The Baltic Sea is threatened by eutrophication that largely is due to nutrient leaching from farmland within the catchment area. To solve this problem the surrounding countries cooperate within various configurations such as HELCOM and the EU-financed project Baltic Compass. Poor manure management in Russia has been discussed frequently the last couple of years. A literature review of different types of reports and legal acts is the core of this degree project which has been performed in connection to two ongoing research projects financed by EU (Baltic Compass) and SIDA. It is supplemented with interviews with Swedish agricultural consultants and travel reports from two occasions when I had the opportunity to discuss with Russians active within the agricultural sector. Different hypotheses were investigated and discussed. The environmental debate in Russia is quiet and there is a widespread approach that economic profit always trumps environmental concern ? a Soviet heritage that influence the Russian agriculture considerably. The Russian legal acts on stable manure management focus mainly on sanitary questions and only secondary on nutrient leaching.

Fo?r att koordinera alla transporter av byggmaterial in till omra?det, samt hantera avfallstransporter ut ur omra?det, har Stockholms stad etablerat ett bygglogistikcenter vars ma?l bland annat a?r att reducera antalet transporter.Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att ta fram en metod fo?r utva?rdering av potentiella miljo?effekter med bygglogistikcentret i Norra Djurga?rdsstaden. Examensarbetet har tittat pa? byggtransportlogistik ur ett livscykelperspektiv fo?r ja?mfo?relse mellan tva? olika scenarion, da? ett bygglogistikcenter finns (scenario 1) respektive da? ett sa?dant inte finns (scenario 2).

Hemoglobin is built up from protein and heme groups which give the blood its red colour . Hemoglobin Transports oxygen and carbon dioxide between the lungs and other tissues in the body. Normally, a piglet has a hemoglobin value of 130-150 gram per liter blood, and the lower limit before anaemia appears is 80 grams per liter blood. The immune defense is also dependent upon the presence of iron in hemoglobin, since iron participates in different enzyme systems. When the piglet develops anaemia, it becomes pale and thicker around the neck.

Den 13:e juni 2004 invigdes det nya resecentrumet i Sandviken. Det anlades med avsikten att möjliggöra snabba och enkla byten mellan tåg, regionbussar, landsortsbussar och stadsbussar inom en och samma terminal. I samband med detta genomfördes också en linjenätsomläggning av den kommunala busstrafiken inom tätorten. Särskilt stor blev förändringen för stadsbusstrafiken som förutom att den fick en ny knutpunkt också hadekrav på sig att kostnadseffektiviseras då anslagen inte hade höjts för att täcka de ökande kostnaderna. Resultatet av linjenätsomläggningen för stadsbusstrafiken blev ett resurseffektivt linjenät med fem nya linjer och fyra trafikerande bussar varav endast en buss i trafik på kvällar och helger.Resandet med stadsbusstrafiken i Sandviken har minskat med 30,4% sedan linjenätsomläggningen 2004 och även om minskningen för den totala, inomkommunala busstrafiken begränsar sig till drygt 9% under samma tidsperiod är indikationen att resenärerna har känt sig missnöjda med det nya stadsbusslinjenätet.

The global wood pellet market has seen a rapid growth after the adoption of the Kyoto protocol and the renewable energy incentives created within the European Union. The global consumption of wood pellets reached 13,5 million tonnes in 2010 and several experts estimate the consumption to be between 35-50 million tonnes by 2020. These forescasts raise the questions which regions that can supply this vast amount of wood pellets and what the conditions are for producing it. This study evaluates the conditions for wood pellet production and export from British Columbia, on Canada?s west coast, focusing on existing industry structure, raw material supply and the distribution chain.

In Sweden plans to build high speed railways have been around since the early 1990s and the planshave developed to be more precised since. The future Swedish high-speed rail network is supposedto consist of two lines. Götalandsbanan; from Stockholm to Gothenburg, and Europabanan fromJönköping through the Öresund Region to Hamburg.The description of the aim to build high-speed railways in Sweden has in former reports always beento achieve rapid passenger traffic between big Scandinavian cities and Europe. There are almostnothing mentioned about the possibilities of high-speed Transports of cargo on these railways. Thisstudy aims to clarify the freight transport market for Götalandsbanan and Europabanan.Today there is only one transport system with high-speed freight trains.

The society of today is dependent of secure Transports and deliveries of electrical power. Interruptions in different activities because of fallen trees cost a great deal of money in form of reparations and claimed damages for transport companies and electrical suppliers. Fallen trees along some railway sections are a severe problem. For instance, to repair the damages of the storm of week 5 year 2002, costed 2 800 000 SEK for the line region of Hässleholm. Today, the Banverket railroad company has no norms in general for how close to the railway the forest is allowed to grow.

Att människor idag avstår från att delta i sociala aktiviteter i samhället på grund av att de känner sig otrygga i kollektivtrafiken, och då särskilt på hållplatser och vägarna till och från, går inte ihop med Göteborgsregionens mål om en ökad användning av kollektivtrafiken. För att få fler att välja kollektivtrafiken som färdmedel måste tryggheten kring hållplatserna öka, vilket skulle innebära fördelar för både hälsa, miljö och välfärd. Det är speciellt kvinnor som anger att de, särskilt kvällstid, avstår från vissa aktiviteter för att de inte känner sig trygga på hållplatsen eller väljer att gå långa omvägar hem för att de känner sig otrygga. Olika fysiska åtgärder, i det offentliga rummet, påverkar den upplevda tryggheten hos människor och med enkla medel tryggheten öka avsevärt på en plats.Syftet med detta arbete är att belysa trygghetsfrågor i samband med hållplatser i Göteborg för att bidra till den debatt som finns angående trygghet i kollektivtrafiken.För att göra detta har en analysmetod tagits fram och ett verktyg har utformats för att undersöka tryggheten på en hållplats och dess närmaste omgivning. Detta kommer att underlätta prioriteringar och utveckling av platsen ur en trygghetssynpunkt.En omfattande litteraturstudie har genomförts för att få en uppfattning av begreppet trygghet och vad det innebär.

ABSTRACT There is present a lot of focus on animal welfare issues during transport and the related loading and unloading of animals. This thesis is a field study investigating the present situation of beef and dairy farms in Sweden. The predominant reasons stressing cattle when transported to abattoirs are when they are loaded and unloaded on the trucks. The aim of this thesis is to improve the handling and the loading facilities to facilitate the handling and reduce the stress for the animals as well as the personnel. The field study was done by travelling together with the Transports from the farm to the abattoir in Uppsala. Three trucks where used and about 60 farms were visited January to March 2003.
