Urban planning is not only a matter of architectural trends; it is first and foremost political. This thesis seeks to understand the links between political ideas and visions for the city and the physical structure of the city. The study aims to construct a model to help understand these links, a helpful tool in analysing a city, focusing on the one hand at the physical structure of what I call "The City as a Welfare Provider" and on the other hand at "The City as a Growth Engine". It also sets out to test this model in an empirical study of Stockholm and the soon-to-be built district of Norra Station in the same city.The analysis shows that Stockholm has ambitions to be a welfare provider to its citizens, but have also adopted to a discourse of interurban competition which stresses the importance for the city to enhance economical growth. What is interesting is that the physical structures promoted in the planning documents of Stockholm are nearly exclusively those associated with the model of "The City as a Growth Engine"..

The aim of this study is to analyze how intercommunication between offenders are presented with artefacts during the planning and implementation of a robbery in a cash depot in Stockholm. The methodological approach is based on empiricism from police investigation protocols, which leads this study to a case study. The ambition is to analyze the empirical material from a sociocultural perspective. The results shows that the offenders use artefacts to plan the crime with artefacts within an internal intercommunication between the offenders. After the planning artefacts such as a helicopter, explosive material, telephones, saws and ladders have been used in an intercommunication to implement the robbery which leads to an analysis that hierarchy depends on the role of the artefacts, only when technical artefacts are included in the term of hierarchy..

What is a city? What do we mean when we describe something as urban? In what way should we build the city so that we can achieve a good environment for our own generation and for generations to come? These questions are constantly of interest and they are frequently discussed. It is also important to have considered these questions when working with city-planning. This essay contains a description of and reflections about the recurrent questions in today?s debate about the city and city-planning.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the innovation process of companies, and to analyse how important success factors and obstacles are in their innovation process.Method: The investigation strategy used for this essay was to interview companies that work with innovations. The essay has a qualitative approach. Both primary ? in the form of interviews - and secondary data ? literature found in books, scientific articles and internet - have been used to achieve our results.Results: The result of this essay is: there is not just one inovation process that is applicable to all companies. On the other hand, there are some guidelines that could be followed in the process.

Under de senaste decennierna har det svenska samhället genomgått stora förändringar där urbaniserings- och globaliseringsprocesser har lett till en ökad inflyttning till storstäderna, därmed har ett ökat krav ställts på städerna och dess stadsdelar. I storstadsområdena finns idag en stor variation av hushåll och i olika sammanhang har ett antal bostadsområden i storstadsregionerna pekats ut som socioekonomiskt utsatta. De flesta av dessa tillkom under det så kallade miljonprogrammet under åren 1965-1975 och har idag en mycket varierad befolkningssammansättning där en stor del av invånarna exempelvis är av utländsk bakgrund. Bebyggelsen från miljonprogramsåren visar på dåtidens bostadspolitiska målsättningar och välfärdssamhällets ambitioner, en vision om det nya samhället och den moderna människan. Denna vision har idag till stor del glömts bort och sedan de första miljonprogramsområdena påbörjades har en debatt kring dessa områden blossat upp i massmedia.

The result of this work is a plan for the development of an 1128 m2 elderly raised garden. The purpose has been to create an overall plan covering the long-term development of the garden. The work process has covered a description of the garden of today, review of requirements, analysis of the garden sections, design of a new plan as well as starting the construction of the new garden. The plan covers a time period of a couple of years to create the new garden since the construction work is carried out during spare time with small resources available. The planning must contain review of functions such as protection from insight, eating area and compost area. Also the esthetic expression must be planned. Colors, shapes, choice of material and plants together make up the esthetic expression. It is recommended to include anything you wish to create in the garden. In a raised garden one has to overcome the step to remove trees and shrubs and think different.

Democratic equality entails that all individuals are equal and therefore they should be included in the process of making the decisions. How can participation be defined and does it mean that having the possibility to participate means that people can influence the process of making the decisions in polity process?This paper focuses on participation and influence in polity and examine the relationship between having the possibility to participate and having the possibility to actually influence polity process on more local level. Therefore I have been examining the citizens? participation and influence in Helsingborg which is my case study.

Syftet med examensarbetet är att undersöka vad som karaktäriserar planeringen av det offentliga rummet i den samtida svenska staden, samt hur dagens utformning av det offentliga rummet påverkar dess användning. De förändringar som många svenska städer genomgått sedan 1970- talet återspeglas idag på olika sätt i stadsmiljön. Göteborg är en av de städer där förändringar syns tydligt exempelvis i projekt som Norra älvstranden och satsningar på Evenemangsstråket. Dessa satsningar syftar till att skapa nya vägar mot tillväxt för en stad som tidigare levt mycket på industrinäringen. Den globaliserade värld som vi idag är en del av ställer nya krav på städer och platser som konkurrensmedel. Hur resonerar egentligen politiker och planerare, hamnar de offentliga miljöerna på undantaget? Resultatet visar att det finns tendenser till detta men att det också finns ett stort utrymme för att de offentliga rummen kan komma att får en större betydelse i framtidens stad som ett medel för att attrahera nya invånare, turism och företagsetableringar.

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the role of regional development planning concerning a regional perspective of green structure and to reflect on its future role. The target group of the study is foremost practitioners but also students of regional planning and development. Three questions are examined. 1) What view concerning green structure has the regional planning body of Stockholm County Council (RTK) communicated through the years? 2) Has this view contributed to generating a common understanding concerning green structure among the actors in the county? 3) Has this common understanding been referred to by actors in discussions concerning how this green structure should develop? The empirical material consists of documents from rtk, the County Administrative Board, the municipalities of the county, a network of ngo:s, as well as interviews with representatives from the above mentioned organizations.

Syftet med detta kandidatarbete är att studera begreppen offentlighet och det offentliga rummet. Med hjälp av inventering på plats samt litteraturstudier analyseras en offentlig plats, Amiralitetsparken i Karlskrona. En utvärdering av platsens kvalitéer och brister följs därefter av ett förslag till omgestaltning av parken, som nyligen varit föremål för en arkitekttävling. Med hjälp av texter av Jürgen Habermas och Hannah Arendt förs inledningsvis en diskussion kring begreppet offentlighet och varför det offentliga rummet är så viktigt. Därefter beskrivs det spänningsfält mellan auktoritet och tillgänglighet för allmänheten som präglar många offentliga platser, däribland Amiralitetsparken i Karlskrona. Vidare beskrivs och jämförs några nyanlagda parker i Sverige och ett försök görs att hitta typiska drag i dessa samtida parker. Träden i parken har inventerats med hjälp av muntliga anteckningar,det vill säga ljudinspelningar, som gjorts på plats.

As the European Landscape Convention is brought into action, planning in Sweden has got to become increasingly considerate of the landscape and its character. To render this possible, a basic requirement is that we find a functional method for analysis. The Landscape is a synthesis of the interplay between place and man. It is made up of our physical environment and shows the result of our actions throughout history. Our surroundings affect us in many ways, financially as well as emotionally. This is why an analysis of the landscape has to be inclusive of many types of information. I have performed a landscape analysis, according to the British Landscape Character Assessment-method, in Svedala kommun.

Biogas is an expanding sector within the broad field of agriculture and animal production. Small-scale biogas offers local combined power and heating production and the substrate is transformed into high-quality biological fertilizer. This bachelor thesis focuses on a pig farm in south-western Sweden, where biogas is produced from pig manure, evaluates and suggests ways of optimizing the process and investigates whether investing in an upgrading plant would be a feasible and more cost-efficient option. The results show that the biogas plant is working well, although the production differs from the original plans. This shows in turn that planning and examining the basic conditions before making the investment is of great importance, as well as monitoring and keeping detailed statistics of the running process.

The development of the livesof young people who have been placed in care facilities is dependent ontherapeutic relationships, professional separations, continuing follow-ups andan even transition from control to autonomy. The aim of this study was toexamine the steering mechanisms behind the execution and planning of aftercareat a youth facility for care or residence. The aim was further defined throughthe specification of the following questions: 1. How are the concepts ofresocialisation and aftercare define and delimit? 2.
