AimThe aim of the study was to develop a method for the survey of play movement demands and temporal patterns in order to enable a descriptive study of the defensive players in American Football. The overall aim was to  improve the understanding of how American Football is played to create opportunities for enhancement of current or developing new training methods to better suit football.MethodFifty plays from a Division 3 college football game on video from 2005 was divided into sequences of action for one player each from the defensive line, linebackers and defensive backs and analyzed with the video analyzing software cSwing. Every players sequence of action was recorded in a spreadsheet and noted on a scaled football field where distances were measured and together with time stamps from cSwing velocity was calculated.ResultsUsing this method it was possible to describe the play movement demands and temporal patterns which was the main task of the study. The defensive end worked on an average 4.61 seconds per play, the distance was 12.4 meters and average speed 2.5 m×s-1. The linebacker worked on an average 4.35 s per play, 13.7 m and at a mean speed of 3.0 m×s-1.

A residence that is accessible creates equal conditions for everyone.In this report the accessibility of newly built blocks of flats in Uddevalla city from 1990 until today are interpreted. One project that is yet to be built is interpreted and compared with the already existing projects. The apartments of seven projects have been analyzed according to today?s regulations of accessibility.

Samordnad varudistribution i Växjö kommun : En studie om returflödet av SRS-backar

Växjö kommuns mål är att minska sin miljöpåverkan från fossila bränslen och ett steg i detta är den samordnade varudistributionen. Rapportens fokus är inriktat på returhanteringen av SRS-backar som ingår i den samordnade varudistributionen. Rapporten redogör för hur processen för returhanteringen av SRS-backar ser ut vid en samordnad varudistribution i Växjö kommun. Underlag för en processkartläggning insamlades genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer och kartläggningen genomfördes i analysen. I en samordnad varudistribution där flera olika aktörer ingår och vill få sin röster hörda uppstår det problem. Rapporten ämnar utöver att beskriva processens utseende, även att redogöra för dessa problem. Problemen som upplevs i nuläget för respektive aktör är säkerhetsrisker på grund av kvarlämnade SRS-backar på de kommunala enheternas lastkajar enligt logistikhandläggaren vid Växjö kommun, extra transport samt lagerhållningskostnader för Växjö Partiaffär, identifikationssvårigheter för Scandinavian Supply Chain.

Wood pellets are an upgraded product of residuals from several wood processing industries, for example saw mills and pulp industries. The pellets are produced by pressing the milled and dried sawdust to cylindrical units with a higher density than the initial raw material. Pellets have great benefits compared to the raw material: high energy per volume, good transport and storage properties and homogeneity. Several parameters collaborate in the whole process, which makes it complex. Wood is a heterogeneous material, chemically and structurally dependent on wood parts, habitat and storage procedures.

The vegetation?s impact on erosion control is widely explored, even though research? results are scattered where it suggests a both positive and negative relationship between roots and erosion tendency. Research has measured the roots? impact on erosion by many different methods, hence the aim of this study is to offer a clearance of what factors play an important role in the choice of appropriate species controlling river bank erosion. I have therefore studied 17 articles concerning vegetation and erosion control, which were found in different databases such as: Web of Knowledge, Biological Sciences, Academic Search Elite and Google Scholar.

The Arctic region is rich in natural resources such as oil, gas, minerals and fish. Climate change causes the Arctic ice melt, making resource extraction possible as well as opening up new transport routes through the Northwest Passage and the Northeast Passage. This has led to competition and cross-border strife among the Arctic States. The two largest states in the Arctic are Russia and Canada, which are also members of the Arctic Council. Russia and Canada are at the moment involved in several disputes regarding the Arctic territory where the ownership of the North Pole is one example.

The aim of this study is to elucidate the process in which psychology was separated from philosophy and established itself as a distinct academic discipline in Sweden. I argue that the concept of will, as well as the concepts of thinking and emotion, have a lot to tell us about the rise of academic psychology in Sweden. This is done through an analysis of psychology textbooks, encyclopaedia-articles and academic texts on the themes will and psychology, from around 1800 till 1950.Prior to the establishment of the first chair of psychology in Uppsala 1948, the discipline was above all a part of the philosophical discipline. For psychology to become a science of its own, it was crucial to obtain a position among the empirical sciences. It thus had to distance itself from philosophy, and in particular from metaphysics.

Andelen tjejer på Fordons- och transportprogrammet har mer än fördubblats under en tioårs period. Nyfikenhet väcktes över vad det är som gör att tjejer väljer ett gymnasieprogram med en manlig könsstämpel och hur de upplever sitt utbildningsval i förhållande till traditionella könsnormer. Den här studien syftar till att beskriva och analysera tjejers val till det manligt dominerade Fordons- och transportprogrammet. Som undersökningsmetod har vi använt oss av en kvalitativ metod där åtta tjejer på Fordons- och transportprogrammet mot inriktningen transport i årskurs 2 har intervjuats. För att analysera vårt empiriska material har begreppen modellinlärning, habitus, handlingshorisont, realistisk, normer och attityder tillämpats som teoretisk utgångspunkt.

De ökade marknadskraven på miljöarbetet har gjort att alltfler företag börjat arbeta aktivt med miljön och att införa miljöledningssystem. Det är framför allt småföretag som drabbas av dessa krav som kommer främst från företagens intressenter. Att införa ett miljöledningssystem är inte kostnadsfritt, anses vara krångligt och är förknippat med osäkerhet kring effekterna. Trycket på miljöcertifiering/-registrering har gjort det nödvändigt för de flesta företag att agera för att överhuvudtaget överleva. Syftet med vår uppsats var att undersöka orsaken till varför småföretag inför miljöarbete med miljöledningssystem samt vilka effekter detta ger företagen, främst effekter av ekonomisk karaktär.

Känslighets- och osäkerhetsanalys av parametrar och indata i dagvatten- och recipientmodellen StormTac

Three methods of sensitivity and unceartainty analysis have been applied to the operative stormwater- and recipient model StormTac. The study area is the watershed of lake Flaten in the municipality Salem. StormTac?s submodels for stormwater, pollutant transport and the recipient are cosidired. In the sensitivity assessment, the model parametres and inputs were varied one at a time by a constant percentage according to the ?one at a time? (OAAT) method and the response of the outputs were calculated.

Ternary codes for unequal error protection is a part of a communication system where different parts of the information to be transmitted can receive different amount of error protection. There are a lot of applications where the channel conditions fluctuate so that reliable or acceptable communication can not be guaranteed. Regardless whether the fluctuations of the channel are intentional or not the idea is to let the coderate decrease so that the error correcting capability can increase for the part of the information to be more protected. By using the support, the nonzero positions of the ternary code, a new binary code can be extracted with properties different from the ternary code in the sense of cardinality and minimum Hamming distance. When the channel conditions are good the receiver decodes the message using ternary decisions and receives all information included in the codeword.

Köpcentret Emporia och transporterna: ett exempel på hållbar stadsutveckling?

Studien behandlar s.k. externa köpcentra och dess miljöeffekter. Fallstudien undersöker effekter av etableringen av köpcentret Emporia i Malmö ur ett transportperspektiv. Detta sker genom en kartläggning av färdmedlen till Emporia, kombinerat med beräkning av vilka koldioxidutsläpp personbilsandelarna kan generera. Denna beräkning syftar till att visa på statistiska tendenser i transportflödet och utsläppsmässiga följder.

Tillvaratagande av GROT i skärgårdsnära miljö :

The main aim of this study was to investigate and compare different methods for the extraction of forest fuel from environments close to an archipelago. The study was based on relevant literature and published reports as well as personal communications. Forestry has traditionally been characterized by intense efforts to rationalize and mechanize the cutting technique used for timber and pulpwood. In line with the increasing importance of forestry, more concentrated efforts can be expected in the area of techniques and methods, especially for the above-mentioned product lines. In Sweden, forestry is of major importance and the Swedish economy and standard of living have mainly been created based on the revenues generated from it. Thus, it is vital that Swedish forests are harvested in an efficient and responsible manner. The demand for biofuel is growing and today accounts for 15% of total Swedish energy production, a share that will probably increase. This study is based on three research questions, which are described under the heading of Aim. The results reveal that the most profitable method for handling forest fuel is the traditional one, which is also the most commonly used method in southern Sweden, namely the stockpiling of logs in a clearing by means of forwarders followed by splintering at the place from where they will be distributed. Today, the high cost of barge transport required for the extraction of forest fuel in an archipelago environment renders such operations unprofitable.

Realisering av en modulär skogsmaskin - En skalmodell

Wood for commercial use is harvested from forests using forest machines like harvesters which folds, branches and cuts trees and forwarders which transports logs to a landing area for further transport to a processing facility. Future forest machines have to be much gentler to the machine operators and forest soil than today's machines. Hence new machine solutions must be developed and tested. A practical way is to develop a physical scale model which can be used as a test-bed to incorporate different types of solutions for suspensions, cabin damping, tires and tracks, crane and overall architecture. The aim of this project was to develop such a 1:5 scale model of a forest machine, named as ?Skogbil.A scaling strategy was employed to arrive at important scale dimensions and specifications ofSkogbil which would be comparable to the full scale model.
