The main aim of this thesis is to introduce a normative perspective to surveillance studies. I examine how the use of videocameras or CCTV-systems can create a social sorting and, then, try to answer why it ought to be reconstructed based on a normative study.For the empirical analysis I use Foucaults theory about the panopticon, maintained by the psychological subjection of the common citizen in the modern world, together with Lianos theory of a more socio-cultural surveillance in the post-modern world. The empirical examination is, furthermore, guided by a theory that describes the construction of the stranger, which today, is not explicitly excluded, because everyone is a stranger in some way, but rather depicted as the other due to institutionalization.The post-modern society today can no longer be built upon a common or divine moral or norm. Thus, I have chosen a normative method, using a deliberative democracy derived from Habermas, focusing on the communicative practice, that can engage and include every citizen in a democratic process. This is necessary for both deciding whether videocameras should be installed and whom and why some should be under surveillance ? to avoid a social sorting that both can constitute and undermine social Trust and increase the gap between the governing and the governed..

The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine how identity formation is described in a few Swedish youth novels written in the 21^st century. We apply the theories of the psychiatrist Jan Ramström and the sociologist Anthony Giddens who both assume that identity is formed in relation to the environment. Ramström stresses that adults have an important role to play in the integration of the adolescents into the adult society. Giddens stresses that people in the late modernity are affected in their identity formations because of the loss of traditions. In order to find out how identity is formed, four main questions were constructed.

Syftet med denna undersökning är att se hur lekmannaövervakare och klienter uppfattar relationerna sinsemellan ur ett sociologiskt perspektiv. Även hur dessa parter uppfattar relationen när det gäller kontakten och tilliten.Vi har utgått från en kvalitativ intervjumetod där vi har intervjuat sammanlagt åtta personer varav fyra lekmannaövervakare och fyra klienter.I arbetet har vi utgått ifrån fyra teorier, intrycksstyrning, stigmatisering, stämplingsteori av Erving Goffman samt den abstrakta tilliten av Anthony Giddens.Resultatet visar att lekmannaövervakarna och klienterna har en viss tillit till varandra men visar samtidigt att det finns gränser på hur nära man som lekmannaövervakare vill komma sin klient och tvärtom. Vi har också kommit fram till att både klienter och lekmannaövervakare har en vetskap om hur man gör för att bygga upp ett förtroende hos varandra, men att alla bygger detta på olika sätt.I analysen kommer du att få läsa om hur vi kopplat vårt resultat till de fyra olika teorierna för att sedan kunna ge en förklaring ur ett sociologiskt perspektiv.Nyckelord: Frivård, relationer, tillit, klient och lekmannaövervakare.

This study examined constructions of horses and means staff working with horses parallel to therapy in institutional care ascribes to horses. A narrative method was used and the theoretical framework was social constructionism. A question was asked to the narratives: How can practice in institutional care be understood through these stories? The result showed different pictures of institutional care. Horses seem to provide a multi-faceted therapeutic tool.

The aim of the study was to focus on well-being and sexuality for a woman in a couple?s relationship. Seven women were interviewed and the analysis was carried out with a phenomenological approach based on lifeworld theory. The respondents reported their lived experiences of well-being. The result is summarized in five constituents: the relationship?s common living-space, looking for companionship, the relationship as touching, the intimacy of the relationship and the importance of other people for the relationship.

This essay deals with the weak and unstable urbanization process of the town Falkenberg. The aim has been to explore how a new town could be established just a kilometre away from the town (Old) Falkenberg and what kind of meaning the town had in relationship to the towns Halmstad and Varberg. This was made through the study of the political situation in Denmark and Sweden during the 15th century and through a comparison of the town churches. The archaeological material of Falkenberg is very small and thus I had to Trust the available historical literature about the town.Not much of the oldest history of the town is known, but a conflict between the landed aristocratic family Thott and the king Kristian I in Denmark has been interpreted as a reason to the establishing of the town. In conclusion the survey showed that the king probably established New Falkenberg in purpose to limit the trading possibilities of Thott and to, at the same time, increase his own power in the district.

Looking at the debate on nuclear power in Sweden, the issue of risk is central to understanding the difficulties in resolving differences between proponents and opponents. I sought to answer the research question: "how is the concept of risk constructed in the nuclear power debate in Sweden?" Four main aspects of risk construction were defined and investigated to identify differences between sides in the debate. Through a qualitative study of the debate and its actors I found clear differences in respect to all four aspects of risk construction. First, the perception of nuclear power as a "normal risk" is common among nuclear opponents in contrast to a largely probabilistic view among proponents.

Relationen mellan riskkapitalist och företagsledare kan härröras till industrialismens genombrott i början av 1900-talet, vid den tidpunkten ägde uppdelning av ägare och företagsledning rum. Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva och öka förståelsen för grunden i relationen mellan en riskkapitalist och en företagsledare. När ägandet och styrningen är uppdelat kan konflikter uppstå vilket gör det intressant att även beskriva och öka förståelsen för när de båda aktörerna i relationen kan ha differentierad riskattityd. I den teoretiska referensramen beskrivs två teorier som kan anses ligga till grund för ekonomiska relationer, principal ? agent teorin och tillits teori.

The Private Equity industry has over the past years been booming and major external environmental changes have made the industry transform rapidly. Increased competition between Private Equity firms is one of the reasons why the industry has been and is being forced to focus more on addition of value through increased operational management. Consequently, the focus of value addition is by some said to be transferred away from deal making and financial skills, and into active operative management. This case study investigates how the portfolio management, and more specifically the measuring and management of performance, is carried out in a number of leading Swedish Private Equity funds with investments in the biotech sector. The biotech sector is characterized by extensive research and development, and many biotech companies often lack income and other measurable financial parameters in the initial phase.

Background:Alzheimer's disease is a disease that primarily affects the elderly but also younger people. Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia which means that you get changes in the cerebral cortex and cells gradually die. The disease causes memory loss and things that were obvious before will be difficult for the sufferer. Alzheimer's disease also affects next of kin to a large degree; they will have to take a great responsibility. The next of kin are entitled to support from healthcare.Aim:The aim was to highlight next of kin' experiences of healthcare to their family members with Alzheimer's disease.Method: The study was based on narratives, which in this case means analysis of autobiographies.

The aim of this study has been to describe and clarify the phenomenon violence from patients within neuropsychiatric institutions, as experienced by staff members. The study has adopted an actor perspective and phenomenology as a philosophic and theoretical framework. The method used for data collection and analysis has also been influenced by phenomenology. Data consisted of five semi-structured interviews of a descriptive nature, and the goal of the analysis has been to articulate the general structure of the phenomenon. The results showed that the violence from patients is characterized by a professional commitment which includes always staying ahead and being able to help, protect and express a high level of emotional self-control.
