Snickarmästare Hjalmar Jackson var med sin verkstad en av Stockholms skickligaste möbeltillverkare under perioden 1916-1956. Exempel på uppdrag var tillverkning av möbler till Stockholms Stadshus, vardagsrummet på Ulriksdals slott och Svenska Tändsticksbolaget AB. Jackson var även en aktiv föreningsmänniska som engagerade sig starkt för hantverkarnas situation i samhället liksom för bibehållandet av hög hantverksstandard och utbildning till kommande generationer. Under hela sitt aktiva yrkesliv hade Hjalmar Jackson ett nära samarbete med olika möbelarkitekter, speciellt Carl Malmsten.Efter ett inledande kapitel om möbel- och inredningsstilar åren 1910-1960 redogör denna uppsats för Hjalmar Jackson som person och yrkesman, hans olika verkstäder och uppdrag samt också för ett antal möbelalster tillverkade av Jackson och hans verkstad. Uppsatsen innehåller även en beskrivning av arbetet hos Jackson grundad på intervju med snickarmästare Inge Johnsson som arbetade hos Jackson på 1950-talet.Det föreligger inget tvivel om att Jackson var en mycket kompetent mästare, hantverkare och arbetsledare och att han och hans medarbetare gjorde en bestående insats för möbel- och hantverkskulturen i Sverige..

Wermland was affected by the Spanish flu like the Swedish national average, about a half percentage of Wermlands population would lose their lives to the flu during the autumn 1918. The flu has for many fallen into oblivion. This oblivion is so wide spread that it´s possible to talk about a "collective forgetfulness". The society have selected to remember 1918 for "when the guns went quiet on the western front" and not for the millions who died from the treacherous Spanish flu. The world had already suffered enough from the four years of war that had been fought, thus the victims of the flu would be honored but would soon fade in to oblivion.  When you investigate deeper you get the picture that the national average don´t do Wermland and its cities or rural areas any justice when a large variations seems to occur within regional areas.

Crisis management planning is a relatively new policy area in the European countries. It has materialized since the fall of the iron curtain and because of the increased interest to prevent wide-ranging national emergencies. In Sweden, the county administrative board has a key obligation to perform risk analysis guidelines. This assessment involves identifying crisis, planning response to the crisis and, if necessary, confronting and resolving the crisis in the geographic area of the region. Riksintresset för kulturmiljövården syftar till att så långt som möjligt skydda mot påverkan av kulturhistoriskt värdefulla miljöer. Miljöbalken, som utgör grunden för riksintresse för kulturmiljövården, hävdar att grönstrukturen inom och i närheten av tätorter särskilt bör tas i beaktning. Stockholms be-byggda ytor ökar, delvis på bekostnad av stadens grönstruktur. Utförliga strategier i Stockholm stads översiktliga planering för de riksintressanta kulturmiljöerna är något som saknas, framförallt för grönstruktur inom des-sa områden. Samtidigt existerar grönstruktur i olika form som element i alla Stockholms riksintressen för kulturmiljövården.

Freshwater environments are threatened worldwide, of which many of the species associatedwith freshwater. In 2014, 243 freshwater mussels were on the international Red List. One ofthem is the freshwater pearl mussel, Margaritifera margaritifera, which because of itscomplex life cycle can be counted as an indicator of whether a stream is worth protecting. It's since the early 1900's in decline throughout their range. Sweden is counted as a core area which is why we have not only a national but an international responsibility to conserve the species.

The purpose of this work is to find out how present manager contracts are set up in Landstinget Västmanland (the county council of Västmanland), explore managers? perception of these contracts and why managers have chosen leadership. The work has also reviewed the question if managers need to have a relationship or expertise to the activities they lead and which qualifications are needed in such case. The survey was conducted in two divisions in which nine interviews were held with managers at all levels. In addition to this a questionnaire including the 87 managers in the divisions were held.

Stockholm är en stad där grönstrukturen i stadens närförorter länge har haft en roll som ett stadsdelsskiljande, sammanhängande grönt nät och där stadens inriktning har varit att bevara denna struktur. I förtätningens era i den starkt växande staden målas grönområdena nu istället upp som den mark som återstår att bygga på, där det gröna nätet är ett hot mot en sammanhängande stadsstruktur. I detta arbete behandlades frågeställningen om det hade det skett en förändring i Stockholms stads beskrivning av grönstruktur i den översiktliga planeringen. Metoden som användes var att jämföra Stockholms översiktsplan 1999 med översiktsplan 2010 efter ett antal frågor om grönstruktur. Varje fråga besvarades med sammanfattningar eller citat från de båda översiktsplanerna och en efterföljande analys. Resultatet tyder på att en förändring har skett i stadens beskrivning av grönstruktur, den gröna strukturen har inte en lika central roll i den nya översiktsplanen och har inte längre ett eget kapitel eller karta.

This thesis examines the democracy theories that can be found in the internet websites of Region Skåne and Stockholm county council. Within the framework of deliberative democracy, participatory democracy and electoral democracy, the author tries to distinguish democratic aspects by empirically studying these websites and their communicative effect on the internet users.This research shows that Region Skåne is slightly better in implementing democratic aspects at their home page, which is probably due to an active work with these issues carried out by the politicians and the report on the democratic development from 2004. However, a great deal of work regarding democracy and the possibility of civic participation in the decision- making process is still to be done.The problems and challenges in using internet as a democratic tool shows that citizens run a risk of being neglected, due to their uneven participation in using internet in daily life. The conclusion of this thesis is that the politicians have to make an active choice in deciding to what extent the internet is allowed to be used when it comes to developing democracy. This work has to be done in cooperation with political scientists and IT experts, in order to assure a correct democratic model..

The public sector in Sweden has in recent decades undergone a large change due to market and liberalism impact. This change has meant that marketing communication and its concepts have been adopted by administrative authorities. In this thesis, we used governmentality, social constructivism and an interpretive perspective to examine the staff at the County Administrative Board in Kalmar County and their experiences and opinions of the concepts ?customer? and ?trademark?. The study was designed as a case study with qualitative interviews.

This study aims to investigate the domestic and work organization at the mansions located in the south of Västmanlands county years 1705-1849. The study takes into account the manors' size, ownership, owners' status and social changes. The study includes both large manors with noble owners and smaller manors with bourgeois owners.  The study examines how the households were formed, how they changed over time and how thet may have links to the Manor's ownership and size. The organization of labour is studied on the basis of how it changed over time and what it may have links to the owners ' status and the manors size. The focus is to answer how the connection was between household size, its composition, organization of labour and the owner?s status in the society.  Also if a difference can be seen between the strategies of the noble owners compared to the bourgeois owners..

Svenska Bostäder har planerat att bygga nya studentbostäder vid området Albano, norr om Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan. Dessa måste möta nybyggnationskravet satt av Stockholms Stad med högst ett energibehov på 55 kWh per år och uppvärmdkvadratmeter (Stockholms stad, 2013a). För att kartlägga studenters behov genomfördes en enkätstudie för att identifiera fokusområden som med eventuella åtgärder hade potential till minskat energibehov. Författarna valde att inrikta studien på varmvattenanvändning. Där valdes att undersöka duschmunstycken, tidsrelevanta åtgärder såsom timer, och tvättställ.

The aim of the study was to examine the competence of dental hygienists among Clinic Director´s within the Public Dental Service and Private dentists in the county of Skåne . The study was quantitative and consisted of an electronic questionnaire sent out to all Clinic Directors in the county of Skåne. A total of five hundred and thirty eight questionnaires were sent out. The inclusion criteria were the Clinic directors who employed dental hygienists who had obtained their professional degree during the last four years. Twenty nine Clinic directors responded to the study.The results showed that in general clinic directors are pleased and feel that dental hygienists are proficient in periodontology and dental caries diagnostics.

Den här uppsatsen uppmärksammar planerna för ombyggnaden av nya Slussen i Stockholm. Fokus i undersökningen ligger på mötesplatserna och dess deltagare enligt den vision som presenteras av Stockholms stad. Genom en kvalitativ metod granskas hur modern stadsplanering är tänkt att påverka människor som passerar och vistas vid Slussen. Analysen har ett retoriskt, semiotiskt och ideologiskt perspektiv och undersöker tre olika dokument: en publik broschyr, gällande detaljplan och gestaltningsprogram. Resultatet visar på en vision om en central plats i staden som befolkas av människor vars fritid och konsumtion är det mest väsentliga.

AbstractWe are facing a century of rapid change in climate, with significant challenges in managing the impact of changes in living conditions for plants and animals. We can already see the responses of species through changes in phenology and spatial distribution, which may change ecosystem structure and function, with subsequent effect on ecosystem services and biological diversity. In Sweden, between 2005 and 2010, the red-listed species has increased by 13 % and similar trends can be seen across the world, making it difficult to attain national and international environmental objectives of preserving biodiversity. One way to reduce the loss of biodiversity is to protect nature from exploitation by allocating valuable areas as nature reserves, but climate change affects protected areas just as much as other landscapes and therefore requires elaborate systems of protection to facilitate species' survival. The paper has examined  how the decisions and management plans for nature reserves in Sweden have been followed-up and whether they are climate adapted or not by examining 30 nature reserves, classified as newly formed (2012), recently revised (2009-2011) and older (1977-2007) reserves, and assessed what is in the decisions and management plans for follow-up, revision, long-term goals and documentation.
