The management of information is one of the key aspects within a successful andefficient product development process, particularly regarding complex products.Scania CV AB is at the moment developing a new IT-system, OAS, which aims tomanage the company?s product data. With this as a background, the purpose of thismaster thesis is to identify the cross-functional user needs within Scania?s organizationconcerning product data and the management around it.To fulfill the purpose, an empirical study consisting of 40 personal interviews with 50representatives from different functions within Scania?s organization was carriedthrough. The empirical data was then analyzed focusing on identifying thecross-functional needs and issues.The study points out that there is a big potential regarding improvement among themanagement of product data.

To be allowed to sell Z-suspended vehicles with dipped beam Xenon or LED lighting, Scania have to develop automatic headlight level control. This master?s thesis aims to be the foundation to that development.The thesis consists of several parts; a market analysis of how competitors to Scania and the general vehicle industry solve this problem; several available principles for detecting the amount of control needed; the construction of a test station for sensors, a control unit and components connected controlled by the control unit; a further theoretical and practical development of one principle ? one rotational sensor connected between the chassis and the back drive axis; a state flow model programmed in Simulink that produces the control signal for the headlight leveling from the sensor input.Lastly the thesis gives some recommendations to the further development and implementation of automatic headlight level control on Scania vehicles..

Early Swedish films from the 1910?s and 1920?s are not only an important part of Sweden?s cultural heritage, but also an important part of the international film heritage. This period is often refereed to as the golden age of Swedish film history. Despite this fact, the possibility to watch Swedish films from this period is very small and the main purpose of this thesis is to examine why the availability of these films has such low priority in the Swedish film policy and at the Swedish Film Institute. With the use of policy analysis, I study governmental policies and policies from the Swedish Film Institute for early Swedish films and seek to identify the policy problem and its different parts.

Grus i maskineriet : En fallstudie av lågkonjunkturens påverkan på Scania

Vårt syfte med denna uppsats är att skapa förståelse dels för hur lågkonjunkturen påverkar ledarskapet och dels för vilka organisatoriska förändringar som lågkonjunkturen har bidragit till för ett företag i ekonomisk nedgång.Vi har använt oss utav en kvalitativ undersökningsstrategi och gjort en fallstudie av Scania. Vi har utfört semi-strukturerade intervjuer med hjälp utav en intervjuguide. Vi har haft en hermeneutisk tolkningsansats där vi har haft som mål att skapa förståelse för hur ledarskap påverkas av lågkonjunkturen.                  Vi har presenterat vår empiri i två kapitel. I kapitel IV tas empirin upp i form av ett imaginärt personalmöte och i det efterföljande kapitlet analyseras empirin med hjälp av vår teoretiska referensram.      Scanias organisation har påverkats i hög grad av lågkonjunkturen exempelvis har antalet skift reducerats och den totala arbetstiden har minskat. Inom Scania satsas det nu väldigt mycket på utbildning och kompetensutveckling.

Scanias Produktionssystem - inte bara för produktion : En implementering av Scanias Produktionssystem inom teknikorganisationen vid Scania Chassi

This report is the result of a master thesis at Linköping University - Institute of Technology and Uppsala University at the request of the chassi workshop at Scania CV AB in Södertälje. Since the beginning of the 90's, Scania CV AB has had a close cooperation with Toyota from which, among other things, the Scania Production System (SPS) has evolved. SPS explains Scanias' values, principles and priorities. The Technician department (MST) at Scania Chassi in Södertälje believes that SPS can streamline the technicians work and help them become a more homogeneous group. The purpose of this master thesis is to initiate an implementation of SPS within MST through two pilot projects involving both the product and process technicians. The SPS principle Normal Situation - Standardised working method was required to be implemented within one work task each for the two groups of technicians with special attention on the three subprinciples Standardisation, Takt and Balanced flow. The master thesis fulfilled its purpose as the two pilot projects initiated the implementation of SPS within MST and the three sub-principles Standardisation, Takt and Balanced flow were implemented within the two chosen work tasks.

This study deals with the concept of ?integration?. Starting from the concept of reality as socially and linguistically constructed, it is an attempt to see how lingual constructions and perceptions affect the official structures of society and vice versa. The main purpose is to compare the different meanings integration has in a sociological context and in a political one. Further, the purpose is to see how the relationship between the sociological and political concepts affects the integrational work in the Swedish County Administrative Boards, and which consequences these effects might have.

Utvärderingsmodell för framtidens boxflöden på Scania i Oskarshamn

I detta examensarbete behandlas flöden av material hos Scania CV AB i Oskarshamn, där Scanias lastbilshytter tillverkas. I Oskarshamn finns flera verkstäder där hytter byggs upp stegvis, den sista verkstaden är en monteringsverkstad. I monteringsverkstaden sker all produktion på taktade monteringslinor vilka försörjs med material. Detta examensarbete innefattar enbart arbetet i monteringsverkstaden. I arbetet behandlas flödet av boxar, vilket är lådor som används som lastbärare i produktionen, från att materialet kommit in i monterings-verkstaden tills det står vid monteringslinan.Scania har som mål att säkra en högre produktionstakt inom de närmaste åren.

Standardisering av grafisk profil och utvecklingsprocess för webbapplikationer på Scania InfoMate

Scania InfoMate develops web applications that support truck distributors and workshops with the necessary tools for an effective maintenance process. However, the end-users of these applications are faced with as many different graphical interfaces as there are applications. As a consequence, important effects of recognition are lost, developers spend unnecessary time designing new solutions for each application and Scania InfoMate does not present a homogeneous brand image towards its customers.Therefore the aim of this study is to give a suggestion of how a standardized graphical interface for web applications at Scania InfoMate should be designed. The given suggestion should come from thorough investigation of both end-user needs and recent research within the area of usability. In addition to a standardized interface this study also aims to deliver guidelines that support future web application development at Scania InfoMate.Through a combination of methods, mainly heuristic evaluation and user interviews, an elaborate description of usability and consistency problems in a defined web application portfolio is produced.

WERA - ny modell för riskbedömning vid Scania CV AB

Bakgrund och mål: I dagsläget har Scania inget vedertaget samlat tillvägagångssätt för att, i den dagliga verksamheten, arbeta med riskbedömning av arbetsmiljöfaktorer. Scania har köpt ett riskhanteringssystem för bedömning av fysiska arbetsmiljörisker och vill undersöka om metoden är tillämpbar inom företaget. Modellen heter SARA- Samlad Riskbedömningar Arbetsplatser. Syftet med examensarbetet var att utvärdera Scanias möjligheter att arbeta kontinuerligt och systematiskt med riskanalyser av arbetsmiljöfaktorer enligt den metod som SARA beskriver och definierar och utveckla en anpassad version av SARA, utformad för Scanias förutsättningar. Den Scania-anpassade versionen av SARA fick den preliminära titeln WERA - Work Enivronment Risk Assessment.

The investigation was conducted by preparing a number of differentscenarios that formed the basis for a discussion of what these different scenarioswould mean for different parts of Scania?s business.

Villkor under garantitid i entreprenadförsäkring, en jämförande studie.

In Sweden there is no legal regulation for the obligations and responsibilities between the contracting parties within the construction, civil engineering and installation sector. To clarify uncertainties regarding the liability, actors from theses sectors have agreed upon a voluntary regulation, called the General Conditions of Contract.When insurance companies want to enter the Swedish construction insurance market, they face a regulatory framework that not only regulates the construction market, it also imposes requirements on terms and conditions that must be included in the construction insurance. These terms are perceived as ambiguities and create difficulties and inhibit the ability for these insurance companies to offer competitive insurances. One of the terms that create these difficulties is the guarantee period, which is period of time starting from handing over the construction project to the employer, during this period the contractor still has the responsibility for the construction project. The guarantee period regulated by the General Condition of Contracts differs from the international use of the term both in length and in content.
