With emphasis on women's magazines and men, this essay will revolve around the image of the ideal woman. Our purpose was to examine whether men have a distinct image regarding the appearance and behaviour of the ideal woman. Next step was to establish whether the women's magazines also presented a specific image to their readers.The answers were found through a qualitative study that included ten men, and through an extensive analysis by women's magazines. The result indicated that both the men questioned and the women's magazines presented a clear view of an ideal woman. The views held by the men, were then compared to the images presented by the women's magazines and were found to be very similar.We used Erving Goffmans sociological theory to describe the actual woman and the ideal images of women that the men questioned and the women's magazines presented.

Den nya standarden Eurokod kräver omställningar på byggprojekteringskontoren i det hänseende att personalen måste lära sig att använda och följa denna standard. För knutpunkter i stål har det hittills funnits stöd i form av beräkningsmetoder och handböcker, men ännu har inte någon utförlig hjälp om hur man hanterar dem med Eurokod utkommit. Trots att dimensioneringsprocessen av knutpunkterna är mycket viktig vid projektering av stålkonstruktioner är processen långsammare än den kan vara. Därför vore det bra om man fann ett enklare och snabbare sätt att dimensionera knutpunkter i enlighet med Eurokod.Intervjuer har visat att dimensioneringsprocessen hittills fungerat så att beräkningarna sker för hand av en konstruktör enligt BKR:s regler, för att sedan modelleras i 3D av en projektör som slutligen får sina ritningar granskade av en tredje person.Genom fallstudier av standardknutpunkten BP1 söktes en förbättrad dimensioneringsprocess jämfört med den som intervjuerna beskrev. I fallstudierna dimensionerades BP1 för hand och med programmen Autodesk Robot Structure Professional Analysis 2011 och modellerades med Tekla Structure 16.0, hela tiden i enlighet med Eurokod.

Therefore, we have studied how the situation looks like beyond the statistics. The aim of our thesis is to examine, due to gender, how female journalists in Cape Town experience and cope with their work situation in a profession traditionally dominated by men.

Background: Borderline personality disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis that one to two percent of the population and at least every fourth patient that have received treatment at a psychiatric clinic has been diagnosed with. BPD is most common in women between teenage and early adulthood. Purpose: The aim of this literature study was to emphasize the nursing care of patients diagnosed with BPD within different perspectives. Method: A literature study was conducted to get a deeper understanding for the nursing care of patients with BPD. The search for pertinent articles, answering to the aim of the study, was done in different databases.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine the librarians? perception of the users of children?s and young people?s literature. Questions posed in this study are: How are the librarians described according to appearance, personality and interaction with the users? How are the librarians described compared to former studies on the subject? Which perception can be seen, based on Douglas Rabers?s theory which describes the role the public libraries can take in the society? The study is based on content analysis. We have examined 15 descriptions of librarians in both picture books and literature for young adults, published between 1985 and 2006.

This thesis is based on two different parts. First a presentation and a brief insight of the most comprehensive picture educational structures/theories and their various branches in Sweden from the post war period. Secondly a presentation of my artistic masters project Fantasy World, where I together with a group of children aged 7-12 freely created an artwork in the form of a world of its own, in sculptural expression. For many people consumption of music is an important part of the daily life and it can contribute to shape an individual?s attitudes and personality.The main purpose of this study is to find out whether there are any differences between men and women?s musical preferences. I will apply an explorative approach using qualitative interviews to describe what causes the differences.

To accomplish this purpose, archaic societies and structures such as ancient Egypt and Hawaii will be examined to obtain a closer understanding of the building blocks which constitute a chiefdom or kingdom. Since Patrick V. Kirch (2010) recently redefined the Hawaiian archipelago as a kingdom this essay will examine if the same can be done with the chiefdom of Tonga since it have similarities to the Hawaiian social organization.To do this the essay will examine and describe both the geographical organization of the states and the social organization. Extern validitet hos personlighetstest kan studeras genom att testet ställs motvariabler som mäter arbetsprestation. Syftet med studien var att undersökavaliditeten hos det arbetslivspsykologiska personlighetstestet UPP (Sjöberg,2008). Ett hundra anställda inom polisen, varav 50 kvinnor, tog testet via enInternetplatform. Som externa kriterier användes i studie 1 (N = 100)polisens lönekriterier och i studie 2 (N = 46) ett objektivt kriterium i form avantal förhör för utredare. Resultaten indikerar att vissa variabler i UPPtestetvisade tillfredsställande validitet mot de externa kriterierna.Emotionell stabilitet uppvisade tillfredsställande validitet mot kriterierna ienlighet med tidigare forskning.

This study focuses on international mediation and mediation theory. The aim of the study is to bring into light, a critique on already exsisting mediation theory and the need to oversimplify generalisations and results. This study focuses on a comparison between Richard Holbrooke and Carl Bildt, and their roles? as mediators during the war in Bosnia and Hercegovina 1995. I have deliberatly chosen two very different actors on the same case, to show that traditional belif on why the war ended is oversimplyfied and wrong.This study uses Curran, Sebenius and Watkins paper on mediation as a template in defining how to use the criterias for analyzing a mediator.

The intention of this study was to create an understanding of how multi-professional interaction could convert into inter-professional collaboration, which takes advantage of and acknowledges the individual professional identity. The intention was to understand the meaning of collaboration through the study of meetings between professionals who use different symbol systems. In particular, we wanted to study inter-professional interaction from a symbolic interactional perspective with a focus on Self, Identity, Symbols, Meaning and Professional community. The employed method was semi-structured interviews with ten questions. A convenience sample was used to identify working groups composed of different professions, such as teachers, social workers and therapy assistants.

The aim of this study is to describe what teachers and principals experience in schools regarding threats, violence and harassment towards teachers. A phenomenographical inspired approach has been used to describe and analyse the conceptions of five teachers and five principals. The findings of the study indicate that there is no impending risk for teachers to suffer from violence, threats or harassment. However, it does occasionally happen, and the findings of the study indicate that there are some factors that increase the risk. The major three factors are: fear, personality and inexperience.

The aim of this thesis has been to investigate women's experience of the Methadone maintenance treatment and what help they believe they need to be able to recover and to improve their social life and whether the medical- and social workers share the similar view.Our method of investigation has been qualitative interviews with four women in the program, two nurses and a counsellor at the methadone clinic and two social workers, who have female clients in the program.The questions at issue were:* how did the women describe their life situation during treatment, compared to the situation they had while they were addicted to narcotics,* did the women experience that the treatment they get in the methadone maintenance program is giving them a better social life situation,* did the employees at the clinic and at the social office share the similar view about the treatments as the female patients?Main problems seemed to be; meeting new non-addictive friends and finding something to do. We could se that, in different ways, they need more support. It wasn't always clear to the people who work with them whose responsibility it was, depending on workplace and/or personality..

Through previous studies during my education, I have experienced that chemical deicing road salt is a known problem, mainly in southern Sweden. Road salt causes damage to the environment and also damage to vehicles and structures such as bridges, etc. Road salt causes vehicles and steel constructions to rust, leading to increased costs for repairs of damage to structures. Road salt also causes damage to the plants and the economy to suffer, when plant material and soil needs to be replaced. In order to get closer to a solution, I put up three questions.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka: 1) Personlighetsdrag hos lärare i förskola och gymnasieskola och om det fanns någon skillnad mellan dessa lärarkategorier i personlighet enligt fem faktor-modellen; 2) Skillnaden i arbetstillfredsställelse hos lärare i förskola och gymnasieskola; och 3) Om det fanns något samband mellan personlighetsfördelningen hos respektive lärarkategori och arbetstillfredsställelse. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av en enkät som delades ut till fyra förskolor och två gymnasieskolor. Totalt deltog 75 respondenter. Mätinstrumenten som användes var Job Satisfaction Survey och Ten Item Personality Inventory. Resultatet visade att gymnasielärare skattade högre än förskolelärare i samtliga personlighetsdrag.
