I en arkitektur med tunna klienter körs all programvara centralt från servern, medan med tjocka klienter körs programvaran lokalt på varje enskild klient. I denna uppsats har vi tagit fram teorier om för- och nackdelar med tunna och tjocka klienter och gjort en fallstudie vid Luleå tekniska universitet på en avdelning som nyligen bytt från tjocka till tunna klienter. Utifrån de teorier vi läst och den empiri vi utfört drog vi slutsatsen att tunna klienter oftast passar bättre i arkitekturen än tjocka klienter..

An investigation of the heat impact of laser cutting on the material properties when producing tensile and impact test specimens of different steel types of varying thickness has been performed. The purpose of the thesis project was to provide recommendations regarding how much material that needs to be milled from the laser cut edge before tensile and impact tests. The study has been performed partly by investigating the test specimens by heat camera when the specimens were cut in the laser cutting line and partly by performing hardness tests, investigation by microscopy, and tolerance and roughness measurements and tensile tests of the laser cut material and material produced in the traditional multi operation machine. The results show that the heat affected zone in the thicker materials is greater than previously thought of, and that the currently used recommendation has to be adjusted. The study clearly shows that the thicker the material, the greater the heat affected zone, independently of the steel type, since the thicker material takes longer time to cut.

Denna studie undersöker bemanningsanställdas integration inom lagerverksamhet. Tyngdpunkten ligger på att öka kunskapen kring vilka faktorer som påverkar hur bemanningsanställda integreras i tjänsteköpande företag samt fördjupa förståelsen för vilka möjligheter dessa företag har att öka integrationen på ett kostnadseffektivt sätt. Studien närmar sig problemområdet genom att undersöka hur bemanningsanställda inom lagersektorn upplever de faktorer som påverkat integrationen samt deras åsikter om dessa faktorer. Studiens teoretiska referensram baseras på teorier kring organisering, HRM samt sociala och legala begränsningar. Det empiriska materialet baseras på kvalitativa intervjuer.

Förväntningsgapet är sedan länge ett definierat fenomen som kvarstår trots upprepade försök att minska det. En anledning till att gapet kvarstår påstås vara att revisorer själv har introducerat det. Detta i kombination med att förväntningsgapet troligtvis kommer att fortsätta att existera, medför att det finns anledning att undersöka om revisorer kan dra nytta av det i sitt dagliga arbete.Syftet med den här studien är att utifrån revisorers perspektiv undersöka förväntningsgapet och revisorers möjlighet att med hjälp av gapet utöva inflytande över klienter. Undersökningen är baserad på intervjuer med revisorer från olika byråer.Studiens teoretiska referensram är baserad på antaganden från professionsteori för att beskriva revisorers kunskap, vilket är väsentligt för att undersöka om revisorer har ett kunskapsövertag de kan nyttja för att utöva inflytande. I detta avseende presenteras även antaganden från agent-teorin för att beskriva den informationsasymmetri som kan förekomma.

At Uppsala university scientists have during the last years developed and built wave energy converters. This project is called "Lysekilsprojektet". The development has come so far that they are currently investigating how to gain profit in a mass production. For that reason they want to automate as many steps in the production as possible.The winding of the stator is one part that is being automated using industry robots. How canan ATC in Musoma be developed into a stimulatingand educational park suitable for teaching agroforestrymethods to peasant farmers and other potential users?To answer that a field study was conducted to investigatehow our client Vi Agroforestry Programme (Vi) and thetarget groups of the client can benefit from the site.The thesis begins with a short explanation of thecontext, in which the ATC plays a part followed by amethodology chapter. Next are three chapters presentedwhich introduce the reader to the research conductedbefore starting the proposal, these include: results ofliterature studies, study of precedents, and results of fieldstudy.

?A culture center should be visually welcoming as well as attract a diverse range of visitors with different backgrounds.? This was the client?s request for a new cultural center in Nairobi. The location is in the heart of Nairobi?s industrial area, near several existing buildings that are already in use by the culture organization known as Go Down. I have chosen to keep most of the existing buildings and to use my new building as a complement for the desired program.

Proven togs dels med hjälp av DGT-tekniken och dels med ultrafiltrering för att bestämma koncentrationen av lösta element. During the years 2007 - 2008, approximately 5.5% of all calves born by beef cowsdied and about 8.5% of the calves born by heifers died.

The starting point for the question at issue has been the client's experience of their financial situation the reception and expectations towards the social welfare.In our B-level study we carried out qualitative interviews with social welfare officers to find out how they applied the "child perspective" in granting financial support and to what extent they felt that they succeeded in meeting the need of the client. The conclusion was that there is still room for improvement in this field and particularly a wish to focus more on the child's situation and development. The officers told us that they tried to pay closer attention to the child's situation through asking about the children and by visiting the families at home.They expressed awareness of the importance to a child's well being the financial situation of their family. They also expressed the need for the child to be able to take part in leisure time activities and having an active social life.In this study our research method is based on qualitative interviews.

A baggy paper web has parts that are longer than neighboring parts. One of the assumed reasons for bagginess is thickness variations of the paper. In the roll the thicker streaks then add up to form a ridge. In the ridges the paper is strained and during storage the strain may become permanent. When the paper unreeled it is then baggy.

Problems with the current energy system, which partially relies on non-renewable fuels, are increasingly recognized. Emissions of greenhouse gases from fossil fuels may speed up global warming, which in turn leads to a number of negative consequences. Nuclear energy is risky and relies on consumption of a scarce resource. This leads to a demand of renewable energy that is also economically feasible. The title of the study is: "Stories about helpful conversations - a narrative study of active processes in therapy and treatment." The purpose of this study was to examine clients' stories of what has been helpful to them in therapy / treatment. The study has been made in light of the ongoing discussion in society about the requirements for empirical studies within welfare areas. The choice to make a narrative study comes from the desire to have clients' own stories at the centre of what has been helpful in the therapeutic process. The author has interviewed and talked with four people (clients) who told us about their experiences of therapy / treatment. Narrative research methodology is based on people's life stories.
