This is a thesis about The Eight Circuit Model, a modern mind map developed for the purpose of illumination and enlighenment by Dr. Timothy Leary in the 1970s. Later, authors such as Robert Anton Wilson and Antero Alli elaborated upon the idea to make it more wholesome and compatible with other ideas expressing the same basic principle. In short, it is an intellectual abstraction of the evolution of consciousness through a series of eight stages, which Leary called Circuits. By looking at the brain as an evolving bio-computer, with thoughts working as software, upgrading itself through neurological imprints, Learys created a Hero's Journey for the modern age.The thesis tries to analyze this idea, as it is presented in Robert Anton Wilsons Prometheus Rising, through the lens of the discourse category ?Western Esoterism.? A hard-to-define subject but described as ?the dialectic of the hidden and the revealed in the field of religion.?.

During the last years, meticillin resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) have caused an increasing number of infections in Swedish dogs. MRSP is resistant against a majority of the antimicrobials available for dogs in Sweden, making it difficult to treat the infection. Our knowledge of the bacterium is limited, making it hard to handle infected dogs in a proper way. The aim of this study was to investigate for how long time dogs, who have an infection caused by MRSP, become carriers of the bacterium. Other factors like treatment with antimicrobials, the correlation between clinical symptoms and carriage, common diagnoses and institutionalization where also looked upon.

AbstractSyftet med studien var att utvärdera fluoxetins effekt på hetsätning och kräkning vid bulimia nervosadå ingen samtidigt psykoterapi ges. Även tid för behandlingseffekt, förändringar på andrasjukdomskarakteristika, förekomst av viktförändring och biverkningar undersöktes. Studiengenomfördes som en litteraturstudie. Sökningar efter litteratur skedde i Pubmed, Google, ELIN,Artikelsök, Cochrane, EMEA, SweMed+. Sökorden var; bulimia, bulimia nervosa, fluoxetine, prozac,psychotropic drugs, antidepressive agents, serotonin uptake inhibitors, ätstörning, eating, disorder.Sammanfattningsvis hade fluoxetin 60 mg/dag en god effekt på att minska antalet hetsätningar ochkräkningar per vecka jämfört med placebo.

Uppsatsens syfta är att förmedla den syn på farmaceuters arbetsliv som förmedlas av mina informanter vilka alla tjänstgjort på apotek i mer än 25 år. Metoden som jag använt vid mina intervjuer består av anteckningar under 80-120 minuters samtal som sedan direkt skrivits ut av mig. Tre av mina informanter är apotekare och två är receptarier. Fyra påbörjade sin utbildning direkt efter studentexamen medan en arbetade i många år som apotekstekniker innan hon blev receptarie.För tre av mina informanter som är pensionärer började arbetslivet på apotek före det statliga monopolet 1970/1971 och de beskriver den tid då apotekaryrket fortfarande hade karaktären av ett skrå. De två andra började sitt yrkesliv under monopolets tid men har nu efter 2010 fått nya arbetsuppgifter.

Syftet med denna studie var att titta på kriminalitet, brottsutsatthet och narkotika i en ungdomsgrupp. Även samband mellan dessa tre variabler studerades. Detta gjordes genom en enkätstudie som besvarades av gymnasieungdomar i åldrarna 16-21 år. Tidigare forskning på området visar att den mest förekommande narkotikasorten som ungdomar provar är marijuana. Lindrigare stöldbrott, som snatteri, är enligt tidigare studier det vanligaste brottet.

Lökarterna som tas upp i denna litteraturstudie är främst gul lök (Allium cepa) och vitlök (Allium sativum), men också dagglök (Allium flavum). Syftet är att ta reda på hur farliga ämnena i lök är, om de negativa effekterna överväger de positiva, hur djurslagsskillnader ter sig, om det spelar någon roll hur löken är tillagad och vilka symptomen på lökförgiftning är. Eftersom det är många faktorer som avgör om lök får negativa eller positiva effekter är det svårt att säga om lökens effekter är endast positiva/negativa. Effekterna kan vara både positiva och negativa, det beror till största del på dosen men även djurslag och lökart spelar roll. Positiva effekter av lök har utvärderats i studier. Fenolerna har visats vara antioxiderande, antiinflammatoriska, antibakteriella och antifungurala, de flesta av dessa studier gjordes in vitro. Lökinducerad hemolys drabbar de flesta djurslag som får i sig för mycket lök men det finns de som är mer eller mindre känsliga.

The objective of this study was trying to understand bullying focusing on the bully. The questions at issue were: What can contribute in the making of a bully? What are the benefits and losses in bullying? What are the former bullies? thoughts on bullying, now in comparison to in their youth. This was investigated with a qualitative approach from a former bullys perspective, hence three former bullies were interviewed. The result was presented in themes and was then analysed from a social psychological and social constructionist perspective.

This study aims to examine how social workers, in the Swedish social services, perceive and interpret LVU § 3 from a gender perspective. In total eight social workers participated in the study, attending interviews based on a vignette. From a gender perspective we wanted to found out how the social workers define "other socially destructive behaviour" and understand their thoughts about this subject. Moreover, we aimed to see if social workers perceive any differences between boys and girls behaviour. Based on several theories, two gender theories and concepts we have analysed our result from the interviews.

The aim of this study is to increase understanding about addiction recovery. More specifically, we want to know what people who have had problems with alcohol and/or other drugs perceive as helpful and important for their recovery process and how we can understand this process.The study was conducted by means of qualitative semi-structured interviews with four people who have had alcohol and/or other drug problems. The analysis is based on a transtheoretical model of change from addictive behaviours, coping, interactionist theories and also a recovery perspective, inspired by research on recovery from mental illness . Main findings are that recovery from addiction can be understood as an individual process that takes place in a social context and can follow expected phases, although there are large individual differences in the process. Through the recovery process it has been of importance to the participants in the study to redefine themselves and their problems, get support from others, find ways to cope with their problems, get involved in meaningful activities and to expand their social roles.

This article starts with a review of the literature regarding the normal reproductive physiology of the mare, prolonged luteal phase and medical drugs used within reproduction of the horse, with emphasis on Ovuplant®. The purpose of this article was to measure the progesterone level in blood, of mares implanted with deslorelin acetate (Ovuplant®). The study was performed at the Department of Clinical Sciences, SLU, in Uppsala. There were seven mares included in the study. They were divided into two groups, one experimental group (four mares) and one control group (three mares).

The aim of thisstudy was to explore how people who have used illicitly obtained buprenorphine describessuch abuse. The study was conducted using qualitative method, where a total of fiveindividuals were interviewed about past experiences of having used illicitly acquiredbuprenorphine.

This student report is about neutering male and female cats and compares early ageneutering to neutering at the traditional age of 6 months.The main focus in this report is early age neutering, which means that neutering isperformed when the kittens are between 6 and 16 weeks of age. This technique has beenused by shelters in the United States for a long time, to prevent the adopted cats fromreproduce and contribute to the problem of overpopulation.Two different surgical methods are also addressed; the ventral midline incision and thelateral flank approach. Anthelmintic resistance is a major problem in sheep husbandry all over the world. One way toslow down the development of anthelmintic resistance is to keep part of the parasitepopulation in refugia (unexposed to drugs) which will maintain the genes for susceptibilitywithin the population. Climate, type of parasite and drenching regimes effect the size of therefugia. Dilution of resistant with susceptible parasites, targeted treatment and targetedselective treatment are all management strategies that employ refugia. Dilution is possible butcomplicated.

According to several surveys, womens´ mental illness is increasing. Today the mental illness is the reason why a third of women are sick listed. Furthermore, these surveys also show an increase in the use of pharmaceuticals. For an example, has the use of antidepressant drugs multiplied by six times for the last 20 years.The aim of this paper is to examine experiences of womens´ mental illness and the use of pharmaceuticals. This is looked upon from two different perspectives: the treatment perspective as well as the perspective of female users.

Syftet med denna litteratur studie var att undersöka vetenskaplig litteratur om hur sjuksköterskan och övrig sjukvårdspersonal bemöter och vårdar patienter med missbruksproblem. Begreppet missbruk innefattar alla former av missbruk av både narkotika och alkohol. Artiklarna skulle handla om patienter med ett missbruk och deras möte med vården. Litteratursökningen har skett i följande databaser: Science Direct (Elsevier) PubMed , Blackwell Synergy. Urvalet skedde utifrån relevans till syfte och frågeställningar.
