Svenskdidaktik i (o)jämlikhetens landskap : en studie om språkutveckling, rasifiering och klass

Symbolic resources transform in to social power and material resources through the educational system. This entails that all students should have equal access to it.The essay compares Swedish didactics in ?immigrant? and ?white? schools, all situated in socio-economically underprivileged areas, analysing interviews with eight Swedish teachers about their didactics regarding restricted and elaborated language code.Understanding teacher?s work in the class room requires attention to the intersections between race and class, and of both to the distribution of symbolic resources in general.The essay finds that the practice of the? immigrant? school teachers differs from the ?white? school teachers?. The former are active, providing intellectual tools, scaffolding and driving force while the later choose a more passive attitude, letting students decide for themselves what to do and what goals to reach. Consequently ?white? schools allow the reproduction of unequal distribution of symbolic resources while practice in immigrant schools aim to compensate for disadvantages.Practice seems to win legitimacy by different sets of conceptualisations.

Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning - En studie av börsnoterade företags interna implementeringsprocesser

Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och analysera den företagsinterna implementeringsprocessen rörande Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning i några företag, diskutera inställningen till Koden och dess självregleringsprincip, samt söka samband mellan dessa beståndsdelar och hur väl företagen följer bestämmelserna.Metod: Vår kvalitativa undersökning baseras på en tidigare utförd kvantitativ studie, varefter vi har använt oss av fallstudier.Teoretiska perspektiv: Den teoretiska referensramen innefattar corporate governance, agentteorin, intressentteorin samt olika organisatoriska förändringsteorier, vilka samtliga kopplas till Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning. Empiri: Det empiriska materialet är en sammanställning av telefonintervjuer med sakkunniga respondenter med varierade befattningar på sex noterade bolag, vilka har varit involverade i den företagsinterna implementeringen av Koden.Slutsatser: Det finns varierande sätt att implementera Svensk kod för bolagsstyrning inom ett företag, men våra fallföretag har visat sig använda snarlika metoder. Vidare har vi inte funnit några utmärkande skillnader mellan deras inställning till Koden, dess självreglerande funktion samt sanktioner kopplade till denna. Bortsett från att de företag som till viss del använt sig av extern hjälp har visat sig vara goda kodföljare, har vi inte kunnat påvisa några direkta kopplingar mellan fallföretagens arbetsmetoder, inställning i olika avseenden samt hur väl de följt Koden..

The regime theory is the dominant paradigm in the studies of urban politics in USA. It provides a set of concepts to analyse the change from government to governance in the American local politics. The regime theory postulates that governing power in local government tends to be highly fragmented. The private sector has with its control of economic resources a major influence in shaping governing decisions. In this essay I study the regime theory in a Swedish context to investigate if the theory is pertinent when studying of Swedish local governance.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how the competitiveness of family firms is affected by governance mechanisms. The thesis addresses four governance mechanisms: inefficient labor markets, inefficient capital markets, self control and altruism. We have conducted an abductive method to be able to perform a qualitative research study. In this study two family firms have been examined, ROL and Indiska Magasinet. We conclude that the presence of inefficient labor and capital markets within the studied family firms give rise to negative effects in terms of difficulties of hiring talented employees.

The purpose of this essay is to study the impact of different factors on corporate capital structure. The factors studied in relation to corporate debt ratio are industry affiliation, size and profitability. The study involves all 252 companies quoted on the Stockholm stock exchange and cover a time period from 2007 to 2011. The result shows that branch affiliation has a significant impact on corporate debt ratios. Regarding size and profitability, however, these factors do not have an evident impact on corporate debt ratios..

Corporate Social Responsibility och Corporate Financial Performance : En studie om företagsstorleks inverkan på sambandet mellan CSR och CFP inom företag noterade på Nasdaq OMX Nordic Stockholm

Denna studie fokuserar på företagsstorleks inverkan på sambandet mellan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) och Corporate Financial Performance (CFP). Huvudsyftet är att mäta om effekten av CSR på CFP skiljer sig mellan små och stora företag noterade på Nasdaq OMX Nordic Stockholm. Perioden som studeras är åren 2006-2009 samt år 2011. För att utröna om företagsstorlek har inverkan på sambandet tillämpas modererande regressionsanalys som går ut på att fastställa huruvida någon interaktionseffekt förekommer eller ej. Vi kontrollerar även för variablerna bransch och tid.

Bakgrund: Begreppet corporate governance har på senare tid fått en ökad betydelse i den bolagsrättsliga kontexten. Enligt Svensk Kod för Bolagsstyrning så ska företag på reglerade marknader avlägga en bolagsstyrningsrapport bifogad till sin årsredovisning. En stor del av rapporten utgörs av en presentation av bolagets interna kontroll och riskhantering avseende den finansiella rapporteringen. Här har företagen möjlighet att stärka sina aktieägares och andra potentiella investerares förtroende för sin verksamhet. Men vad är det som styr hur företagen väljer att framställa och presentera denna information? Enligt institutionell teori så finns det faktorer i ett företags omgivning som påverkar organisationens medlemmars agerande och ett sådant tryck är att styrelseledamöter påverkas av styrelseledamöter i andra företag.

Corporate Brand Positioning

PURPOSE: To investigate to what extent product brand positioning models can be used to analyzecorporate brand positioning;METHODOLOGY: The phenomenon is observed from a positivist epistemological position within a primarilyinductive research design. The research strategy is defined as qualitative, while the method of ethnographiccontent analysis is implemented to analyze primary data;THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE: Product and brand positioning literature; Product brand positioning rhombus;EMPIRICAL DATA: Ethnographic content analysis of brand commercials;CONCLUSION: As shown by the extensive literature review product brands (PB) and corporate brands (CB) coexistin corporate environments. One of key insights of this study shows that product brand positioning(PBP) and corporate brand positioning (CBP) processes can also co-exist in the same corporate environment.Moreover, PBs can be built based on the CB, making the investment in CB a long term return on investment.The study also observes that PBP messages include the ?against whom? attribute, highlighting differentiationin the competitive environment; when on the corporate level, this evolves, and in some cases becomes quitethe contrary, when the concept of ?from whom? or ?by whom? is stressed more than the differentiation amongother CBs in the competitive environment. This stresses the importance of including brand identity elementsin CBP..
