An energy calculation model for Swedish houses   that is fast, flexible and user-friendly has been developed within the   framework of this thesis.  The model   also provides a set of actions which may be investigated in the model based   on savings and payback period. Energy use in a house depends on the technical   conditions, such as building envelope and heating systems, which outdoor   climate the house is exposed to and who lives in the house. Energy use for a   house can be divided into heating, hot water and household electricity. There   are several methods to calculate the energy use of a house. This report   summarizes the methods that may be suitable for a fast and user-friendly   calculation model.

The social community is structured around data, a lot of that data is stored in different types of databases. The meaning of this essay is to develop an interactive tool that will change the way database visualization is done, and also to research in which fields a tool of this type can be used. With the help of different methods we discovered areas where it could be of use, such as; presentation of a database, development and documentation of a database. The primary goal of the prototype was to make viewing of database structures easier, even people without prior database knowledge should be able to understand the structure. During the development we used prototypes.

The aim of this thesis is to accomplish a user study on how e-book users experience the electronic book, the e-book, as an instrument for reading fiction. The study is based upon qualitative interviews with twelve e-book users and a small survey carried out at the Stockholm City Library. The purpose is to identify the users' incentive for choosing the e-book as a medium for reading fiction, elucidate if and how the interface of the e-book affects the reading experience, and distinguish if there are any factors common to the users in their choice of reading e-books. How the users look upon the future of the e-book is also discussed. Among the people asked in the survey we note little if any demand for the e-book as an instrument for reading fiction.

Technology has grown rapidly in recent years. At present, almost all social interaction are through computers and telephones. It is, however, not everyone who can manage these media. This applies mostly to elderly people who have not kept pace with technological developments. A major contributing reason is that the manuals are usually bulky and too technical for this group.The purpose of this paper is to develop a concept/prototype into a product that will facilitate the use of mobile phones for seniors.

The expansion of the Swedish hydro power has contributed positively to the reduction of the environmental impacts from the fossil fueled power production. In the same time the extensive expansion has been proved to cause negative ecological and local environment impacts of a stream. This, in turn, has been affecting the biodiversity and fish stock negatively, which has been reduced. One of the underlying problems is the lack of possibility for the fish to pass the plants, but it is also directly correlated to the mortality rate of the fish passing through the turbine, which this study is investigating.The mortality rate has been computed for three different locations in Sweden, Untra, Tännfallet and a third one whose location is confidential, and is denoted as Case 1, 2 and 3. The model used to calculate the mortality rate in this investigation is based by existing blade strike models and knowledge and are investigating the death due to mechanical injuries from collision with a runner blade in the turbine.

AbstractThis report is made in cooperation with the municipality of Vasteras and technical committeestaff. The report addresses several topics that affect fuel stations in Vasteras. The reportcontains two parts, first is a inventory that review all stations in the area to be addressed. Theinventory is made with consideration to various things that geographic situation, whatcompanies are represented and what level of service stations have. And the second part of thereport, is done with the analysis of how it looks in daily situations review.

I takt med expanderingen av evenemangsturism växer även kraven på säkerhetshanteringen i samband med evenemangen. Hot som huliganism är vanligt förekommande vid vissa evenemang och behöver handskas med för att undvika eventuella påverkningar på besöksnäringen. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur aktörer arbetar kring säkerhet inför och under evenemang för att säkerställa individens hälsa i omständigheter där huliganism är närvarande och ofredar besöksnäringen. Fortsättningsvis vill vi även komma fram till vilken grad huliganismen påverkar besöksnäringen och i sådana fall, på vilket sätt. För att kunna svara på syftet och våra frågeställningar, har vi använt oss av en kvantitativ undersökning som hjälpt oss att påvisa denna företeelse.

Problem:Den nya ekonomins satsning på det framtida ?upplevelselandet Sverige? har påverkat mötesindustrin, som har fått högre krav på sig att allt oftare lansera nya mötesidéer. Mötesleverantörerna satsar idag på nyskapande och annorlunda mötesrum. Vi ser en motsättning i mötesleverantörernas satsning och kundernas uteblivna efterfrågan på det nya utbudet. Syfte: Vårt syfte är att undersöka på vilket sätt mötesleverantörers värdeerbjudande har influerats av den nya ekonomin.

This thesis is covering my design of an architectural object for the use in a pedagogical setting. The purpose is to create contextual premises for students, making possible the testing of designs, involving plants suitable for the urban environment. Hence, the main features in the object design is suggestive to the urban outdoor rooms - rooms that are formed amongst the city facades. The thesis is also about the design process set out from a technical reality, based on camera imagery. To a large extent, the thesis consists of reflections concerning the object's function towards pedagogy, perception and materials. Furthermore, the object claims to be a hybrid between architecture and landscape architecture.

This is a technical report about cement stabilization in general and the stabilizationprocess during the construction of a warehouse in Halmstad, Sweden in particular and iswritten at the section for economy and technology at Halmstad University incollaboration with NCC Anläggning.NCC encountered variations in compression strength in the stabilized material on the firstwarehouse that they constructed for the company Biltema. In our report we used thestabilization process of the second warehouse for the same company as a reference todetermine what could be done to get a more homogeneous result for future projects.We also looked in to what testing method is the most suitable to determine the result ofthe stabilization.After interviews with people involved in the process and visits on the work site we havecome to the conclusion that the most probable cause to the variations in compressionstrength is segregation in the ballast material. This segregation can occur in severaldifferent occasions in the process such as during the production, transportation andhandling on the work site.Other causes for the variation can be improper compaction, overlapping stabilization insome places and different duration of hardening of the samples that are tested.The best way to do in situ test of the stabilized material is to do seismic investigations asthose are non-destructive tests in comparison to taking core samples and you can discoverany cracks or air bubbles in the material..

Syftet med det här examensarbetet var att undersöka 3-5 åringars förmåga att utveckla sin förståelse för vattnets väg till kranen genom med en pedagogisk aktivitet. Genom den pedagogiska aktiviteten gavs barnen möjlighet att färdas genom vattensystemet med sina kroppar och sinnen, från sjön till kranen. För att kartlägga hur barnens förståelse utvecklats genomfördes kvalitativa intervjuer före och efter den pedagogiska aktiviteten.Jämförelsen mellan resultaten av förintervjuerna och uppföljningsintervjuerna pekar på en tydlig utveckling av barnens förståelse av vattnets väg till kranen, som ett tekniskt system. Flera av barnen utvecklade sin förståelse för att vårt hushållsvatten måste genomgå en reningsprocess, färdas genom olika komponenter i vattensystemet och rör innan det slutligen når kranen och kan förtäras..

Denna uppsats behandlar hur bevarandeaspekten av ett kulturarv kan beaktas i kommersialiseringsprocessen av detsamma, i turismsammanhang. Vi har i uppsatsen granskat hur aktörer med olika intresseområden inom turismbranschen resonerar kring bevarandeaspekten av ett kulturarv, för att på så vis kunna utläsa om och isåfall hur deras resonemang skiljer sig åt. Vi hoppas att med denna uppsats kunna bidra med nya idéer kring kulturarvsbevarande och dess relevans i turismsammanhang. I kommersialiseringen av ett kulturarv har vi sett att olika aktörer agerar utifrån sina egna intresseområden och att kulturarv främst brukas i ekonomiskt syfte. För att kunna skapa en balans mellan bevarandet och det kommersiella bruket av ett kulturarv, hävdar vi att de bevarande aspekterna måste lyftas fram, genom att se till de värden som är orsaken till att kulturarv kommersialiseras i första skedet.

Fisksätra has a historical background that goes back to the battle between Russia and Sweden that took place in 1719. This battle is known as "Slaget vid Stäket". Today there are plans to develop Fisksätra as a tourist destination where focus lays on the historic factor of the battlefield that took place there. As of this a project called the HAMN project has started to try to develop a new experience park at this destination unlike any other.The aim of this essay has been to study how much potential this experience park has to become a popular tourist destination in the future, while looking at the potential interest of the foreign tourists. This essay is written as an assignment for Göran Andersson, who is in charge of the tourism department at Södertörns Högskola.
