Purpose/aim: The purpose of this thesis is to examine if, and in that case how, the municipality of Umeå worked strategically with its communication during 2014 when Umeå was chosen as ?European Capital of Culture?. The research is mainly focused on the outlines of their communication plan, main goals, what  communication strategies the municipality has chosen to and their choice of media channels.Material/method: Two methods are used for this research; qualitative interviews with four employees within the communication team during Umeå2014 and a text analysis of three formal documents which provide the framework of communication policies and media strategies during Umeå2014.Results: The results clearly indicate a well structured, strategic planning outlined in the formal documents. Stadsdelar med en utpräglad hållbarhetsprofil planläggs runt om i Sverige och övriga världen, och har haft en stor genomslagskraft sedan millenniumskiftet. Sedan 90-talet har dessa projekt stått högt på den politiska agendan och i Sverige startade satsningen i samband med det gröna folkhemmet då Sverige skulle bli ett föregångsland inom hållbar utveckling. Sedan 1998 har miljontals statliga kronor lagts på hållbara stadsutvecklingsprojekt vilket har lett till att ett flertal stadsdelar bebyggts i Sverige med en utpräglad hållbarhetsprofil varav Västra Hamnen i Malmö med start i Bo01- området, Hammarby Sjöstad i Stockholm och Norra Älvstranden i Göteborg är bland de största pilotprojekten. Det som områdena har gemensamt är att de alla är centralt belägna på industrimark med byggnader av miljövänliga material och diverse ekosystemtjänster finns på området. Stadsdelarna anses hållbara ur ett ekonomisk, ekologisk och socialt perspektiv.

De globala klimatförändringarna som sker i dag måste tas hänsyn till inom alla aspekter av vårt samhälle. Det är få som inte har hört att medeltemperaturen blir högre, att havsnivåerna stiger och att stormarna blir värre och orsakar mer skada än tidigare. I den fysiska planeringen går det att göra mycket för att guida de globala klimatförändringarnas utveckling i rätt riktning, en riktning som gör att samhället förändras efter de nya förutsättningarna och samtidigt stävjar den snabba utvecklingen de globala klimatförändringarna har i dag. Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att undersöka vad som kan göras inom den fysiska planeringen för att åstadkomma just detta. Vidare har syftet varit att göra ett idéförslag på Hattholmen i Karlskrona som samlar konkreta lösningar för vad som kan göras på lokal nivå när det gäller de globala klimatförändringarna. Metoderna i detta arbete är kvalitativ innehållsanalys och tillämpningsstudie som används för att besvara frågeställningarna och på sätt belysa arbetes syfte.

Det här är en masteruppsats i fysisk planering med inriktning omvärldsanalys och strategiskt arbete i kommunal översiktlig planering. Uppsatsen undersöker hur kommuners omvärldsanalyser ser ut samt hur de utifrån dessa formulerar strategier. Vidare undersöker uppsatsen vilka huvuddragen i strategierna är samt vilka planeringsprojekt som kommunen menar ska bidra till att strategin uppnås. Med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys och semistrukturerade personliga intervjuer har två översiktsplaner och en fördjupad översiktsplan för Helsingborg, Malmö respektive Ystad undersökts. Vidare är syftet att se vilka förutsättningar och vilken problematik som därefter uppstår. Undersökningen har skett genom en kvalitativ innehållsanalys av den Olympiska parken i Peking respektive London. Resultatet från studien har därefter analyserats och diskuterats utifrån ett par teoretiska huvudpunkter som är viktiga vid planeringen av mega-event. Propose/Aim: The aim of this thesis is to examine the professional role of the Community Manager working for gaming companies. The thesis will examine which background and previous experience a Community Manager should have and the tasks included in the assignment to see how this new role can contribute to the development of gaming companies.Material/Method: The method used in this study is of a qualitative character. The data has been gathered through e-mail interviews with five people working as Community Managers in the gaming business and in addition, through a textual analysis of five job advertisements. The results were analyzed on the basis of carefully selected theories in the field of strategic communication.Main results: The main result of this study is that the Community Manager's most important task is to act as a link between the players and the game developers by communicating with both sides. The Community Manager can receive important feedback from the players which can contribute to the game development. .

 The sawmill industry is a relative fragmented industry that is in an economic upswing andwith a hard competition. The customers have high demands on their suppliers and the highcustomer demand make it necessary for the companies to make a streamlining in planningand production. For that reason it is very important that the planning- and productionprocesses aren?t to complex and with a simple structure.The purpose of this report is to study and map out a marked out part of a planning- andproduction process, from adjust works to final delivery, at a company in the sawmill industry.Different methods have been used for the report, among others interviews and subordinatedmaterial.We have mapped out a marked out part of the planning- and production process at theCompany. This part we have studied, and we have analysed the process it self and otherthings connected to the process.We see the planning- and production process in the Company as complex.

This report is a master thesis performed by Adam Lundin at the company Sandvik Coromants production facility in Gimo. The work started in January 2013 and went on for the duration of 20 weeks, which is equivalent to 30 hp. The project was executed at the department GVR10. The scope of the project was to create a base for improvements in the purchasing process of direct material to the production. The background to the project was that the centralized purchasing department has gone through changes and decision was taken to decentralize the purchasing of direct material to Gimo.

Since the beginning of 2007 Stockholm Resilience Centre has produced scientifictransdisciplinary research in the subjects of sustainability and resilience. There is a highambition to communicate the results of the research to key stakeholders. One of the targetgroups is policy makers, because the mission identifies this group as important when reachingfor the main goal (vision) of the research institute. The media of choice is an e-newsletterwith the latest resilience research produced within Stockholm Resilience Centre. It is at thesame time an opportunity to bring forth the organisations objective connected with the vision.The newsletter is studied in the light of marketing communication with the purpose to clarifythe needs of policy makers, examine the limits and possibilities of the media and theorganisational aspects with the intention to give guidelines concerning the development of thenewsletter.

Hur medborgarna kan påverka sin närmiljö och den lokala utvecklingen genom den översiktliga planeringen står i centrum för detta examensarbete. För att undersöka saken har en studie gjorts på tre öar utan broförbindelse i den svenska skärgården. Öarna Koster i Strömstads kommun, Dyrön i Tjörns kommun och Holmön i Umeå kommun skiljs åt, till viss del, vad gäller befolkningasantal, yta och avstånd till fastlandet medan likheten består av beroendet av färjeförbindelser och en starkt engagerad befolkning. De bofasta visar dessutom upp, genom hemsidor och litteratur, sitt medborgerliga engagemang för lokala utvecklingsfrågor. Med hjälp av respektive kommuns översiktsplan / fördjupning av översiktsplanen samt information från respektive lokal utvecklingsgrupp har jag följt processen från vison till genomförande. The purpose of this thesis is to gain a deeper understanding about why Swedish banks choose to work and report CSR and also analyze differences and similarities between two banks.Research question: Why do Swedish companies within the financial sector choose to report and work with Corporate Social Responsibility?The major incentives to work and report CSR are because it benefits bank´s businesses, which is driven by stakeholders. Stakeholder pressure is also an important incentive, especially pressure from customers and employees. The incentives that differed between the two banks were morality of the business leader, society and the priority of stakeholders. The incentives that we could not support were guidelines and competitors-.

This study addresses the issue of mergers between consulting firms. Previous research has shown that there are specific factors that determine the outcome of a merger and that success is more likely if companies are more similar. The purpose of the study is therefore to define relevant factors and understand when resemblance matter and under what conditions disparity may cause problems. Furthermore, the aim of the study is to find a pattern of which factors are more important in a successful merger. The problem of the study is addressed through a qualitative research approach and is conducted on six different mergers.

This essay conducts a descriptive analysis of the ideas expressed by NATO´s official security strategy "Strategic Concept" from 2010 and the European Union?s security strategy "A Secure Europe in a Better World" from 2003. The purpose of this analysis is to examine whether the ESDP and NATO are compatible with each other when it comes to the role of security policy actor. To do so, I´ve chosen to analyse the actors' security strategies based on three dimensions. These dimensions are: Their view of the international scene, their views on cooperation and their views on how to reach security.

By doing a study of Stapelbäddsparken from a gender perspective I have been investigating and analysing physical planning and landscape architectural design. My intention with this thesis is to reflect on what a gender perspective in physical planning means and what kind of consequences and effects it could have on physical planning and outdoor design. Gender is something that is created, moulded and transformed by social and cultural processes. And it also includes a dimension of power concerning the knowledge of the relationships between women and men where the standard in today?s society is still men?s interests. To implement gender in my analysis of the park I have been observing how the park is used and who is using it. I have also been investigating who?s needs and wishes that has been provided for in planning and design.
