Market capitalism sets the conditions for how the world is conceived, experienced and organized at various spatial scales (global to local). Currently, competitiveness, entrepreneurship and economic growth are key values that shape how the world is conceived, experienced and organized. Discourses of place marketing, place branding, and the construction of places as (economic) products, are part and parcel of the heightened commodification of space. Tourism has been a major factor in the commodification of place and space. More often than not, tourism has been seen as a possibility for peripheral places, in their struggle finding new ways towards development.

The aim of this study was to seek knowledge about how the media audience interprets media representations of immigrants as well as the construction of ?us? and ?them? that is created from the media report.We implemented two focus group interviews, one containing only ethnical Swedes and one holding a variety of people with different ethnical backgrounds. The focus groups got to read nine news articles from different Swedish news papers selected by us, based upon previous research. These articles got to serve as the basis of the discussion.To supplement the focus groups, which got to represent the media audience, we also interviewed two different persons we choose to call informants, whom are both immigrants and are or have been politically active and often appear in local media.The interviews were our empirical material which was used for analysis. The method we used was qualitative analysis of meaning and was based upon a hermeneutic starting point, meaning that all humans are interpreting beings.

I detta arbete har jag studerat automatisk klassifikation av texter i syfte att sortera dem i grupper om liknande innehåll. Texterna jämfördes med varandra och om de uppvisade tillräckligt hög innehållsmässig överensstämmelse läggs de i samma kluster. Den metod som jag har studerat, heuristisk klustergenerering, syftar till att sortera texter utan förkunskap om deras innehåll. Vid klassifikationen används orden i texterna, vilka avspeglar innehållet i texterna. Då är det intressant att studera vilka egenskaper orden har som kan utnyttjas vid klassifikationen av texterna.

This study is about howStockholm?s policy for zero tolerance of graffiti from 2007 affected the graffiti culture inStockholm. We have researched what consequences there were for the practice of graffiti, and what consequences there were for the stylistic performance of graffiti. In doing so, we have had two focus group interviews and one deep interview including eight graffiti writers from Stockholm. The individuals in the groups have been practising graffiti for a varied amount of time, but we have representation from both before, and after/during the policy of zero tolerance from 2007. Our study shows that the result ofStockholm?s policy for zero tolerance of graffiti for the graffiti culture inStockholmwas a ?subcultureification?, a ?stylistic generalization? and the ?subculture?s ambivalent identity?.

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the conceptualisation of the social relations of class and gender within the Social Democratic Women?s Association during the period 1972 ? 1993, on the basis of their programmes for action. The analysis of the concepts is based on an ideology critical study focusing on the manifest ideology.The study is based upon the theoretical concepts of class and gender,  The class analysis is based upon the broadened concepts of class by Erik Olin Wright and Ira Katznelson. The gender analysis is mainly based upon a Marxist understanding and a critical point of view of Marxism and feminism in the context of patriarchy and capitalism.The period of the study is where the social democracy is challenged, both by radical socialism and feminist ideology and the economic crisis during the 1980?s, as well as the possible threat of an organised women?s party in Sweden.

The meeting industry is a growing industry around the world, and the technological development in recent decades is one of the contributing factors to the increased travel opportunities and meeting industry's expansion. It can be assumed that the technology could replace some of the personal meetings, but humans have always had a need to meet in physical locations in work related purposes, therefore there is no evidence that personal meetings will disappear. Technological development should be seen as complementary rather than a substitute to the existing professional meetings. Public and private sectors within countries has drawn attention to meeting industry's potential, as favored destinations in terms of economic administration, image creation, expansion and acquisition of further market share in the global market. Meeting industry is complex precisely because there are so many different actors and stakeholders that integrate.

The new cataloging code Resource Description and Access (RDA) provides a system of instructions for recording relationships between related resources by means of a controlled vocabulary of relationship designators. The purpose of this two years master?s thesis in Archive, Library and Museum studies is to examine the construction of this system, as well as its theoretical foundation. One theoretical point of departure is the necessity of operational definitions for consistent identification of bibliographic relationships. Vår studie har haft som syfte att undersöka hur några elever i år 8 multimodalt designar sin förståelse av utvalda kunskapsområden, med koppling till kursplanerna för Engelska och Moderna språk, genom sin produktion av digitala bildspel. Vi har frågat oss: Hur sorterar och bearbetar eleverna information från olika medier? Hur designar eleverna ett eget kommunikativt innehåll och hur använder de olika semiotiska modaliteter i sin representation av detta? Vilka tecken på lärande kan vi finna hos eleverna genom att studera deras visuella representationer och genom att analysera deras intervjusvar? För att få svar på våra forskningsfrågor har vi analyserat och tolkat elevers bruk av semiotiska modaliteter såsom skrift, bild och layout i samband med designen av bildspel. Vi har även genomfört intervjuer med de flesta av deltagarna. Vår studie visar att dessa elevgrupper använt en mängd resurser för att multimodalt designa sitt lärande.

Traditional retouching, where you make the body of a female model in a magazine thinner, has been common for a long time and is well known. Several studies indicates that showing ultra-thin images of female bodies in media can lower the body satisfaction of ?ordinary? women which in some cases can lead to dangerous eating disorders. But in 2010 Swedish female magazine VeckoRevyn introduced a new type of retouching: Making some catwalk models bodies bigger instead, which we decided to call opposite retouching. This kind of retouching is aiming to widen the ideal picture that is sent out of how the female body should look like, and therefore having the readers reach a higher body satisfaction and becoming more at peace with the own body.

Syfte/problemställningar: Att med en kvalitativ undersökning studera om det tydligt via text och bild går att urskilja några globala och kulturella influenser i utvalda reportage från magasinet Elle Decoration, från fem olika länder. Vi studerar även skiljelinjerna mellan vad som är privat och vad som är offentligt genom framställningen av hemmet och dess inredning. Teori: Birgit Öbergs kulturperspektiv, John Tomlinsons globaliseringsperspektiv, Anja Hirdman, Madeleine Kleberg och Kristina Widestedts teorier kring intimiseringen av journalistiken och Jürgen Habermas offentlighetsteori. Metod: Semiotisk bildanalys och textuell diskursanalys. Resultat och slutsats: Via undersökningen har vi kommit fram till att det globala kan ses som ett nytt ideal inom heminredning där en gemensam underliggande mall ligger till grund för hemmens utformning och framställning.

Introduction: Suicide is a major public health problem both internationally and in Sweden. Itis known in research that sex and gender have a bearing on the incidence of suicide andattempted suicide. Gender Bias in medical research could lead to medical errors and to thatthe problem is made invisible. That is why it is important to identify and eliminate them. AimThe purpose of this paper was to examine whether there is gender bias in scientific articlesdealing with suicide prevention interventions and how this is expressed.

HSB Göteborg owns and manages the property Masthugget 11:13 also called the Corvette in Gothenburg. The Corvette contains mostly office space but also shops, homes and garages. HSB Göteborg utilizes approximately 5000 square meters to its headquarters but in December 2014 they will move operations to Johanneberg Science Park. The risk of an increased proportion of vacancies in combination with relatively low rents and other tenant terminations allows HSB to ask for a future plan for how the real estate should be developed in order to remain profitable.Through studies of the area, urban office prospects, property current status and legal and economic conditions have different potential types of businesses been evaluated. City Planning Office program proposal forms the basis for the analysis of future plans for the area.

Uppsatsens syfte är att studera kriget i Kongo ur ett beroendeperspektiv. Inblandade parter beskylls för att bedriva en illegal handel med kongolesiska naturresurser. En av förutsättningarna för fortsatt handel kan vara att kriget fortgår och därmed ytterligare försvagar den kongolesiska staten. Jag har valt att studera tre olika områden: statens oberoende, utländsk intervention i Kongo och den påstådda handeln. Beroendeteori och interdependens har använts vid studien och det finns tecken på att det har skapats beroendeförhållanden mellan de deltagande aktörerna.

Jag har valt att undersöka Salt (2010) Sucker Punch (2011) samt Resident Evil:Retribution (2012) Undersökningens frågeställningar är,Hur motiveras användande av våld då det utförs av kvinnliga actionhjältinnor?Vilka arketyper går att urskilja i representationerna av kvinnliga actionhjältinnors våldsutövande?Vilka symboler går att urskilja i kvinnliga actionhjältinnors utövande av våld?Min undersökning grundar sig i teorier om genus med utgångspunkt i Raewyn Connel, för att vidare knyta det samman till Stuart Halls representationsteorier samt stereotypifiering. Teoriavsnittet avslutas sedan med kvinnlig medieforskning från Liesbeth Van Zoonen samt Laura Mulvey. Min tidigare forskning grundar sig i en förklaring till hur den manlige hjälten genom tiden har representeras och vad som a?r representativt fo?r denne.
