This literature review aims to investigate, expose and explain August Strindberg's religious position in his partly autobiographical work Inferno, published in Swedish in 1897, in relation to Peter Berger's socialization theory. Strindberg says in the beginning of Inferno that he goes from being an atheist, occultist and Swedenborgian to finally return to his ancestral religion, Christianity. This is questionable, as Strindberg seems to be religious in its atheistic era, and occultist during his Christian period. Strindberg's own religious views seem not always match what he portrays, compared to what he writes in his correspondence and diary entries. This literature review aims to highlight the influences of Strindberg affected to clarify his religiosity which is implicitly and explicitly depicted in Inferno.

Sammandrag Det har talats om en litterär kanon som tagit stort utrymme i gymnasieskolans svenskundervisning. Detta examensarbete är en undersökning där gymnasieelever som studerar på ett praktiskt gymnasieprogram pressenteras för August Strindbergs text Inferno medierat utifrån tre olika medier. Strindberg tillhör vad somliga kallar en kanon. Utifrån detta undersöker jag Strindbergs relevans och medieringens betydelse. Frågestälningarna som ligger till grund för undersökningen är: Vad knyter eleverna an till i Inferno? Hur responderar eleverna på medieringen? Vilken relevans har August Strindberg i svenskundervisningen på praktiska gymnasieutbildningar utifrån resultatet av undersökningen? The purpose of this study has been to analyze the image of Strindberg in today's upper secondary school. How is the author portrayed in the textbooks and teaching aids, and which parts of the authorship does the textbook and teaching aids authors choose to focus on?  This work has been implemented in the form of a textbook and teaching aids survey where eight textbooks for the upper secondary school from 1989 to 2008 has been analyzed with focus on the sections that consider Strindberg and his authorships.What emerges when studying these textbooks and teaching aids is that they give a rather synonymous picture of the man and the author Strindberg. Big focus is aimed on private life and the scandals that the author more or less voluntary became a part of. The majority of the textbooks treats matters as ?the misogynist? and ? the critic of society? and the so called Inferno crisis, and also when one discusses the literary works it is done in the light of the author's own life and accomplishments.When it comes to the author's literary production it is a very limited selection that is presented to the students.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distribution of medieval ballads as semiotics of intertextuality in modern Swedish literature, here represented by August Strindberg, Erik Axel Karlfeldt, Kerstin Ekman and Katarina Frostenson. They are famous authors from different epochs, ranging from the period called ?the modern breakthrough? in the 1880s until the postmodernism of the present time. My aim is to expose their attraction to medieval balladry, and their different ways of using form, language and style from this old poetry in poems, prose and plays, explicit as well as implicit..

This essay analyses the act of reading August Strindberg?s novel En dåres försvarstal (A Madman?s defence). It reveals the writer?s motif and purpose with the text and it shows how a certain interpretation of the text is crucial for the writer?s intentions to become reality. But it also shows how this interpretation is threaten by several, both intertextual and extratextual, thematically and structural, factors.

Huvudsyftet med vår uppsats är att undersöka vad Hjalmar Sundéns rollteori kan bidra med i förståelsen av August Strindbergs religiösa upplevelser och erfarenheter under infernokrisen i Paris 1894-1896 (97). Materialet utgörs av Strindbergs egna så kallade självbiografiska verk Inferno, Legender och Klostret samt litteratur om Strindbergs infernokris och hans liv inklusive hans korrespondens. Metoderna vi använder är textanalys av Strindbergs litterära verk och komparativa studier av Strindbergs verk och korrespondens. Dessutom görs textstudier av material skrivet om honom. Vi tillämpar Hjalmar Sundéns rollteori för att få förståelse för de erfarenheter och upplevelser som Strindberg behandlar i sina självbiografiska verk, dramer och brev.

Uppsatsen behandlar sex kurdiska killar som bor i Stockholm och deras beskrivningar kring omvärldens bild av deras kultur.Vår frågeställning lyder: hur förhåller sig kurdiska killar till bilden av kurder som finns i omvärlden? Genom att intervjua dessa sex personer individuellt och ha med en liten medieanalys försöker få en uppfattning om dessa kurdiska killars identitetskonstruktion.Resultatet som man kan ta del av är att dessa kurdiska killar ofta försvarar sin kultur och sitt ursprung samtidigt som de har börjat tänja på gränserna som finns kring deras kultur..

In this thesis I examine the events that followed the death of August Strindberg and resulted in his private belongings becoming an important part of Swedens cultural heritage. My purpose has been twofold: firstly, to identify which aims were sought to be achieved when dealing with Strindberg's archives and his home and to relate these to a nationalistic interpretation of history, secondly, to relate this work to the then newly introduced archival principle, the Principle of provenance. I identified three different aims: firstly the economic aim must be seen in the light of an increasingly expanding publishing market. I argue that the author gained a new and important role in the general social debate a nationalistic one, an important point with regard to my following conclusions. Secondly, the aim to store and display the material in a museum is discussed in relation to different views of cultural history and the interpretation of history.

Uppsatsen avser att utreda hur August Strindbergs pjäs Fröken Julie avspeglar samtidens bild av kvinnan som sjuklig varelse. Enligt min mening tilltar behovet av att definiera kvinnan som biologiskt svag, i takt med kraven om jämlikhet mellan könen. Uppsatsen argumenterar för Julie som en representant för emancipationskvinnan. Denna, för mannen, hotfulla varelse som inkräktade på hans revir. Julie måste därmed avväpnas, göras svag, sjuk och styrd av sin sexualitet för att sedan utplånas.
