The background for my thesis is the fact that with rising electricity and oil prices it becomes interesting to calculate on alternative heating systems. I have chosen to calculate upon my parents? farm, which today heats the dwelling house with wood. This is very time-consuming work, time which could be spent on other work.
The main objective for this study is to compare three different heating systems to decide how they differ considering effort and cost.
The result from the calculations was that grain-heating system demanded the least amount of work, but the total cost was a little higher compared to chips heating. Chips heating required half as much work as today?s wood heating and had a little lower total costs compared with the corn heating.
Which system to choose largely depends on how the own work is valued.

High demands are set on all equipment used in emergency service work, where small margins can be the distinguishing factor between life and death during a rescue operation. It is important that tools such as ladders quickly and easily can be dismounted from a vehicle and still satisfy the regulatory requirements for securing loads during transport. The existing solution for getting ladders down from the roof of a fire engine requires a large manual effort from the user in an ergonomically unsound posture.In this degree project a new ladder holder is developed with focus on the user to solve the ergonomic problems and at the same time create a more compact design that can be adapted to several different types of ladders. After an initial pre-study with user-interviews and measurement of forces and distances a set of requirements was formulated that came to govern the project's direction. Creative methods were used to generate concepts that improved the function and through design solutions, calculations and testing in CAD a base for manufacturing of a new product was created.The result is a completely new type of ladder holder that minimizes the user's manual effort and simplifies the securing of ladders in the holder.

The main goal with this thesis report was to come up with ideas of how to make the use of energy more effective and thus save money for the company.First a survey was made to find out where and how the energy consumers were divided within the company. The results were then used in calculations to find out how much money that could be saved and how long it would take to get back the investments.There is a big potential in saving money by recovering heat from the UV-lamps with a heat exchanger. It would also even out the pressure in the factory which is a source to heat loss and a cause for discomfort amongst the employees. It?s possible to save 105 000 kr in a year and the money needed for the investments is 600 000 kr.By using the recovery air more effectively the company could save up to 250 000 kr a year in lowered heat purchases, but this would require the use of automatic dampers.If you reschedule the running times for the wood chipper and invest in some kind of load management, for example Sydkraft?s ?Energidirigent? you can save at least 42 000 kr.

Interest in the implementation of AGV-systems (Automated Guided Vehicle) has in recent decades increased. The reason is that it allows companies to perform reliably and secure internal transport while reducing the need of personnel. It is one of todays most advanced and complex material handling system that can independently make their own decisions regarding flow paths and traffic control. An AGV-system consists of transport units carrying cargo from point A to point B, and communicates using a computer.The purpose of this study is to develop a model on how to proceed in order to design an AGV system in heavy industry. The model is tested by a case study of a company in the metal industry to determine if the model works and gives the correct result.

Transportation of pigs might be a welfare problem. Stress during and after transportation can negatively affect the meat quality or cause carcass damages, which leads to major economic losses every year. The transportation chain can be divided into several stages; loading, transport and unloading. This literature review focuses on unloading of pigs from a transport. When arriving at an abattoir pigs can be fatigued and need to be as smoothly unloaded as possible.

The purpose of this essay is to investigate if signage for tourists in Stockholm is enough to easily find your way to attractions and public modes of transport and how the city works with the issue. Triangulation was chosen for the essay, that is, a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. A survey of 100 tourists was carried out in the Old town of Stockholm and interviews were made with stakeholders in the tourism industry and signage policy in Stockholm. The survey showed that most of the tourists found it easy to find their way in Stockholm and that they were content with the signage. Few of the tourists thought it was difficult to find their way in Stockholm.

A lengthy disruption thus involves disruption of production for both domestic consumption and for export goods containing imported parts.In order to secure shipping routes with a limited number of vessels, Mine Counter Measures (MCM) capacity is required, and according to the Armed Forces, developed with new sensors and autonomous vehicles.
Att flyga eller inte flyga : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om klimatengagerade personers syn på flyget
Antalet flygresor har ökat markant i världen de senaste decennierna. Detta har medfört en ökning av flygets koldioxidutsläpp som därmed har gett en ökad påverkan på klimatet. Forskning angående människors syn på och uppfattning om flyget är relativt ny och forskning rörande ämnet är mer förekommande idag än för ett decennium sedan. Tidigare undersökningar är dock i stort sett eniga om att människor, både miljömedvetna och icke-miljömedvetna personer, inte tänker ändra på sina flygvanor och flyga mindre på grund av flygets klimatpåverkan. Denna studie undersöker klimatengagerade personers flygvanor och vad de har för syn på flyget och flygets påverkan på klimatet.

Utveckling av inbyggda system med grafisk programmering
The increase of complexity in embedded programming is forcing the development of higher level programminglanguages. These languages not only consist of traditional text based programming but also with graphical programminglanguages such as the programming language G from LabVIEW which is developed by National Instruments and havebeen around since the mid eighties. However since 2004 this language has also been able to program embeddedhardware, using the modules LabVIEW SDK and LabVIEW for ARM. This thesis shows how LabVIEW for ARM converts itsgraphical language G to C and then how C is flashed into the microprocessor. The thesis also takes up the pros and consof using G for embedded development.

This master thesis is an in-depth study of an existing heating system at a household cooperative in Uppsala that has been converted from district heating to a bedrock heat pump system. The study focuses on an economical system optimisation of the building?s complete heating system. The aim was to determine how well a heat pump system in large buildings actually work, find out possible ways to optimize the existing system and point out important system parameters for new heat pump installations in larger buildings.The project points out a possible energy cost reduction of 45 % without investment and further cost reductions with equipment investments. A reduction by 30 % is possible by improvements in the regulation system and 15 % is possible by maintaining the brine system.
På väg mot en grönare distribution : En studie av möjligheter till miljövänligare transportupplägg för Polarbröd AB:s export till den franska marknaden
Syfte: Huvudsyftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka ett företags givna transportstrukturs miljöpåverkan i växthusemissioner eller CO2e. Detta genom att med hjälp av olika verktyg och teorier ta fram ett antal scenarion som har en lägre miljöpåverkan än befintlig transportstruktur. Det sekundära syftet är att ta fram modeller som hjälper företaget att ta hänsyn till de ekonomiska kostnader som kan vara kopplade till en omstrukturering av transportstrukturen.Metod: Kvalitativa intervjuer om grön logistik och vilka verktyg som används i detta arbete samt en kvantitativ datainsamling i beräkningar av emissioner med hjälp av NTMCalc.Slutsatser: Ett antal olika scenarion togs fram där miljöpåverkan uppskattades, utifrån dessa valdes 5 stycken ut som hade en lägre miljöpåverkan än befintlig transportstruktur. I dessa utvalda scenarion tas hänsyn till ytterligare faktorer som exempelvis ledtider, hur många landsgränser som måste korsas, tätortskörning etc. Då det inte finns ett ekonomiskt underlag för vad ett transportstrukturbyte skulle kosta förs det en diskussion med rekommendationer över åtgärder vid ett byte av transport..
Assuandammens påverkan på Nilen, Egypten
Regulation of rivers by dams and reservoirs is a good example where anthropogenic impact could be considerable both in the local environment, but also has major implications upstream and downstream. This study was accomplished as a literature study of the river Nile, which is extremely important for water supply. The purpose of this study was to investigate the consequences of the construction of the Aswan High Dam, to obtain a consistent flow for water supply, irrigation and power generation in Egypt. Since Egypt has a very hot and dry climate large amounts of water in reservoir is lost to the Nubian aquifer system and by evaporation. The consequences from constructing the dam are considerable.
Att vårda i en ambulans: : Intensivvårdssjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda kritiskt sjuka patienter under markbundna interhospitala transporter
ABSTRAKTBakgrund: Interhospitala transporter innebär ökade risker för medicinska komplikationer för den kritiskt sjuka patienten. Inom ramen för intensivvårdsjuksköterskans kompetens ingår att kunna utföra omvårdnad till den kritiskt sjuka patienten under interhospitala transporter. Sjuksköterskor med specialistutbildning inom intensivvård kan under transport av kritiskt sjuka patienter uppleva oro. För att kunna förbättra omhändertagandet av patienten är det av intresse att ta reda på om det finns fler perspektiv och upplevelser av arbetet vid denna komplexa situation som en interhospital intensivvårdstransport innebär.Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva intensivvårdssjuksköterskors upplevelse av att vårda kritiskt sjuka patienter under markbundna interhospitala transporter.Design: Denna studie har en kvalitativ design.Metod: Semi-strukturerade intervjuer med åtta intensivvårdssjuksköterskor spelades in och transkriberades för att sedan analyseras med tematiskt analys.Resultat: Ur analysen konstruerades tre huvudteman. Att sträva efter att ha kontroll över situationen, Betydelsen av ett bra samarbetet i teamet och Att utmanas i sin yrkeskompetens.Slutsats: Resultatet visade att transportera kritiskt sjuka patienter mellan sjukhus kan ge upphov till både negativa och positiva känslor.

Sustainability reports have during the last decade had a strong development. Both in terms of establishing a sustainability assurance, in its form, and get it assured together with standards, principles and regulations which organisations and accountants have utilized. The growth of sustainability reports and the choice of getting them assured have in particular favoured the accounting business. Due to this result, some critics have voiced that assuring a sustainability report gain accounting firms more than it gains the actual organisation. Other say that it is necessary in order to increase the credibility and the eligibility of the report, while it also has become a requirement from stakeholders.
