Researchers in the field of political corruption generally expect voters in democratic states to lose trust in corrupted politicians. However, there are cases where corrupted politicians maintain their popularity, a phenomenon studied in this thesis. Focus lies on three cases of political corruption: the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi who has been the subject of several judicial investigations and court cases; the impeached former president of Lithuania, Rolandas Paksas; and the German Christian Democratic Union's (CDU) involvement in a party funding scandal. The cases are chosen based on the method of agreement. Berlusconi, Paksas and CDU have all, in spite of their corrupt behaviour, kept or regained popular support among a large group of their country's citizens.

This study in Environmental Science examines the amendment of the EU-Directive on. Greenhouse gas emission allowance trading. The Directive is to be considered as a tool for fulfilling the obligations that the Union and its member countries have taken on through the 1997 Kyoto agreement together with the protocols proposed at that time. The flexible mechanisms of the protocol are intended as instruments for limiting the climatic changes arising from anthropogenic sources, emission allowance trading being one of these mechanisms. The results presented here consist primarily of an analysis of interviews with various experts in the field of emission control concerning the possibilities and problems attending the process of implementation.

Problemställning: Vi har gjort ett antagande att den offentliga servicesektorn i sina upphandlingar i första hand frågar efter den tekniska kvaliteten (vad tjänsten består av) och inte efter den funktionella kvaliteten (hur tjänsten levereras). Förutom att tjänstekvalitet är subjektivt är tjänsterna svåra att värdesätta. Det är något enklare att värdesätta teknisk kvalitet än funktionell och detta beror på tjänsternas särarter. Upphandlingar i offentlig sektor är reglerad av lagen om offentlig upphandling vilket innebär att leverantörerna inte kan påverka kunderna. Det är kundens ansvar att ställa både tekniska och funktionella kvalitetskrav.Syfte: Syftet är att beskriva och analysera hur tjänstekvalitet värdesätts i en upphandling inom servicesektorn.Metod: Vi har genomfört litteraturstudier inom upphandling och tjänstekvalitet för att få en förståelse hur tjänstekvalitet kan värdesättas i en upphandling.

In this thesis I will discuss how US respectively EU general international security policies are formed with the scientific theories Rational Choice and Cognitive theory in mind. I?ll discuss how come US tends to go towards a more sanction orientated strategy while European Union seems to prefer a dialog and diplomatic problem solving strategy. I?ll exemplify respective security strategy through the qualitative cases study of Iran and analyse why they have taken different cores of action while trying to solve the problem with Iran's alleged nuclear weapon.

In the last decade the Italian authorities have tried to adapt themselves to a united European asylum system, in the European Union, through the adoption of legal reforms, intended to improve the conditions of asylum seekers in Italy. Despite these reforms, asylum seekers and refugee?s living conditions are far from covered. The aim of this study is to explore the different functions of social work in the Italian reception process regarding unaccompanied minors and their implications on the wellbeing of the unaccompanied minors. This study was conducted through several interviews with both social workers, which in some way worked with unaccompanied minors, and the unaccompanied minors themselves.

 Euro barometer surveys show quite an astonishing change in Turkish opinion towards European Union. In 2004, 73 % of the population considered EU as a good thing. In 2008, only 49 % were of the same opinion. At the same time, skepticism towards European integration is explained differently in earlier research. Some scholars claim that partisanship may explain attitudes of citizens better than ?cost and benefit? approaches.

The transport sector is one of the biggest pollutants in the European Union. In relation to transport policies and environmental policies, intermodal transportation solutions are of high relevance to establish a sustainable transport sector for the future. Intermodality which is defined as smooth transition between transport modes is a key figure for how modal shares are divided between the modes of transportation. The aim of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine the research gap whether policies intended for a specific transport mode affects each other in relation to EU policies intended for intermodality.

Denna uppsats syfte har varit att undersöka hur det flexibla arbetet upplevs och hanteras av fackförbund. Studiens huvudobjekt har varit tjänstemannaförbundet Unionen där fyra kvalitativa intervjuer gjorts och en rad officiella dokument granskats. Utöver Unionen så har två intervju gjorts med en deltagare var från Vision och Handelsanställdas förbund.Fackförbund möter idag nya typer av frågor. Det handlar om frågor som rör hur arbete idag organiseras och hur medlemmarnas inställning till fackens verksamhet förändrats. Det flexibla arbetet är en sådan fråga.Flexibelt arbetet som fenomen framstår som något komplext för fackförbund.

Bakgrund: Många biltillverkare fick stora ekonomiska problem under den ekonomiska krisen i slutet av 2008. Detta gjorde biltillverkarnas kapitalstruktur och skuldandel till ett högaktuellt ämne.Syfte: Studien syftar till att ta reda på om det finns något samband mellan biltillverkarnas skuldandel och resultat, börsvärde samt finansiella nyckeltal under låg- respektive högkonjunktur.Genomförande: Sekundärdata har samlats in från företagens årsrapporter och finansiella rapporter. Dessa data har sedan sammanställts för att kunna göra en regressionsanalys och hypotesprövning. Detta för att se om det finns något samband mellan skuldandelen och nyckeltalen.Resultat: Det fanns ett signifikant samband under både låg- och högkonjunktur mellan skuldandelen och resultatet samt räntabiliteten på det totala kapitalet. Det är svårt att säga om det är skuldandelen som är den beroende eller oberoende variabeln, det vill säga om det är skuldandelen som påverkar nyckeltalen eller tvärt om.

This study examines whether the policy breadth and the alternatives in European politics affect variations in voter turnout between member states in elections to the European Union Parliament.The theoretical approach assumes that; a larger political polarization, an increase in EU-skeptical parties and a greater voting mobilization among groups with less means results in higher voter turnout figures. The study also consider four other variables; whether the election is held on weekends or weekdays, whether elections coincide with other national elections, whether a country has held the presidential of the EU during or the immediate term prior to the election and finally the turnout figures from national elections.The research design is based upon a quantitative analysis using data from EP elections, national elections and databases from the European Elections Studies (EES). Study unit is twelve member-state countries and their four latest EP elections (1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009). The selected member-states origin from the EU-15 excluding Belgium, Greece and Luxembourg due to their compulsory voting laws.The study found relationships between higher turnout figures in EP-elections and increase in EU-skeptical parties, greater mobilization among groups with less means, elections held on weekends, elections coinciding with other, national elections and an increase in voter figures in national elections..

Organisationskommunikation har under de senaste decennierna påverkats av olika samhälleliga förändringar. Störst påverkan har möjligheten att kommunicera via digitala medier haft. Många förutspådde att dessa digitala medier, såsom intranät, skulle leda till bortfallet av mer traditionella pappers-kanaler, exempelvis personaltidningar, som länge använts för intern kommunikation. Detta har emellertid inte inträffat vilket tyder på att papperskanalerna bidrar med något de digitala medierna inte kan. Dessa resonemang formade en fråga om vilka medium som bör användas för att organisationer ska nå sina medarbetare med information.Det sätts alltså en stor tilltro till att de digitala medierna kommer styra en allt större del av den interna kommunikationen i framtiden.

In this essay we strive to examine how the social work in Sweden will be affected if the Swedish welfare model goes through fundamental changes. The study illuminates the close connection between the Swedish collective bargaining model and the Swedish welfare system. The questions we present in this essay, and hopefully answer satisfactory, are: is the Swedish welfare model subject to thorough changes? How will such a change alter the social work in Sweden?, is the Swedish collective bargaining model in a state of modification? Would a modification in the collective bargaining model have effects on the Swedish welfare model?We have used a qualitative method in collecting empirical material. We interviewed three representatives, who worked for Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, IF Metall and The Swedish Municipal Workers respectively.

Today, we use BKR and BBK 04 when designing concrete structures inSweden, which will, in the near future, be replaced by Eurocode 2. When you are designing buildings, you will use Eurocode 2 Part 1-1 and with this new standard, some new rules and general rules will be necessary to adopt. To examine how BKR and BBK 04 tells apart from Eurocode 2 when designing concrete structures, one beam and one column with often common dimensions, is studied. The beam is designed with consideration of (considerate to) durability at bending moments, shear forces and control of cracking. The column is designed with consideration of durability at eccentric axial load and bending moments in cross section on account of (due to) geometric imperfections. BBK 04 has gone one step closer to Eurocode 2 than earlier editions and the things that are different, when calculating reinforcement, is how they use the partial factors.

Denna uppsats behandlar tjänsteerbjudandet och dess strategiska roll i ett shoppingcentra. Anledningen till att vi blev intresserade av detta ämne, var att vi tyckte oss se en sammansmältning av tjänsteerbjudandets olika komponenter bland annat inom detaljhandeln. Därför ansåg vi att Field?s shopping- och upplevelsecentra, utanför Köpenhamn, skulle vara ett lämpligt objekt att studera på grund av att det är Skandinaviens största shoppingcentra samt det faktum att det är nyetablerat. Utifrån detta utformade vi vår frågeställning: Hur arbetar shoppingcentra strategiskt och operativt med att integrera upplevelser i sitt tjänsteerbjudande? Detta har vi valt att undersöka genom en kvalitativ fallstudie, där vi genomfört intervjuer, bildanalys samt egna observationer.

This study focused on how local politicians in Kalmar perceive journalists and their intertwined relationship. We based our study on the theoretical understanding of today?s media-centric democratic society. The ?adversary model? offered an understanding of the intricate relations between politicians and journalists.
