Det finns idag en påtaglig bostadsbrist i Stockholmsområdet och detta samtidigt som regionen förväntas få en kraftig inflyttning de kommande tjugo åren. Krav finns på kommunerna att friställa byggbar mark för ny bostadsbebyggelse. Detta arbete konkritiserar problemet genom en fallstudie av gammal industrimark som snart kommer att friställas för bostads- och verksamhetsbebyggelse. Fallstudien görs på Bergs oljehamn i Nacka kommun. Under det senaste decenniet har nyexploatering av hamnmark skett nationellt i Sverige liktväl som regionalt i Stockholmsregionen. När staden växer uppstår behov av centralt belägen mark för nyexploatering, där hamnarnas tidigare perifera läge nu blivit centralt belägna. Arbetet har undersökt förhållandet mellan typologi och de specifika kvalitéer de för med sig och hjälper till att förstärka på platsen.

In order to reach the generation target and the environmental objectives it is important to increase the awareness of biodiversity and ecosystem services and it?s importance to human welfare and simultaneously highlighting the value of ecosystem services. The value of ecosystem services should be integrated into economic standpoints, political considerations and other decisions in the society. In today?s society there is a problem concerning that the value of ecosystem services are not considered in economic terms, which can result in solutions that are unfavorable for our welfare (Ministry of Environment, 2012).

På senare år har exporten av miljöteknik ökat men i förhållande till den totala andelen varuexport är den fortfarande låg. En av Sveriges största mottagarland är Kina. Kinas miljöproblem förväntas bli värre för varje år och landets ledare har utvecklat en viss insikt på senare år i den växande miljöproblematiken men det finns mycket kvar att arbeta med. Regeringen har tagit fram åtgärder och strategier för att främja svensk miljöteknik bland annat är Kina ett prioriterat land.

I detta examensarbete fokuseras staden, planen och marknaden. Mer konkret behandlas den offentliga planeringens makt i relation till marknadskrafter i den fysiska planeringen. Detta tema formuleras utifrån iakttagelser från samtiden och underbyggs sedan med svensk och internationell forskning. De huvudsakliga frågeställningarna handlar om 1, den offentliga planeringens användning av det kommunala planmonopolet, 2, hur olika aktörer agerar i planprocessen, samt 3, om förhandlingar påverkar utfallet i planprocessen. Undersökningen genomförs som en enfallsstudie av en aktuell planprocess, en planprocess där just relationer mellan offentliga och privata aktörer förväntats. Fallet som undersöks är processen kring omvandlingen av Norra Backa i Borlänge.

This master thesis summarizes contemporary theories on secularization processes in the Western world, and compares these with the example of Sweden, which by many scholars is considered to be the most secularized country in the Western world.I do this by dividing the most influential theorists in five different groups. In each group I explain how the theorists formulate and motivate their positions. These groups are:1) The secularization paradigm, where secularization always accompanies modernization. (Therorists: Steve Bruce and Peter Berger (in the 1960s)2) The paradigm basically accepted, but revised to depend on existential security, rather than modernisation as such. (Pippa Norris and Ronald Inglehart)3) Religion returned in the public sphere.

The purpose of this paper is to make an analysis of the urban Roman water system. I have chosen to work with the system as a general field, not as a case study of a single town. In my opinion such a study would not give a proper and fair view of the subject. Therefore, this paper will discuss the different parts of the system, each one for itself and name examples wherever possible, to give a wide survey of the reality of the Roman water supply system. The aim is to give the reader a clear picture of different solutions used in the time of the early Roman Empire and a good understanding of the subject..

This paper is finishing part of the two-year master programme in Industrial Engineering and Management.Initially there was an inquiry of studying the queue-times that Fläkt Woods uses when they break down internal working orders. These times were assumed to be too generalised and does not apply to the actual value of the queue-times which generates incorrect data and delivery delays. During the work of this paper it has been established that it is not the queue-times that is the biggest problem. The problem is the shop floor control and the lack of manufacturing the right products at the right time. Therefore an analysis of the production planning process was made to bring forward the real problems.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate how a valuation model of a Private Equity firm is interpreted into a management control system within the company's different organizational levels. A case study was developed based on the infra-net company Eltel. The management control systems developed by Malmi and Brown (2008)(1) was used to characterize the control systems at each organizational level. The building blocks of this system are planning, cybernetic, reward/compensation, administrative and culture. Miller and O'Learys (2007)(2) theory of mediating instruments and technology roadmaps was applied to analyze the mediating process of the valuation model.

Edward Said's book Orientalism (1978) is the most important reference point in the post-colonial theory and describes how the West is dominant over the Orient. There is a clear distinction between "us" and "the other" and the purpose of this study is that, from a postcolonial perspective, focusing on Said's theoretical concepts "the other" and "discourse", examining how two foreign-born people with ethnic backgrounds living in the same place, are looking at themselves, at other foreign-born and native Swedes. My questions to answer this are; ?what are the concepts of "the other" and "discourse" and is it possible to use these concepts to examine how foreign-born people are looking at themselves, at other foreign-born and native Swedes in a specific location??, ?who is "the other" in a place where there are almost as many native Swedes as foreign-born??, and ?how do these two foreign-born people with ethnic backgrounds perceive Norrliden as a place and what effect has that place had on their identity?? I have used a post-colonial philosophical ground and a qualitative approach, focusing on two different interviews with two men, living in Norrliden. In Norrliden almost 50% of the inhabitants are foreign-born were both of the interview-persons are feeling safe and secure.

Our study has found that there are different structures and strategies in China and the US. This is due to the different constraints in each country which either allows the union to flourish or cripples its ability to function in a manner that protects workers rights..

This thesis provides a comparison of the old Planning and Building act (PBA) from 1987 with the new PBA, which entered into force in May 2011. The essay consists of a descriptive part that presents the regulation of both laws. The new PBA consists of several differences compared to previous regulation. This thesis will, however, primarily be centred around the regulation regarding building permit appeals and the possibility of building permit, to gain legal force.In the old PBL, there were no regulations that result in a building permit decision could be made effective. Instead, a building permit could, long after the decision had been made, be over-challenged.

Examensarbetet handlar om utveckling av de centrala delarna samt stationsområdet i Vårgårda tätort, Vårgårda kommun. Syftet med arbetet har varit att förtäta med ny bebyggelse i de centrala delarna av tätorten samt att effektivisera ytan och området vid stationen. Arbetet är tänkt att kunna användas som ett idéunderlag av kommunen för deras framtida utveckling av tätorten. Litteraturstudier har gjorts kring ämnet stationssamhällen och en inventering av planområdet har gjorts. Som analysmetoder har jag använt mig av Kevin Lynch, SWOT-analys, en enkel bebyggelseinventering för att skapa riktlinjer för ny bebyggelse samt även besök på orterna Herrljunga och Uddevalla, där jag studerat lösningar på stationsområdena för att se hur dessa orter löst problemen med de nya funktioner som måste irnymmas på ett äldre stationsområde.
