I Finland finns en teknik som genom att värmebehandla virke i upphettad ånga, förändrar egenskaperna hos virket, som t.ex. dess färg, dimensionsstabilitet och beständighet. Då infinner sig frågan om våra träslag, med förändrade egenskaper, kan konkurrera med importerat ädelträ, impregnerat trä och de svenska mörka träslagen som ek och valnöt? Uppdraget är att ta reda på hur man producerar värmebehandlat trä (VBT).

In Sweden today so-called "prescribed nature conservation burning" is performed due to the change in silvicultural law, certification and an increased knowledge regarding the field of fire in the forest landscape. The aim is to re-create structures and qualities made by the fire regimes of the past, though on a much smaller geographical scale. The structures and qualities to be re-created are for example broad leaf stands, trees with large diameter, heterogeneous stands regarding variables such as age and diameter. If we increase our knowledge of the constitution of forests characterized by fire, then we will be able to set goals for what achievements to reach both on landscape scale and stand scale. The aim of this paper is to try to describe how a stand from the past was composed regarding mainly the spatial arrangement and compare it with the stand of today in the same place. This to be done by using relict material, that is stumps and dead standing trees.

Syftet med föreliggande arbete är att utreda några markbehandlingsmetoders för och nackdelar, samt när och var de bör användas. De markbehandlingsmetoder som behandlas är plöjning, högläggning, harvning, fläckmarkberedning, inversmarkberedning, ångbehandling, mikropreparering, nedmyllning av frön samt grönrisplantering. Även mineralisering som en följd av markberedning berörs, liksom markberedning för sådd och naturlig föryngring. Uppsatsen behandlar huvudsakligen markbehandling på boreal skogsmark. Resultaten sammanställs i praktiska rekommendationer. Arbetet har genomförts som en litteraturstudie med analytiska inslag.

Transit Objects In the Master Essay I argue around two existing levels in the works presented at the graduation exhibition. On the one hand, it is about influence; on the other hand it is about the phenotypes of purpose-ness. In the introduction, I describe the relationship between the shapes that I have come to call Transit objects, and their on the one hand ideological superstructure; on the other hand, the different aspects of their shapes regarding the imitation I, in creating the objects, performed. In the case with the objects shape-aspects, I stand on the thoughts that I found during my bachelor's work, that is, to express the phenotypes of purpose-ness.When it comes to influence, I speculate about how linguistics, and particularly a branch called neuro-linguistics, illustrates how the arguments that make up our world can be transformed. I use a meta-model and a conversation model as a tool to illustrate this. When I, like that, illustrate the plasticity of meaning, and cognition, I note Catherine Malabous taught (in her book What Should we do with our brain?) on the plasticity of the brain in relation to the neo-liberal systems of capitalism. She argues for how the brain has come to stand model for the organization of different types of networks. I hint the link to a future scenario where the desire to influence takes new forms and uses the latest brain research challenges, more specifically the use of ultrasound for the treatment of pain and other similar conditions. This also can be used as generating various types of seizures, pleasant or unpleasant.

The aim with this thesis was to investigate what characterises an English Arts and Crafts garden how they could be modernised in Sweden. My research was limited to 20 weeks of full-time writing and worth 30 ECTS. Through literature studies, interviews and site visits I could analyse my findings which resulted in a concrete garden design project. The Arts and Crafts was a movement that started in England during the 1880?s and evolved as a reaction towards the industrialisation. The influence came from the writings and practices of John Ruskin (1819-1900) and William Morris (1834-1896) who advocated the importance of craftsmanship. The Arts and Crafts movement also became a ?recipe for life? and was associated with a healthy and morally pure way of living.
