This study focuses on international mediation and mediation theory. The aim of the study is to bring into light, a critique on already exsisting mediation theory and the need to oversimplify generalisations and results. This study focuses on a comparison between Richard Holbrooke and Carl Bildt, and their roles? as mediators during the war in Bosnia and Hercegovina 1995. I have deliberatly chosen two very different actors on the same case, to show that traditional belif on why the war ended is oversimplyfied and wrong.This study uses Curran, Sebenius and Watkins paper on mediation as a template in defining how to use the criterias for analyzing a mediator.
Att mäta HR - Ett oviktigt behov? : En studie om att mäta Talent Managements ekonomiska effekter.

Bakgrund: Intresset för Talent Management har växt allt starkare bland svenska företag men det finns lite forskning som stödjer dess lönsamhet. HR och personalavdelningar har länge försökt att mäta ekonomiska effekter av de aktiviteter som är kopplade till företagens mänskliga resurser. Dessa mätningar förväntas ge HR-avdelningar ett större inflytande i företagen och skulle kunna ge Talent Management teoretisk legitimitet.Syfte: Uppsatsens syfte är att kartlägga i vilken utsträckning svenska företag följer upp de ekonomiska effekterna av Talent Management, hur och varför det görs eller inte görs. Syftet är även att, om de ekonomiska effekterna följs upp, undersöka om företagen kopplar dessa effekter till lönsamhet.Metod: För att besvara studiens syfte har ett abduktivt angreppssätt med en kvantitativ enkätundersökning valts som grund för uppsatsen. Enkäten skickades ut till Sveriges hundra största företag och har följts upp av kvalitativa intervjuer för att skapa en djupare förståelse för enkätresultaten.Resultat och slutsatser: Majoriteten av Sveriges hundra största företag mäter inte effekterna av Talent Management, vilket överensstämmer med tidigare studier inom området.
Implementation av ett interface till Emotiv Epoc
The eld of Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) concerns linking together an external device with the brain of a human or an animal. By doing this the conventional use of a mouse or keyboard can be circumvented, which can greatly benefit people with different types of diseases that cause paralysis or other loss of motor control, such as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). A BCI can also be used for cognitive training of either healthy or mentally impaired subjects to increase cognitive capabilities.In this thesis an implementation of an interface is made against such a device, the Emotiv EPOC Headset. The result is meant to be a stable basis for further study using the device. An in-depth study of the history of EEG and its current use in clinical work and research in the topics of BCI as well as Human-computer interaction (HCI) is presented.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the representation of race, social class and gender in the 2013 video game Grand Theft Auto V. Postcolonial theory, including terms such as cultural hegemony, whiteness and Michel Foucaults definition of power, has served as the basis for the analysis. The postcolonial theory has been combined with class theory and gender theory for an intersectional analysis. Semiotic analysis has been used as the method in the thesis, and a total of nine story missions ? three for each protagonist in the game ? have constituted the material.

The common asylum and migration policy of the European Union is a struggle between a strong belief in the protection of human rights and the need of strong and secured borders. This paper highlights the dilemma that occurs in the common asylum and migration policy of the European Union. What happens when the union have to choose between liberal standards with high priorities to human rights and a realistic focus on security? The aim is to study the asylum policy presented in the Stockholm Program, and thereafter evaluate what kind of character the union has itself. By an ideal type analysis of the Stockholm program from 2009, the common asylum policy is divided into either liberal or realistic ideas.

When it comes to investigating the motives behind activism, the members of political study have a lot to say. I aimed to critiqually rewiev this in my thesis. I asked the question ?What do the actor themselves claim lay behin their decision to become motivated?? To highlight this complex dilemma, I sought to discuss new social movement theory by comparing it to reality. This includes a literate examination on contemporary political science approaches, and a study of two organisations in the south of Sweden, choosen not to despise any excisting theory, but to give it a sense of reality.
Stuxnet-attacken mot Iran : Strukturell realism i informationsrevolutionens tidsålder
This study aims to explain the Stuxnet-attack against Iran in 2009-2010 by using the IR-theory of structural realism. By doing so the theory also faces the challenge of the impact of the information revolution on security and international relations. The structural realism that is at hand is that of Kenneth Waltz and his Theory of International Politics from 1979.The study reaches the conclusion that Waltzs focus on the structure of the international system and the distribution of capabilities applies well to the case of Stuxnet as a cyber attack. The creators of the sophisticated Stuxnet, USA and Israel, also indicates that when it comes to this certain aspect of the information revolution and IR, states seem to still be the main actor. Finally the character of one of the major features of the Stuxnet-attack; the internet, is shown to have an anarchic structure that fits well as an extension of the realist view of the international system..
Den svenska suveräniteten - finns den? : två teoretiska perspektiv på debatten i fallet med de två avvisade egyptierna.
Our aim with this paper is to study the debate concerning the refusal of entry of the two Egyptians and the involvement of USA, to see if the Swedish sovereignty has been compromised. We have chosen two theories, realism and radicalism, to read if opinions can be identified of supporting one of them. The empiricism we selected are from debate articles in the big news papers Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet and Expressen. We also studied the debate in the Riksdag . The method we used was qualitative and is called analysis of content.The result we could conclude was that most of the debaters are disappointed with how the government handled the whole situation, but still believes that it made the decision on itself.
Är en annan värld möjlig? - En studie från urban- till world-bias
The purpose of this thesis is to explain one aspect of how and why the development in the third world is lagging behind. The precondition is that development through an agricultural revolution is necessary and that all countries benefit from trading. But these two conditions are not met today. By using the urban-bias and the world system theory I have analysed how the situation appears to be according to the precondition. It appears that both the urban-bias and the world system theory are essential to understand how and why the situation in third world still has not reached the same development phase as most other countries.
Personalekonomiska nyckeltal - Nyckeln till kommunikation och lärande
Insikten om att människor och deras kunskaper utgör företags viktigaste resurser är inte ny. Trots det betraktas oftast investeringar i människor som en kostnad och inte en investering för framtiden. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur personalekonomiska nyckeltal kan användas för att kommunicera värdet av den mänskliga resursen och människans bidrag till ett värdeskapande i företag. Studien avser även att generera en teoriutveckling där teorier av bland andra Ackoff (1974) och Nonaka (1994) används och utvecklas med hjälp av den insamlade empiriska kunskapen från studien. I teoriutvecklingen knyts empiri och teorier om organisatoriskt lärande och personalekonomiska nyckeltal samman.Studien utgår från ett ?Human Resource-perspektiv?, och i problemformuleringen ställs frågor kring HR-avdelningens (HR:s) roll och på vilket sätt nyckeltal kan fungera som kommunikationsverktyg mellan HR och ledningen.
Human resource management inom parkförvaltning
Syfte: I denna studie vill jag undersöka hur rekryteringsprocesser, gruppdynamik och motivationsfrågor behandlas inom kommunal och privat parkförvaltning. Dessa frågor behandlas inom ramen för Human resource management, som handlar om att ta till vara på målen för organisationer och medarbetares behov att utvecklas på jobbet. Med en
ämnesinriktad litteratur och en kvalitativ intervjuteknik vill jag undersöka de frågor som aktualiseras av dem som arbetar inom kommunal regi och i privat företagande. Frågorna delades upp i ämnesområdena; organisation, rekrytering, medarbetare, motivation och gruppdynamik.
Metod: Intervjuerna studerades ingående och vid upprepade tillfällen för att få en uppfattning om var kärnan i informationen som informanterna delgivit mig låg. Därefter analyserades texterna och resultaten delades in i teman; synen på organisation och rekrytering/motivation
och karriärmöjligheter och gruppdynamik på arbetsplats.
Slutsats: Det visade sig att ledarna till stor del litar på medarbetarnas förmågor att hitta motivation och att arbeta tillsammans i grupper.
