The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the democratization process in Kurdistan on the basis of consolidation democracy with focus on arenas defined by Linz and Stepan (1997), namely economic, political, legal, civil society and arenas of state bureaucracy. Furthermore, I intend to explain Kurdistan?s road toward democratization in Kurdistan from 1991 until today, with a focus on the years 2003-2012. The main results are that Kurdistan has developed conditions that support a future consolidation of democracy. However, there are weaknesses in the economic situation, rule of law and the arena of bureaucracy.

Syftet med undersökningen är att beskriva hur levnads- och arbetsförhållanden inom svensk sjöfart har förändrats till följd av MLC-2006. Undersökningen visar hur dessa förändringar till följd av MLC-2006 upplevs av sjökaptener och representanter från Seko, SFBF och Transportstyrelsen. Examensarbetet har genomförts med hjälp av intervjuer för att ge en bild av hur MLC-2006 upplevs i svensk sjöfart. Informanternas upplevelse är att svensk sjöfart inte har förändrats nämnvärt till följd av MLC-2006. Däremot medförde MLC-2006 en högre standard på fartygen i hela världen, för att främja en mer rättvis konkurens mellan olika flaggstater samt för att tillgodose sjömännens rättigheter..

Syftet med denna studie är att studera fenomenet snowbird, undersöka Filippinernas förutsättningar för turism för att till sist beskriva Filippinernas förutsättningar för svensk snowbirdturism.Uppsatsen utgår från ett kvalitativt angreppssätt genom både kvalitativa intervjuer och en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Studien bygger på tio semistrukturerade intervjuer som tillsammans med en innehållsanalys av internetbaserade källor leder fram till studiens resultat.Studien har visat att Filippinerna har förutsättningar för en utveckling av svensk snowbirdturism. Genom studien har det även kunnat konstaterats att en problematik råder vad det gäller avståndet mellan Sverige och Filippinerna..

When a helicopter is flying, the dynamics vary depending on, for example, speed and position. Hence, a time-invariant linear model cannot describe its properties under all flight conditions. It is therefore desirable to update the linear helicopter model continuously during the flight. In this thesis, two different recursive estimation methods are presented, LMS (Least Mean Square) and adaptation with a Kalman filter. The main purpose of the system estimation is to get a model which can be used for feedback control.

Approximately 60 million cubic meters of round wood are transported every year with trucks in Sweden and stand for 15 % of all truck transportation in the country. The big amount that is transported results in many haulage companies works in different parts of the country with different conditions to get a good flow on their transports. Today the transport pricing is very general and the payment consists of the unit round wood they are transporting and the distance of the transport. The purpose of this study were, from the freighter and the haulage company?s perspective, try to find ways to change the today applied transport pricing to more differentiated and compare them to historic payment of transportation.

This study forms part of the R&D project "Improved survival of bird chicks in organic fields" managed by the Rural Economy & Agricultural society in Uppsala. The skylark (Alauda arvensis) is a species that has decreased drastically in Sweden as a consequence of more intensive cropping. Studies in England have shown that skylark reproduction can be greatly improved within conventional fields, at a low cost, by establishing patches of bare ground (skylark plots). Within conventional farming, herbicides can be used in case a weed problem arises due to implementation of these skylark plots, whereas this is not allowed in organic farming. This study examined the effects of skylark plots on the weed culture in organic autumn-sown (winter) cereals and whether weeds might cause long-term problems to farmers. The study was conducted in two parts; a field study and a review of the literature regarding the weeds observed. The field study was carried out in 2007 during three weeks in June and three weeks in July, on eleven organic fields with winter cereal in the vicinity of Uppsala.

The purpose of this study was to analyze and develop a workflow for assessing and representing the value of ecosystems to professionals involved in municipal planning. A thorough literature review was conducted and supplemented by interviews and observations. Frameworks for ecosystem service assessments were analyzed and combined with methods in urban planning in order to assess social and ecological conditions. A workflow was set up and methods were evaluated by applying them to a case study in the area Åstråket in Uppsala. Experience from the case study was compiled in order to improve the workflow.Complex assessments were identified and simplified for the method to be useful for practitioners.

In this project forging of aluminum alloy Al 6026 T9 has been performed in the temperature range of 400 °C ? 470 °C. The alloy which was in the shape of a cylindrical billet was formed in a press with the aim of analyzing the effect of different forging temperatures and required press load for optimal die filling. The component?s dimensions were later measured and compared to a reference piece.

Sedan har vi valt att titta på hur en mer traditionell lön ser ut och vilka förmåner utöver lön som kan förekomma.Vi har genomfört två intervjuer angående hur en traditionell eller ?normal? lön fungerar samt fyra intervjuer med fastighetsmäklare angående lönesystem för fastighetsmäklare..

This analysis is carried out in an attempt to challenge the conventional image of the man who pays for sex.The aim is to examine the role of Internet forums for men who buy sexual services related to cross-border, both in terms of standard borders, gender boundaries, boundaries of sexuality and masculinity. I will also attempt to investigate what opportunities that are available to overrun different borders and how these opportunities affect the conditions of the various players. This essay discusses the Nordic region Bohuslän the decade after it became "Swedish" in 1658, during what I call the region's "transition period". The wide cause of the study is to show how the traditional understanding of this state shift (and of state shifts in general) need to be problemized and understood in the light of the state conditions of Early Modern Europe. By examine court protocols from the local-court of Orust and Tjörn (one of five local courts in contemporary Bohuslän) and the local noble's writings to the Swedish parliament, a tricky mixture of references to different territories gets observed and analyzed.To approach the difficult identity problems, I have assistance in Peter Sahlins' conclusions from his study of the French-Spanish borderland during the same period. Especially helpful are his identity schemes by which he (inspired by the Norwegian anthropologist Fredrik Barth) supposes that each identity originates from a counter-identity. This study ends up in an attempt to reconstruct the landscape of identities and counter-identities found in the sources, according to professor Sahlins' schemes.
