, plants to a seemingly large extent had been browsed by deer. The area inhabits a dense red deer population, alongside with moose and roe deer, and red deer is thus suspected to cause the damage. The main purposes of this study are, however, to estimate the extent of the shoot-damage and to investigate what factors that may affect the browsing of shoots. For each stand information was recorded about the age of the plants, area for the stand, height over the sea for the stand, site productivity, type of plants and stand-history. The study was done in three areas: Simonstorp, Stavsjö and Valinge. At Simonstorp and Stavsjö, respectively, 10 stands were chosen for study and on Valinge six stands. In each stand, 10 plots were sampled.

Background: The women who were called in for further examinations after a breast screening had all their examinations and test during one day. This organization has been conducted since 1993 in this clinic, but has not previously been evaluated. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the patients? experiences of the organization, in a radiologic breastcancer clinic, where all the examinations and the test-results were given at the same day. Method: An empirical quantitative study was performed.

 Like adult obesity, childhood obesity prevalence is rising, especially in the Western World.As many as 20 ? 25 percent of the ten years old children are overweight in Sweden. It isimportant to early identify overweight, since overweight could lead into diabetes, mentalsuffering, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.The aim of this study was to describe how nurses experience and perceive the conversationwith parents of overweight children. A qualitative method with a content analysis has beenused. Six nurses working in child health centre have been interviewed.The result shows that the conversation between the nurse and the parents of an overweightchild can be very difficult.

I Sverige lever ungefär 15 000 barn med autismspektrumtillstånd och diagnosen är vanligare än cancer, diabetes och Downs syndrom. Tillståndet är livslångt och det finns inget botemedel. När ett barn får en diagnos inom autismspektrumtillstånd påverkas hela familjens livssituation. Syftet med denna studie är att belysa föräldrars upplevelse av att leva med ett barn med autismspektrumtillstånd. För att besvara syftet genomfördes en litteraturstudie baserad på kvalitativa artiklar, där en analys av åtta artiklar sedan kom att mynna ut i vårt resultat.

On the island of Gotland in the Baltic sea there have been 18 archaeological find of bronze swords and five finds of bronze miniature swords and they have been dated to the bronze age periods II-VI. They have been found as ritual hoard offerings, as treasure hoards and in graves. These finds will be put in relation to each other and the bronze age landscape they have been found in. The purpose of this is to see if there is a pattern to be seen, if a specific sword-type can be found in a grave or hoard or if there?s a pattern to be seen in there placement in the landscape relating to other bronze age sites.

In this master?s thesis the problem of simulating conditional Bernoulli distributed stochastic variables, given the sum, is considered. Three simulation methods are considered, namely the acceptance/rejection technique, Bondesson?s method and the Markov chain Monte Carlo method.To compare the three methods the bias and the standard deviations of the simulated variables are evaluated. The results of the simulation study shows that the Markov chain Monte Carlo method is not the best method for this type of simulation.

The Swedish dairy production today consists of big farms and different housing systems are in use. These systems put demands on the cows? ability to cope with the environment and one challenge is the claw health in the herds. Some claw lesions that are frequently observed are foot rot, hemorrhages, digital dermatitis and sole ulcers, which can be caused by, for example, the claws? environment and the flooring type used.

This essay examines two modern retellings of the classic fairy tale of Snow White and the seven dwarfs in the version of the brothers Grimm. By analyzing the differences in the modern version to the more original one my aim is to be able to see how these objects of popular culture are affected by the type of society they are created within.In my two-step analysis I have first used the theory of narratology to find what changes had been made in the two retellings. Here I have the help of several key concepts of the theorists Vladimir Propp, Gérard Genette and David Bordwell. The narrative differences, which turned out to concern the characters mostly, I have then sought to explain in the light of the sociological theories of Zygmunt Bauman regarding liquid modernity and liquid fears..

In the study I will also reflect over existing research within the area and to link these to the issue and those interviewed opinions. The effects of Reindeer mechanical damages on the planted regeneration of Pinus sylvestris and Pinus contorta. Semi-domesticated reindeer can damage young trees. In late winter reindeer rub their antlers against young trees. The aim of this study was to quantify those damages. This study covered planted objects from three different areas in northeastern Sweden.

Kronisk sjukdom berör många människor och livsstilsförändringar i samband med sjukdomsbilder är viktiga ur både individ- och samhällsperspektiv. Litteraturstudie användes som metod för genomförandet av studien. Syftet med studien var att undersöka vilka metoder för patientutbildning som fanns beskrivna för hur sjuksköterskor skulle kunna öka motivationen till livsstilsförändringar hos patienter med kronisk sjukdom samt hur dessa metoder upplevdes av patienter och sjuksköterskor. Sökning efter relevanta artiklar gjordes i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl. Begränsning gjordes till vuxna patienter med de kroniska sjukdomarna: KOL, ischemisk hjärtsjukdom och diabetes typ 2.

Background: Mergers have been increasing during the latter part of the 1990s. In the Nordic region many previously national companies have joined their forces to create a new Nordic company. This will lead to many challenges when the companies are integrated.Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the integration phase. Our goal is to study the integration of Cloetta Fazer and learn how the company can handle the two types of integration. Procedure: To be able to prove our assumptions, that were made on the basis of literature, we have collected empirical material by interviewing eight managers at Cloetta Fazer.

The object of this essay has been to investigate the interlibrary loan service at the universitylibraries of Borås and Kalmar. For this purpose a quantitative and a qualitative methodhave been used.The main body of information consists of statistic data concerning the incoming interlendingorders for a three-month-period. In order to examine the circumstances under which theinterlending activity exists several interviews were made.The study showed that there are several important factors which together make up the complexitythat governs the interlending activity. What type of demand there is depends on theeducational level, whether the different study programmes have a broad or limited subjectorientation or not, and if the demand is of a constant or an inconstant nature. Well-establishedroutines at the information-desk and co-operation with the departments of the different studyprogrammes are important factors in keeping the knowledge of what books and serials areneeded up to date..

Syftet med denna kvantitativa studie var att undersöka om det fanns någon skillnad mellan idrottande och icke-idrottande ungdomar i avseende subjektivt välmående. Barn och ungdomars hälsa är ett otroligt viktigt område att forska på då folksjukdomar, såsom till exempel fetma och diabetes, bereder ut sig och sjunker allt lägre ned i åldrarna. Därför har föreliggande studie valt att undersöka området för att se om välmåendet kan påverkas av att individen är engagerad i organiserad idrott.Området undersöktes med hjälp av enkäter som distribuerades i respondenternas skolmiljö. Totalt deltog 134 respondenter som var och en fick besvara frågor kring sin livstillfredsställelse och sitt känslomässiga välbefinnande. Resultatet visade att det fanns signifikanta skillnader mellan idrottare och icke-idrottare.
