The aim was to examine whether measurements of creativity as a domain general Trait can explain possible connections between a domain general creative performance and one of the creative domain specific areas, humor. Another aim was to examine whether the maladaptive humor styles can explain possible differences in creative performances. An Internet-based survey was used on 281 students from a Swedish university. The survey was composed of three parts consisting of three separate measuring instruments ? Sense of Humor Questionnaire (SHQ-6) was used to measure the respondents? sense of humor, Humor Style Questionnaire (HSQ) measured the respondents? humor style and Alternate Uses Test (AUT) gave the respondents an opportunity to account for their creative performances.

Syftet med undersökningen var att se om det fanns någon skillnad i personlighet mellan beroende människor och icke-beroende människor. Med ?beroende människor? menas människor som är beroende av alkohol, narkotika eller andra kemiska substanser, eller människor som är beroende av aktiviteter, som exempelvis spel. Studien bygger på att människan, i enlighet med Trait-biologiska perspektivet, har vissa fundamentala personlighetsegenskaper som är biologiskt grundade och som påverkar människans beteende och därmed hans/hennes sätt att leva. Tanken bakom studien var att vissa personlighetsdrag kan inverka när det gäller benägenheten att utveckla ett missbruk.

This study describes the intellectual ability of a cohort consisting of 120 young women in compulsory care at a SiS institution in Sweden, tested and analyzed between January 2001 and May 2005. The women have been tested with the intelligence tests WISC-III or WAIS-R, as well as the personality Trait tests BCT, CMPS and SCL-90, and the personality disorder test SCID-II. This material has been analyzed to investigate how these women's intellectual ability relates to other factors. The analyses show that the main difference between the women of this study and the normal population is their level of intelligence and presence of personality disorders. The IQ level of these women is statistically proven on an average one standard deviation lower than the normal population.

Rhodesian ridgeback is a dog breed that originates from southern Africa. The characteristic ridge (a dorsal ridge where the hair grows in the opposite direction to the general coat) is shared with an Asian breed, Thai ridgeback. The origin and inheritance of the ridge has been examined and defined. The ridge-mutation is a duplication that contains four complete genes, FGF3, FGF4, FGF19 and ORAOV1 and the 3´-end of CCND1. The ridge is inherited as an autosomal, dominant Trait and predisposes for Dermoid sinus (DS), a disease that develops during embryogenesis.

In the beginning of the 19th century, Swedish was the only official language of Finland, and thus the dominating language in administration and higher education. However, during the latter part of the century, efforts were made to develop Finnish into a language which could be used in every part of society. In 1881, the medical society Suomalainen Lääkäriseura Duodecim was founded with the development of a medical terminology in Finnish as one of its main purposes. In 1885, a medical paper, Duodecim, and a medical dictionary were published. The aim of this study is to illuminate the vocabulary of the dictionary.

Syftet med studien var att beskriva förekomst och typ av patienters eventuella oro inför anestesi. Litteraturöversikten har baserats på vetenskapliga artiklar av både kvantitativ och kvalitativ art. Trettioen artiklar granskades och 21 av dessa valdes ut till resultatet.De flesta studier som behandlade oro inför anestesi var av kvantitativ art. Oro i form av olika slags olustkänslor definierades av flera författare utförligt och på flera sätt. Resultatet påvisade att oro var ett vanligt förekommande fenomen och kunde objektivt mätas med hjälp av självskattningsskalor, där de vanligast förekommande är Visuel Analog Skala (VAS) och State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI).

In 1996 a hunting test for British gun dogs was started in Sweden, based on a similar one al-ready in place in Norway. The aim of the new test was to describe the hunting ability of the dog and to use the results as a basis for selection. However, up to now, no genetic study of these data has been done. Therefore the aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for the Traits measured in the hunting test and to investigate whether the Traits can summarized into fewer overall measures. Data from trails of British gundogs between 1996 and 2005 in Sweden were used to estimate genetic parameters and environmental effects in hunting performance. British gundogs consist of five different breeds: Pointer, English setter (ES), Gordon setter (GS), Irish red setter (Irl S) and Irish red and white setter.

The aim of this study was to study how Swedish youth national football players handle stressful events in sports. A longitudinal questionnaire diary was constructed from a revised version of Nicholls and Polmans (2007) design with the intention of recording in-sport and psychosocial stress, choice of coping strategy and coping effectiveness. The participants were 59 Swedish youth national football players born 1992 observed during a four day national training camp held by the Swedish Football Association. Data were drawn from a quantifying analyzing method. The main result showed that the most common stressors reported were, physical injury or pain, experiencing teammates or opponents to perform better and feeling generally insecure during training camp.

Cross-suckling, i.e. when an offspring nurses a female other than their own mother, occurs in pig production systems where sows are group housed during lactation. As production systems where several sows and their litters are housed together during lactation are getting more common, the need of knowledge regarding cross-suckling increases. The overall aims with this thesis was to investigate how sow behaviour and productivity are associated with the occurrence of cross-suckling, and to investigate consistency in sow nursing behaviour related to cross-suckling. The study included information about the first 4 parities of 40 LxY sows kept in outdoor and indoor production environments. Sows were single housed the first 2 weeks after farrowing and group housed (4 or 5 sows per group) from 2 weeks after farrowing until weaning, 7 weeks after farrowing.

Idrottsskador har konstaterats vara både fysiskt och psykiskt fenomen, och under de senaste åren har ett ökat intresse för den psykologiska faktorn visat sig. Syftet med studien var att undersöka om det finns något samband mellan upplevd stress och frekvensen idrottsskador hos elithandbollsspelare samt att undersöka om det finns något samband mellan grundanspänning (Trait anxiety) och situationsspecifik anspänning (state anxiety). Ett tredje syfte är att undersöka huruvida en idrottares stressnivå varierar över tid och jämföra detta med de aktuella spelarnas skadefrekvens. Informanterna var 20 manliga elithandbollsspelare (19-32 år) i elitserien i Sverige, under säsongen 06/07, fördelat på två klubbar. Urvalet som gjordes var ett strategiskt urval, baserat på klubbarnas geografiska lokalisering.

The aim of this Master thesis is to describe why and how public librariesuse the social networks Facebook and Twitter. The focus is to study whatbrought about their use, how the work is carried out, ideas and objectivesbehind the use and what libraries actually convey on the networks. Themethodology is twofold: semi-structured interviews with responsiblepersonnel at four Swedish public libraries, and an ethnographic contentanalysis of four months of the libraries' status updates and tweets onFacebook and Twitter. The theoretical framework consists of a model forthe roles of the public library in society, and of discourses about thepublic library in media.Results indicate that social networks are used to market, make accessibleand inform of the library's resources and services. Furthermore, networksare used to communicate/interact with followers and to inspire people toread.

Coaching har blivit mycket av ett slagord inom företagsvärlden och olika konsultfirmor. Men vad innebär det konkret för individer och organisationer? Denna studie kommer att behandla coaching utförd av en ledare. Därav kommer både ett öppet och modernt ledarskap som coaching kräver behandlas, samt huvudämnet coaching.Bakgrunden till studien är främst att allt för många ledare idag fortfarande rekryteras med auktoritär ledarskapsstil som inte prioriterar utveckling av de anställda, samt att coaching som definition ibland misstolkas. Så syftet är att behandla dessa frågor och diskutera kring frågeställningarna: Vad är coaching? Vilken betydelse har coaching? Metoden som tillämpas i denna uppsats är en kvalitativ studie med fyra representanter från Brynäs IF hockey A-lag, tränaren Niklas Czarnecki, assisterande tränare Tommy Jonsson, spelarna Ove Molin och Emil Sandin presenterar deras verklighet omkring ledarskap och coaching..

Syftet med studien var att undersöka om det optimistiska/pessimistiska personlighetsdraget hos kvinnor med bröstcancer förändras av att genomgå en strålbehandlingsserie. Studien hade en jämförande design och urvalet var ett bekvämlighetsurval. Undersökningsgruppen bestod av 67 kvinnor i åldern 30 till 86 år med behandlingsbar bröstcancer. Kvinnornas personlighetsdrag skattades före och efter strålbehandlingsserien med hjälp av ett validerat mätinstrument, LOT-R. Enkäten bestod av tio påståenden som besvarades med hjälp av en fem-gradig skala ( 0="Stämmer inte alls,..., 4="Stämmer precis").

Höftledsdyplasi är hos hund en ärftlig åkomma som uppfödare har försökt avla bort i årtionden. Tyvärr har uppfödare och rasklubbar i de flesta fall inte uppnått de resultat de hoppats på. Mitt mål med denna litteraturstudie har varit att försöka ta reda på varför och vad man i dagsläget gör för att förbättra dessa avelsprogram. Jag har även försökt finna svar till varför avelsframstegen skiljer sig mellan olika raser och olika länder. För att förstå sambanden mellan avelsstrategier och avelsframsteg har jag även gått djupare in på hur höftledsdysplasi nedärvs.
