The purpose of this study was to look into how learners of Swedish as a second language and some teachers of the subject think and reason about the choice between Swedish or Swedish as a Second Language and literature in Swedish at upper secondary schools. Similar studies have earlier been carried out at upper secondary schools in areas dominated by immigrants while the present study has been accomplished in a small municipality with comparatively few immigrants. The study is based upon qualitative interviews which have been analysed through the socio-cultural theory regarding those artifacts, communication and that mediating second learners of Swedish and their teachers and schools are using in their choices between Swedish or Swedish as a Second Language as well as selection of literature in literature teaching.  The study also shows how learners of Swedish as a second language perceive the choice between the two options of Swedish courses at advanced upper secondary school and how their teachers look upon their choice and the information given. Furthermore we will also get to know the learners of Swedish as a second language and their teachers? view on teaching Swedish literature at advanced upper secondary B-level in Swedish.

This survey was made during the autumn of 2002 and the beginning of 2003, on commission from the National Board of Forestry. The purpose with the survey was to gather experience and knowledge in the organisation about fencing and this was made through interviews. The ambition was also to get knowledge from people outside the organisation that have great experience of forestry and fencing. The interviews were based on questions that have been composed by the author with help from the supervisors. The questions were the same to both the personal from the National Board of Forestry and to the foresters. Interviews were also made with private landowners, gamekeepers, game researcher, the County Administrative Board, the National Road Administration, pole and net retailers and contractors. The target group for this work is the National Board of Forestry to be forwarded to persons interested in forestry with the ambition to spread knowledge about how to prevent damage on the forest by browsing animals. The deer populations are big in the south of Sweden and growing populations have increased the damage on plantations of broadleaves of the most species.

The concept of sustainable development is a challenge that demands cooperation from all levels of society for it to be successful. The focus for this thesis is how politicians within the local councils understand the concept of sustainable development and how they implement it in political decision-making.The basis for the study is a questionnaire that was distributed to 303 local politicians in three municipalities of varying size in Southern Sweden. The study concentrates on departments within the local councils that are directly connected to the Swedish environmental law and the Swedish planning and construction law. One of the primary goals with the aforementioned laws is the achievement of sustainable development within one generation.The outcome of the study was that over half of the local politicians could correctly define sustainable development according to the World Commission on Environment and Development?s (WCED) definition.

This paper aims to examine how the construction of women with foreign background is visible in the Swedish debate on elder care and ethnicity. The subject is interesting with regard to the existing discriminating conceptions about ethnicity and how the living conditions of immigrant women are med scarce in the Swedish research field. It is also a relevant topic in light of the incipient crisis of the Swedish eldery care. The examining of how several axes of power interplay to construct the women is rendered possible through an intersectional perspective. This requires of the study to relate to the concept of category, and in this paper I have chosen an intercategorical approach.

Denna studie är en del av en flerfallstudie i Jönköpings län och undersöker ett HVB-hem för ensamkommande barn och ungdomar i Jönköpings kommun. Syftet är att med hjälp av en kvalitativ fallstudie undersöka grannskapets potentiella roll för de ensamkommande barnen och ungdomarnas integration. Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med grannar (n=11) och med representanter för HVB-hemmet (n=3). Studien undersöker även vilka kontakter som finns mellan HVB-hemmet och grannskapet, samt vilka informationsstrategier som använts i etableringsprocessen av HVB-hemmet och den betydelse dessa kan ha haft för hemmets mottagande. Studien visar att grannskapet uppfattar det undersökta HVB-hemmet som anonymt och att det finns en tydlig brist på information och kunskap om hemmet.

Utifrån läroplanen strävar förskolan efter ett väl fungerade samarbete med föräldrarna genom att visa respekt och ha bra relationer till barnens familjer. Syftet med examensarbetet är att lyfta fram betydelsen av "föräldrarummet" som är en verksamhet på Sätragårdens förskola, för att underlätta integrationen av invandrarföräldrar och att samverka med dem. Metoden är att intervjua två föräldrar, en personal och föräldrarums ansvariga på Sätragårdens förskola samt att observera hur arbetar föräldrarummet. Med hjälp av mjukvara Complador skapades ett strateginät som visade föräldrarummets aktiviteter och strategier. Resultat visar att föräldrarummet har en stor betydelse för att invandrarföräldrar blir integrerade och delaktiga i förskolans arbete..

This Masters Thesis is about the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs and the arms length principle. The principle is used to explain the separation of power between two parts with a common interest. The main purpose is to elucidate if, and if so in what way, the arms length principle can be used to explain the relation between the National Council for Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Culture, i.e. the Swedish government, but also to examine the structures of power and relations within the Council. In the thesis we show that in the field of cultural policy the content of the arm lengths principle varies due to the many interpretations of the meaning.

De svenska städerna har fått en mer komplex och rikare sammansättning av befolkningsgrupper när det kommer till både levnadssätt och familjeförhållanden. De socioekonomiska klyftorna har blivit allt tydligare och bostadssegregationen har under de senaste decennierna växt fram i de svenska städerna. Det finns många föreställningar om hur man planerar den goda staden och vilka komponenter som behövs för att skapa en stad där alla är jämlika. I detta kandidatarbete undersöks hur den fysiska utformningen påverkar städers boendemönster och området Möllevången i Malmö studeras som fallstudie.

In the ever increasing media clutter it is hard for marketers to make their products stand out. New ways of reaching consumers are constantly arising. This study seeks to further investigate the phenomenon known as product placement, delimited to movies/television. By conducting an experiment we tested whether different presumptions matters for what effect a product placement will have on attitude and if these could be affected. We also looked at if the level of product integration effect attitude and realism enhancement.

Att en organisation fattar beslut om överordnade mål och strategier innebär i sig inte något organisatoriskt lärande. För att möjliggöra en integration av uppställda mål och strategier så att dessa genomsyrar organisationen behöver det ske en process - ett organisatoriskt lärande. Vi har i denna uppsats studerat hur denna process går till i organisationen Lunds universitet, när det gäller integration av mål och strategier rörande ledarskap och hur universitetet i denna process tillvaratar individuell kunskap och kompetens så att organisationen får en högre kompetens och därmed en ökad möjlighet att nå uppställda mål. Vi har utgått från litteratur kring organisatoriskt lärande, där vi gjort en sammanställning av de teorier och den forskning som vi anser har relevans för vår frågeställning. Ur dessa har vi tagit fram följande kriterier för organisatoriskt lärande: kommunikation, tillgängliggörande, reflektion och samsyn och integration.

I Sverige föreligger en ringa forskning som berör amatörboxningens sociala betydelse. Detta gäller även den internationella arenan. En generell uppfattning är att boxning är en sport som mestadels utövas av grupper som har sina rötter i lägre sociala klassen. Den ringa forskning som finns visar att personer som söker sig till amatörboxning ofta kommer från en segregerad miljö med begränsade ekonomiska resurser. I vissa fall avviker de från samhällets normer.

The aim of this essay is to examine the ambivalence that I consider work of solidarity carried out from majority position to be associated with, and whether it makes sense to understand the relationship between majorities and minorities involved in this work by using the concepts of race and whiteness. Through Ruth Frankenbergs work on white women and race I consider whiteness to be a racialized position, and through Sara Ahmeds phenomenology of whiteness, which describes racialization as made through the orientation of bodies, I investigate how this racialized position is shaped and maintained by the solidarity work. The study is based on qualitative interviews with four White women engaged in two organizations that works on integration of female immigrants through creating jobs in a cooperative and through educating in national and familial democracy. The work of solidarity told of by the interviewees seems to produce racialized notions about immigrated people of color, which acts as a counterpart to the whiteness that the interviewees themselves possess. At the same time, the work also challenge this binary division, especially by incorporating the non-white women in what in this essay is called "the white world"..

Commissioned for this report is Ramboll, Bridge and Tunnel Unit in Stockholm. Theidea throughout the work has been to primarily help bridge designers compilingadvice and instructions on how fatigue verification for railway bridges in reinforcedconcrete shall be performed under the new rules, the Eurocodes.After the introduction of the Eurocodes in 2011 has major problems emerged amongdesigners around Sweden. In some areas, it differs in the calculation rules comparedwith rules from the Swedish Transport Administration and the National Board ofHousing, Building and Planning calculation. Fatigue verification is one area where thenew calculation rules are different from the past.A large part of the report has been to interpret and find the relevant information inthe Eurocodes concerning fatigue. When questions or doubts have surfaced, this hasbeen discussed with Elisabeth Helsing at the Swedish Transport Administration andbridge designers at Ramboll.The result is a report where the structure is organized in the way that the bridgedesigners can move from cover to cover and realize that fatigue verification in realityfollows the same order as the report's sections.

With increased globalization more companies are sending their employees abroad in order for the company?s survival on the market. Many studies in the field of International Business describe unsuccessful foreign assignments and the importance of intercultural support regarding expatriation. Due to the fact that company X is an international organization we found an interest in studying how the company handles their expatriation process in Sweden. This became the purpose of our study.

    Sammanfattning: Syftet med vår uppsats är att belysa identiteten och den kulturella tillhörigheten hos andra generationens invandrare. Vi vill belysa deras syn i fråga om identitet, integration och omgivning. Kvalitativa intervjuer har utförts för att få svar på våra frågeställningar och tre personer från Malmö samt två personer från Skellefteå och en person från Piteå har ställt upp på denna undersökningen. Dessa intervjuer har sedan analyserats och diskuterats med inspiration av essentialismen, konstruktionismen samt den postkoloniala teoribildningen. Utöver dessa inriktningarna ligger fokus på identitet och identitetsskapande teorier eftersom en stor del av syftet med studien är att belysa hur intervjupersonerna ser på sin identitet.
