People?s perceptions about health are very complex. In today?s society there is a moral value in being healthy, and a healthy person is seen as a person with strong willpower and self-discipline. But people also tend to go against the norm in the society to experience autonomy and therefore choses to live unhealthy.

Vårt syfte är att förklara och förstå hur starkt en enda människas vilja och mod kan vara. Uppsatsen handlar om hennes liv och hennes syn på livet från barndomen till vuxenlivet.

The purpose of this essay is to examine what can be considered as obscene in the work of JoelPeter Witkin and Marc Quinn, what the similarities and differences are. The essay concerns thehuman body, the norms around it and the old vision of the ideal body. To get closer to myquestion I’ve been examine the meaning of anti-ideal, what it means and what kind of history ithas. The works I’ve been using to reach to my purpose are Marc Quinn’s sculpture Alison Lapper(2005) and Joel Peter Witkin’s photography Abundance (1997). Both of the works are taking theposition that use to belong to the classical beauty.

Denna studie undersöker hur jämställdheten ser ut under SVTs prime-time-sändningar utifrån könsfördelning, ålder och form av deltagande hos de medverkande personerna framför kameran, samt hur fördelningen ser ut i förhållande till de programkategorier SVT har satt. Med prime-time-sändningar menas den tid på dagen då tv-publiken är som allra störst. Syftet med uppsatsen är att med en kvantitativ innehållsanalys få reda på hur könsrepresentationen ser ut utifrån nämnda faktorer och diskutera sambandet mellan resultaten och värden kopplade till de sociala könsrollerna samt huruvida prime-time har en påverkan på innehållet i programmen.De teoretiska ramarna utgörs främst av Yvonne Hirdmans tankar kring genussystemet som dels innefattar två logiker; mannen som norm samt isärhållandets logik och dels genuskontraktet som beskriver överenskommelsen om sociala beteenden och logikernas fortsatta spridning från en generation till nästa. Detta tillsammans med Halls teorier om representation och stereotyper samt medielogiken appliceras i diskussionen kring analysens resultat.Resultaten visar att alla program utom ett representeras av en majoritet män, i de flesta fall stark majoritet. Män har också en starkare representation inom alla åldersgrupper till skillnad från kvinnor där både de yngre och äldre generationerna är väldigt svagt representerade.

This thesis comprises a translation from English to Swedish followed by a commentary. The source text (ST) of the translation consists of the second chapter of Made in America (1998), a popularised language history by Bill Bryson. The commentary includes an analysis of the ST and the target text (TT), as well as a discussion of the translation process as a whole, and of the translation strategies applied in order to solve the translation problems of the ST. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on Toury?s notion of norms (1995), from which the following principle for translating is conceived: to transfer the ST information as faithfully as possible but with the modifications necessary to accommodate the source language competence level of the TT readers, which is estimated to be relatively low.

By describing and analyzing a self made composition for the Swedish folk music instrument ?nyckelharpa? with emphasis on playing techique, dissonance treatment and interpretation questions are reflected upon regarding how dissonances and andvanced harmonical progressions are treated on a limited instrument such as ?nyckelharpa?. By emphasizing the traditional norm connected to the interpretation and instrumentation of traditional Swedish folk music (a traditon in which the nyckelharpa is included) and comparing the te- chniques connected to it with the recent composed material in a western classical context the possibilities and limitations in composition and interpretation are further investigated. Thus the musical experience and the documentation of the process of composing a concert for nyckelharpa provides a knowledge base for reflective analysis upon questions regarding interpretation, composition and dissonance treatment. This thesis also provides a brief summary of traditional playing and bowing technique as well as a short historical description of the Swedish traditional instrument ?nyckelharpa?..

Occupational stress and the use of alcohol to reduce stress are both separately common in our society. A few researchers have combined the two factors.The aim of this essay was to obtain an increased understanding of how male and female managers estimate their alcohol habits in relation to their occupational stress.We have interviewed nine managers who work at a social services department in Scania. Our main theories were the theory of psychosocial work environment of Lazarus, Karaseks demand/control model, epidemiology- and cultural perspective.Our results were;· Psychosocial work environment contributes to if the interviewed people experienced stress at work.· The grade of control has great influence if the interviewed people experience stress.· There weren't any correlation between stress and increased consumption of alcohol..

This thesis deals with cross-country ski clothing for non-competitive women. Women in this category look for different clothing features in comfort and aesthetics than male top athletes, for whom cross-country skiwear today often seems to be designed. In this thesis the demands of these women have been mapped out by an interview with a reference group of users. The ergonomics of exercising in the winter outdoors are naturally a base for the collection. The collection consists of three functional layers of garments.

Mot bakgrund av den svenska läroplanens riktlinjer om att ingen i skolan ska utsättas för diskriminering, är syftet med denna uppsats att utföra en kritisk diskursanalys av lärarhandledningsmaterialet Duckface/Stonface utifrån ett intersektionellt perspektiv. Det intersektionella perspektivet syftar till att synliggöra specifika situationer av förtryck som skapas i skärningspunkter av maktrelationer baserade på exempelvis klass, kön, etnicitet och sexualitet. Som metod används kritisk diskursanalys utifrån Faircloughs tredimensionella analysmodell. Resultatet visar bland annat att det i materialet finns en social praktik där binära könsidentiteter är norm samt att tjejer och killar är olika. Materialet genomsyras också av en vithetsnorm.

Sharia or western equality?womenin Egyptian legislationThe Islamic law (Sharia) in most of the countries in Middle East and North Africa has been the basis for modern laws which regulate issues such as marriage, divorce and inheritance. These laws (personal status law or family law) have been debated frequently in the last decades.There are those who consider personal status law (PSL) as unjust, male-biased and discriminating against women especially in the issue of divorce. On the other hand there are voices who call to go back to the Sharia, because muslims has to follow the islamic law and its values, they are universal as they claim. In this essay I try to enlighten these two points of view which can be found in the debate in Egypt.

My work is based on a text analysis of media production of the female offender. I found it interesting how women were presented as victims rather than perpetrators. The media have in recent years grown tremendously and this also impacts on people and what is important. The notion of how a woman should be and how a female offender should be is extreme. The material for my work is articles found on the Internet in daily newspapers websites.

AbstractThe aim of my study has been to investigate which expectations students at The Hotel and Restaurant Programme have for their futue working life and labour market. I want to investigate if these expectations are important factors that female dominance is large within the meal service sector. I have chosen to do qualitative interviews to discover these expectations.Some explanations that the respondent give for the gender differences within the restaurant and meal service sectors are the old tradition of male and female work. Furthermore the possibility of becoming well known within the market and the possibility for personal development in this market are described as important factors.The answers to my questions show that all respondents are positive to future work markets; also they all want to work within the restaurant sector and not in the meal service sector. The reasons for their choice cannot give a complete explanation to why female dominance is so big within the meal service sector.Keywords: Gender, status and celebrity-hood..

The object of the essay was to investigate the argumentation in the bill, the comments from unions and the authorities, among others and the motions concerning the bill. To analysis this argumentation I have been using feminist theory, specifically Carole Lee Bacchis ?What?s the problem?-aproach. I also used Maud Eduards and Diane Sainsbury to complete my theory. They describe men as the norm of the society and women as deviant.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka förekomsten av mobbning och sexuella trakasserier vid ett industriföretag. 330 kollektivanställda och tjänstemän vid Företaget besvarade en enkät där de ombads ange i vilken utsträckning de utsatts för kränkande beteenden samt uppge vilken arbetsrelation de hade till de som utsatt dem för handlingarna. Resultaten påvisade samband mellan förekomsten av mobbning och sexuella trakasserier. Kön, ålder och anställningsform hade betydelse för i vilken utsträckning sexuella trakasserier upplevdes. Anställningsform hade även betydelse för vem som angavs som förövare av kränkningarna.

I vår studie har vi undersökt samhällslärares attityder och deras tankar kring ämnet inom de teoretiska och de praktiska programmen på gymnasiet. Syftet med undersökningen är att se hur lärares attityder till samhällskunskapen som ett kärnämne påverkar deras undervisning och likvärdigheten i kursen på de olika programmen. Det är en fenomenografisk studie av lärares attityder. Vi har grundat vår analys på intervjuer, transkriberingen av dessa och kategorisering av lärarnas attityder. Vi kan konstatera att lärarnas attityder gentemot programmen påverkar likvärdigheten i Samhällskunskap A, bland annat för att eleverna på de teoretiska programmen ses som norm.
