Sustainable destination development has in recent years become an increasingly important concept for tourism destinations. A destination must take into account the environment if it wants to continue being a successful tourism destination in the future. This essay investigates what needs to be developed on theislandofSandhamnfor that the destination can be more attractive in the off season and how the players on Sandhamn integrate to develop Sandhamn in a sustainable manner. One market research and interviews with five different players were made. Through these interviews grew an understanding for how the cooperation between the municipal and the private party looks like and how the history of Sandhamn is the foundation for the islands tourism development.

Energy is an important issue in the current world which significantly affects sustainability and development. Energy generation and use are major sources of CO2 emissions which is one of the most important driving factors in global climate changes. The amount of energy used in house hold section can lead to estimation of the amount of CO2 emitted within this section which subsequently would be a ground to better management and maintaining a sustainable society. This study which is a bachelor?s project in sustainable energy, deals with estimation of CO2 emission from different types of residential houses in Sweden. An extensive literature review on energy use in Sweden by different residential sectors has been conducted.

The non-governmental organization Gram Vikas primary concern is to establish clean water in remote areas inhabited by often aggrieved tribals and low caste communities. The purpose of this essay is to highlight the factors that are important for a shift to a more equal and sustainable living.

Uppsatsens syfte är att öka kunskapen och förståelsen kring CSR som värdeskapande strategi. Vårt angreppsätt utgår från hermeneutiskt forskningsstrategi. Vi gör en kvalitativ fallstudie av beskrivande karaktär genom intervjuer och granskning av offentliga rapporter från IKEA, Telenor och Sveaskog. Enligt induktiv metod utgår undersökningen från vår frågeställning som tillsammans med relevant teori och empiri leder fram till analys och slutsatser.Genom vår undersökning har vi fastställt att CSR är en värdeskapande strategi. Detta baserar vi på resultaten av vår undersökning som bland annat säger 1) att det saknas en gemensam och allmängiltig definition av CSR och företagens ansvarstagande; 2) att begreppen CSR, CR och hållbarhet mer eller mindre är utbytbara; 3) att ett fullständigt ansvarstagande kräver en helhetssyn som innefattar både ekonomiska, sociala, miljömässiga och etiska frågor; 4) att en fullständig integrering av ansvarsarbetet i organisationen såväl som i den dagliga verksamheten är att eftersträva; 5) att bättre möjligheter för företagens fortlevnad är det viktigaste motivet till respondenternas arbete med ansvarsfrågor; 6) att ansvarsarbete är mycket värdefullt för företagen men att inget av dem mäter värdet i ekonomiska termer eller sätter upp finansiella mål för arbetet; 7) att det generella målet med ansvarsarbetet är att bidra till uppfyllande av generella företagsmål; 8) att attitydundersökningar hos viktiga intressentgrupper är det vanligaste sättet att mäta resultatet av ansvarsarbete; 9) att kommunikation är mycket viktigt för att bli framgångsrik i sitt ansvarsarbete; 10) att respondenternas viktigaste intressenter är deras medarbetare, kunder och ägare..

Purpose - To analyze the relationship between supply chain management maturity, supply chain performance and financial performance in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME:s).Design/methodology/approach - The data comprises 15 SME:s that participated in a local logistic study in Gävleborgs län. The levels of supply chain mature within these firms were based upon an interview study and the financial performance of the firms was then examined using financial reports-based data.Findings -The results of this study indicate that there is a strong relationship between SCM maturity and SC performance in SMEs, some relationships between SCM maturity and financial performance, as well as some relationships between SC performance and financial performance. This means that if firms use maturity indicators in the SCOR areas to improve their processes, they will most likely achieve a positive effect on supply chain performance and probably also on financial performance. The result implies that the supply chain maturities in these firms are higher than expected with no one at the adHoc level.While this study is based on a rather small number of participating firms, it would be valuable to further test the significance of the indicated correlations between SCM maturity and performance in a large-scale survey.Research limitations/Implications - The research is an attempt to understand supply chain maturity and it´s implication on financial performance. Developing supply chain maturity is an opportunity for a company to gain superior performance.

Det här kandidatarbetet undersöker mönsterdesignens möjlighet att verka för hållbar utveckling genom att se till begreppet mönster ur ett bredare perspektiv, samt i relation till design för hållbar utveckling.

This final project discusses renewal and upgrading of the area of Prim. It is discussed how this industrial area can be an attractive neighborhood with a varied range of services and commercial trade. Prim is located 2km north-east of the center of Barcelona. The area boarders to a deep railway valley that historically has separated Prim from its neighboring districts. At present there is almost no housing, services or commercial trade within the area and the industry is discontinued or the existing industrial buildings are derelict. There is also a lack of green recreational areas.

Däremot blir informationen som redovisas mer och mer omfattande för varje år, samtidigt som en färsk granskningsrapport visar att klädbranschens hållbarhetsarbete inte motsvarar den önskvärda utvecklingen. Den senaste tidens omfattande redovisningen kan därför diskuteras, om det är en form av fasadbygge, eller om redovisningen ändå kan uppfattas som legitim och trovärdig?Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka den interna kommunikationens betydelse för hållbarhetsredovisningens trovärdighet.

Stora delar av världen genomgår idag en omfattande urbanisering, där allt fler flyttar från land till stad. Samtidigt ges diskussionen om hållbar utveckling mer och mer relevans och utrymme. Som en följd av rådande urbaniseringstrender tycks resonemang kring miljömässig hållbar utveckling ofta beröra hur de urbana strukturerna ska kunna komma att möta framtidens klimatutmaningar, snarare än att alternativa strukturer lyfts fram som möjliga, mer miljövänliga, alternativ. Denna uppsats syftar till att ge en djupare förståelse för vilken betydelse relationen mellan stad och landsbygd har för en miljömässigt hållbar utveckling. Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i en beskrivning av och diskussion kring miljömässig hållbarhet (och icke-hållbarhet) i staden respektive på landsbygden. Denna beskrivning och diskussion ligger sedan till grund för en analys av huruvida Region Skåne förhåller sig till de miljömässiga fördelar en stärkt relation mellan stad och landsbygd innebär.

På ostkusten mellan Södertälje och Vagnhärad ligger Tullgarn. Eken har sedan långt tillbaka varit en given del av landskapsbilden runt Tullgarn. Det har funnits en oro för att ekförekomsten på Tullgarn varit avtagande och att dess framtida förekomst skulle var osäker. Denna osäkerhet har varit en stor del till varför detta examensarbete initierats. Syftet med arbetet har varit att titta på hur ekförekomsten har förändrats mellan 1973 fram till 2014 och bedöma ekens aktuella förekomst och livskraftighet.

This report deals with activities that from a CSR perspective are considered to create a shared value for a medium-sized construction company in Sweden. The CSR definition used in the report is the European Commission?s since it reflects the valuecreating aspects of CSR, in contrast to the traditional philanthropic aspect of CSR.Companies in the building construction industry have difficulties identifying activities that create value in society and in the company. The aim with the project is to, from a CSR perspective, identify and evaluate value creating activities in a building construction company. This thesis has been carried out at the Department of Urban and Rural Development at SLU Ultuna during the spring semester 2009. The topic of the paper is how energy consumption can be influenced through design and if the conditions for good design decreases when solutions based on energy efficiency are used. The report is divided into one literature study and one part where energy efficient solutions are used in a design. The thesis work has its origin in a project called "Energihus i Uppsala." The planned building will be a center for energy research in Uppsala. The project aims to demonstrate to the public what is currently happening in research related to energy.

While studying at the landscape architect program in Uppsala I found stress to play a major roll in the education. To help myself and others to handle the negative stress within the profession and the education I choose to write my thesis about landscape architects' work cultures. Swedish Association of Architects is in second place in the SACO study on long-term sickness for fatigue syndrome, stress and depression. The issue needed to be addressed. My purpose with the thesis has been to study the work cultures in the landscape profession and training and to study and find ways to manage negative stress in the profession and in education.
