Surfplattan : Intentioner och implementering i förskolan

The intention is to focus on the implementation of the Tablet in preschools and how the intentions around the introduction of the Tablet take shape in different preschools. The method is semi structured interviews where the respondents consist of 3 preschool directors and 6 teachers where the preschool directors work. This is a relevant subject to illustrate, as the Tablet has become a tool in preschool where it seems to be different opinions about how it should be used. This study aims to understand how the implementation can take form in different preschools, what kind of similarities and differences we can see with the intentions of the Tablet and if there is need of clarification on the workings of the Tablets in preschools. The results show that the intentions around the introduction of the Tablet in preschool look different in the preschools, and the implementation of this new technology starts in a small scale with help of photographing and videotaping.

We live in a society where the technology has an enormous role in our lives. The average age of using digital tools among Swedish people is down to a very young age. In the recent period of time there has been much debate about Tablets and their use in preschools. The aim of this study is to examine the preschool teachers experiences and perceptions of Tablet use and how the implementation of the Tablets benefits the school activities. What is central to this research is not how kids use the Tablet, but how educators are using the Tablet device as supplement for children?s development.

"Men det är väl en vanesak" : En intervjustudie kring lokaltidningen i läsplattan

The objective of this study was to investigate how the local newspaper readers felt about reading the local newspaper in a Tablet device, such as the iPad. We wanted to study the attitudes from consumers towards Tablets and if the traditional local newspaper can be substituted with a Tablet device. We decided to use qualitative interviews as our method. The selection of respondents was based upon age, whether or not they had a subscription and if they owned a Tablet device or not. We accomplished fifteen interviews with respondents living within the area where the newspapers of Barometern and Oskarshamnstidningen are spread. The study shows that the majority of the respondents who already had a subscription tended to lack interest in changing their traditional newspaper consumption. Their habits of reading the local news on paper were strong.

Surfplattor som studieverktyg : En artefakt för mediering

Swedish schools have during the last few years started to providing pupils in high school with Tablet-computers. By doing interviews I examine how pupils in high school use Tablet-computers in different ways and how that affect their studies. From a sociocultural perspective and with the concept of artefacts I analyze how suitable Tablet-computers are for studies on this level of education. My results show that the Tablet-computers are used as the pupils primary study tool. They are available to all pupils and can be used in most parts of their studies and this creates new opportonities in how to interact with collective knowledge and with other people.

The information technique is developing at a fast pace and almost all new technique is being welcomed with opened arms. The newest on the market is the Tablet device, it´s a device used for surfing the web, sending email, watching movies and playing games. It is now also being used in some schools for educational purposes. My research goal has been to find out how the teachers feel about using the Tablet device for educational purposes. I have conducted interviews to find the answers to my questions.

The observations were then complemented by interviews with teachers at the same preschools.This qualitative study focuses on some of the didactic questions regarding the Tablets, based on a theoretical framework that is within the design-oriented perspective; which addresses the children's? autonomy, the institutional framework and affordance.Our conclusion is that the Tablet?s introduction in the preschool has helped the teachers in numerous parts of their documentation, but we can also see that the children's opportunities to make choices regarding the Tablet are more limited than with any other resource on the preschool. In our results we also see that when the children get access to the Tablet they receive a learning experience, which among other things, strengthens their language skills and their social interaction with each other..

Pedagogers adaption av surfplattor : En studie av implementeringen av iPad i en F-5 skola

The Tablet is a new IT-tool which have started to get introduced into school, but research is still missing and especially in the pre-school environment. The purpose with this study is to investigate teachers uptake, how they use the Tablet in everyday pedagogy work as well as the organizational conditions that that facilitate and hinders. Through my observations and interviews in a Swedish K-5 school I have found that the teachers find Tablets more appealing to use in comparison to computers. These findings are partly supported by Davis et al.?s (1989) TAM-theory who considers there to be three types of aspects that affect the way individuals adapt to technology.

Portable IT devices such as laptops, smart phones and computer Tablets are becoming ever more ubiquitous. At the same time, the population of the Western world is growing older, with aging bringing about changes with regards to individuals' physical and mental capabilities. These facts raises important questions about how well suited these devices are for use by elderly people. This study focuses on the cognitive aspects of the devices' usability, using the concept of mental models to analyze the users' understanding of a computer Tablet. It also draws upon theory of graphical user interfaces in its analyses.
