The purpose of this study is to examine how adult Students, studying at an upper secondary school for adults, search for information for their independent tasks in different subjects. These independent tasks are frequent in most subjects and are a part of the ?investigation-work?. For most adult Students this is a new way of learning. Fifteen qualitative interviews with adult Students have been conducted.

During recent years, the trend of Swedish Students? negative performance and results in mathematics has been discussed. It is agreed that a change in teaching methods is necessary in order to solve this issue. Thus we found it interesting to take a closer look at an alternative way of teaching. The purpose of this study was to find out what teachers and Students associate concrete mathematics with and make a comparison between them.

Elever som hänger med : en kvalitativ studie om skolsituationen för elever som enkelt klarar skolans uppnåendemål

The purpose of this research has been to find out whether and how teachers stimulate and motivate well achievers in the elementary school to reach a higher level. To gather information I visited two different schools within the same county in Stockholm and on each school I met and interviewed with two teachers. The answers received from these interviews are presented in this study as my results. I found that the teachers feel that Students that do well in the classroom many times work as role models for the other Students. Often these Students require extra material as they usually finish their workload ahead of others.

Källkritik på Internet : En kvalitativ studie av den källkritiska medvetenheten hos gymnasieelever på samhällsprogrammet

This essay is an ideographic study over the capacity of high school Students to use the Internet with source criticism, and their attitudes towards this media. It?s a qualitative study whose main purpose is to seek out how the Students reflect upon the problems facing them when searching facts and information over the internet.The focus group is six 18 year old high school Students, who are studying in a normal sized town in the middle of Sweden, and are about to finish their studies in the program for social sciences. The study was made through interviews, one on one with the Students,The results of the analysis have shown that even if Students not necessarily use a pre meditated method when searching for information over the internet, they do have a basic understanding of the matter, especially concerning the nature of the source, who published it and why. Not all Students made any thorough comparison with other, already established media, such as TV or books, but the analysis made it clear that they more or less deliberately saw the established media as more trustworthy in general.

Kravmärkt? : en studie om gymnasieelevers uppfattningar om krav och förväntningar i deras studiesituation

The purpose of this study is to investigate and describe the variation in perceptions of demands and expectations of study performance among a group of Students at an upper secondary school. The study is inspired by a phenomenographic approach in which variations in perceptions of a phenomenon are of importance. Twelve Students at a science program participated and were interviewed in groups of four. The results show that among the Students there are several different perceptions of the demands and expectations to perform they felt present in their lives. The most important result is that it is the Students' own demands and expectations on their performance and study results that are seen as the most demanding..

ABSTRACTMusic and differences in knowledge ? a study of music teachers experiences with differences in musical knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to, out of a music teacher?s perspective, see if the differences in music abilities between 7th grade Students are at all, or in some ways connected to the previous schools they?ve attended. I will also research in what areas, in the subject of music, Students are differing more, as well as less, in their knowledge. The analysis is based on interviews with six 7th grade music teachers working in the Swedish nine-year compulsory school system.

Kan ett konkret arbetssätt påverka lusten till matematik?

The purpose behind this work was to investigate whether I could from a practical approach to create desire for mathematics among Students in primary schools. I wanted also to find out how Students feel about their current mathematics teaching. By introducing an equation game, and interviewing Students to find out their perception of their mathematics teaching, I was able to answer my questions. What I came to was that through a practical and laboratory work, I could create an enjoyable educational opportunity in mathematics. Then during the interviews I also learned that Students had not a pre-determined negative attitude towards mathematics.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how Students relates to and perceives the schoolswork with the value base. To answer my purpose has been two studies conducted. The first study aimed at finding out Students' perceptions regarding the content and concretization of the value base and on their perceptions of participation and retention of this work. This study was conducted using a questionnaire survey.The second study has aimed to highlight the approach embodied by the schools' plans and treatment plans. This sudy has been conducted trough a review of policy documents available on the websites of education departments, municipalities and schools.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to analyse how adult Students in Swedish adult education seek information for school tasks. The focus is on how they use the public library and electronic information sources and their reflection on information and sources in this process. Also of interest in the study is the help they receive from staff in the public library and their teacher. Methods used in collecting and analysing data for this study were of qualitative nature.

The purpose of this study has been to investigate how four 3rd grade pedagogues allow communication in the teaching of mathematics and how these pedagogues allow their Students to use and expand their language of mathematics. Praktikchock?! : En studie om hur erfarenheter från VFU påverkat studenters självkänsla

Background: All the Students in the University College of Södertörn in Sweden who are studying to become a teacher, are attending practice education.Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to illuminate and analyze how the Students experienced their practice education. My intent was to investigate if the Students by their experiences have been affected in their own self-esteem.Method: This is a qualitative study that has been responded by 60 teacher Students. The Students attended in an internet- survey that included ten different questions.Result: The result of the interviews shows that the self-esteem has been affected, mostly in a positive way.Conclusion: The most common reason that affected the student self-esteem depended on how their supervisor has been treating them during their practice.

Ge dem en röst : Lärares uppfattningar om hur de skapar förutsättningar för elevers delaktighet i grundsärskolan. 

The aim of this study is to examine how teachers enable Students with intellectual disabilities to participate in their own learning journey. The study is based on qualitative methods and data collection has been done through five individual interviews in another European country. The interviews are analysed with a qualitative method inspired by Bryman (2011). The studies theoretical frame is founded on thoughts of Dewey (1997; 2002; 2004). The results of this study shows, among other things, that good relationship between adults in school and Students are an important base for participation. To build a good relationship to the Students, the teacher has to have good knowledge of each individual student and its disability.

The purpose of this study is to examine senior high school Students? strategies and reasoning when solving mathematical problems and make a review of the concept problem solving. The purpose is also to examine if the Students? choice of strategies are influenced when their mathematical knowledge is improved.The study was conducted in two science classes at a senior high school. All the Students were asked to individually solve two mathematical problems.

Svårighet blir möjlighet : Skolbiblioteket som pedagogisk resurs för elever med läshinder

Since reading difficulties is a growing problem in Society and a problem that hinders Children to take an active part in every day life, I wanted to investigate how the School Library can be an educational resource for Students with reading difficulties. Using qualitative interviews, I have gained insight into how three school librarians and two teachers work with Students with reading difficulties at two different Schools.The Respondents feel that they have the Knowledge necessary to work with Students with reading difficulties, but Wish they had more Resources in terms of Time and Staff to help Students achieve School Goals even better. There are always new assistive technology for Students with Reading Difficulties, and an important part of the Educational work of the School Library, is to be informed of the Facilities available and how they work. I show, in my Research the importance of cooperation between school libraries and teachers to provide the Students with reading difficulties the love of reading and work to promote reading. It is important that the School Librarian is an integral part of the School's Team to take full advantage of every opportunity to help the Reading Impaired Students with Information and finding the right Reading Level.

Vem väljer att bil bibliotekarie?: en studie över bibliotekariestudenter i Borås

This paper will portray the differences and similarities that exist between Students whoattended the Swedish School of Library and Information Science in Borås.The study is based upon quantitative information gathered from a survey which wasdistributed to first-year Students in Borås in the auturnn term 1994. A total of 77 Studentsresponded to the survey.We also do a comparative study of the Students at all the library programs in Sweden.This is partially based on the findings by a thesis prior to this one by the authorsSvalstedt and Österdahl.We found that the Students in Borås differ mainly in their personal histories and backgrounds.When it comes to their attitudes towards the profession and educationalmatters they are similar. Further we found the same to be tme in our comparison of thelibrary programs in total..
