This study aims to investigate the origin and the development of a certain type of decision phenomena, namely political decision chains. A political decision chain is defined as a seemingly rational decision being made, that is reverted through a new decision and this for other reasons than the original decision being regarded as having fulfilled its intended purpose. The essay attempts to explain the occurrence of these decision chains through a case study in order to thoroughly examine the complexities that surround political decisions overall. The essay concludes that uncontrollable factors and chance to a large extent affect the origin of these chains, allowing actors to change the political agenda according to their preferences. The relative weighting of these factors that is made by the actors, which exist within the decision chain, makes them underestimate the relative power of other actors that may have different preferences.

The aim of this report is to investigate, on the basis of two consult agencies perspectives, what the possibilities and obstacles are to integrate the work with antagonistic and accident related risks. The report is based on two consult agencies where each agency´s work procedure is represented by a risk management method. The work with accident related and antagonistic risks is analysed and evaluated compared to four different components. The components are risk management process (IEC´s and FEMA´s model), driving forces, education and competence, and resources to control risk management with COSO?´s ERM framework.

To gain the long-term confidence of customers, not only the best businesses, but also the best supply chains are required.Volvo Cars is experiencing a changing competitive situation and their retailers are having trouble stocking the right spare parts. Shorter product life cycles and the growth of Volvo?s product program result in an increase in the number of spare parts to be stocked. In order to adapt to market trends and meet customer demands, Volvo has developed the LDC model, establishing a number of regional warehouses in strategic locations in Sweden, de-signed to supply spare parts to the regions? retailers through so-called Vendor-Managed In-ventory (VMI).The purpose of the study is to examine Volvo personbilar Sverige?s (VPS) motivation for a modified customer-service strategy through LDC.

A major issue that has been a subject for quite some time is whether there will be a scarcity of metals in the bedrock in the future and whether or not we might end up with a problem similar to that of the big oil crisis in the mid-seventies. Following the oil crisis many oil companies started up with risk management to control future risks. This work presents how Swedish mining companies work with risk management to handle risks that might come up in the future due to metal scarceness. How Swedish mining companies look at the possible metal scarceness and if they use risk management in their decision-making process is studied. By doing interviews with Swedish owned mining companies it was found that the mining companies did not see the future metal scarcity as a risk, even though 2/3 of the companies acknowledged the scarceness to be a reality.

The aim of this study is two folded. We wish to investigate if there is a value premium from hedging jet fuel exposure for American and European airlines. We also seek to answer if airlines can affect their probability to default by using Risk Management. During the period 2003 ? 2006 there existed a value premium for airlines that hedged their expected future consumption of jet fuel.

Ett arbetssätt för att analysera och hantera en verksamhets riskmiljö är Risk Management. Huvudsyftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och analysera hur Helikopterflottiljen Malmen och Scania AB arbetar med Risk Management med fokus på miljöarbete. Studien bygger på två fallstudier som har utförts genom kvalitativa intervjuer.

The aim of this report is to increase the knowledge and understanding of the problems within the production at AQ Enclosure systems, and thereby achieve a more stable flow throughout the whole process, a better working environment and better competition advantages. The internal flow along with the external cooperation is very important for the company, because it views flexibility and short leadtime as it is the most important competitive means. The part of AQ production that?s been investigated is the manufacturing of ATM-machines, where the costumer is Banqit. This company is a rater small company with about 4 % of the world market of ATM-machines.In order to achieve the aim of the report extensive interviews have been carried out with employees at AQ.

All companies face risk in their daily business. Internationalised companies tend to experience higher risk due to for example unfamiliar business environment than companies that act only on the national market. Estonia became independent as late as in 1991 and is therefore a new interesting market for many companies in neighbouring countries like Sweden. Risks that are most apparent for an internationalised company are political risk, currency risk, capital and interest rate risk, business risk and credit risk. Our intention of this study was to find out how Swedish companies acting on the Estonian market faced the different risks when entering the Estonian market and how they value the risks today.

Logistik kan bidra till kostnadsbesparingar bland företag vid användning av resurser, utöver det så kan en framgångsrik logistik ge företag fördelar när det handlar om att skapa värde åt kund. Vid marknadsföring så kan logistik även ha en stor inverkan på hur bra slutresultatet blir (Fuller et al., 1993). Hur bra kvalitén är på logistiktjänsterna är därför en viktig faktor inom marknadsföring för att skapa kundtillfredsställelse. För att effektivt kunna använda logistik som ett hjälpmedel för att få ett konkurrensmässigt övertag så krävs det ett samspel mellan företagets marknadsavdelning och de som arbetar med logistiska frågor (Mentzer et al., 2004). Syftet med denna undersökning är att utveckla och testa en modell för analys och förbättring av försörjningskedjor med hänsyn till ett supply chain- och marknadsperspektiv. Modellen har skapats med stöd av litteraturstudier och empiri i form av dokument och intervjuer från företaget, även möten med handledare.

Bakgrund och problem: ?What gets measured gets done? är ett välkänt ordspråk inom prestations-mätningsområdet. Den primära rollen i prestationsmätning är att säkerställa att företagets mål upp-nås och för det används mål och mått som hjälper medarbetarna att prestera väl. Detta gäller såväl i företagets supply chain som i övriga delar av verksamheten. Eftersom en supply chain i många fall är mycket komplex ökar betydelsen av styrning och mätningar.Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att i detaljhandelsbranschen identifiera ett fåtal Key Performance Indicators (KPI) för en supply chain (SC) som kan bidra till ökad lönsamhet via materialanskaffning, lager och butikspåfyllnad.Avgränsningar: Studien avgränsas till ett företag för att kunna gå på djupet och se hur fallstudiens företag ställer sig till studiens generellt uttryckta syfte.Metod: En kvalitativ fallstudie har genomförts.
